FINALLY a tutorial that explained this in a way that made sense to me after a week-long war with Ableton Live Lite 11 trying to figure it out. So helpful -- thank you! Subscribed.

Exactly. Everyone else typically start well into the project and fly through it never addressing any hurdles that could come up. Or leave out what are extremely helpful tips. 3 minutes in and I’ve learned as much as 20 other vids I’ve watched collectively. This is a perfect tutorial

I wish I could have a tutorial from you on everything in life! The way you explain things with your tone of voice made this very easy to follow. It was very approachable and I was able to follow along while pausing to make sure I understood each step. This tutorial made me feel like I was actually being taught vs just shown, which I think is a lot more difficult to execute that people give it credit for. Thank YOU so much for making this video and helping me be confident in the magical Ableton world that is easy to get overwhelmed or lost in. Much love 👊

MAN!! Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have gone back over it a few times using diffent samples but trying to use the process you laid out here for the drums and that midi thing for the sample so I can use 808 bass and get that key changes. I like using Ableton with my Native instrument gear Kontakt S61 and the Mascine mk3 the Mascine 2.0 is nice and they have the BEST expansions Period. Thanks again.

how are you placing notes in that bottom section there when you did the midi clip at 8:48? when I click it merely highlights. I think I can hear you hitting a few keys when I listen closely to the sound but I still cannot get mine to look like yours

you lost me at 9:00.... "so I'm gonna place one there... and another one there... 'nother one there". notes just magically appear. how are you placing them there?
@i4nigtdomok349 Жыл бұрын
I'm a super noob with terrible beats but I'll try to explain this. Okay, so you see those black and white keys down at the bottom to the left and under the bottom brown line. Those are the instruments that are set up in the drum rack before he starts entering the 'notes'. In order to start entering the notes you need to highlight the section you want to enter notes, in this case, it's the top. Hit control + shift + M to change that top part into a MIDI clip so you can start entering the sounds at the bottom. So the bottom brown line represents the top brown line in the arrangement view. As you double-click on the bottom notes, they will show up top as well but you have to make sure the top has been selected or you will start accidentally entering notes for the other clips if they are MIDI clips. Hope this helps. I'm a total noob but I'm trying. I have zero musical knowledge so it will be a difficult climb for me but I'm determined.

Very instructional video, thank you. Can you please or someone help me understand when and why you decide to use MIDI tracks as opposed to Audio tracks to do your drums or percussion ideas. Thank you
@Antonio_Ortiz2 ай бұрын
Audio Tracks let you edit sounds a certain way, but adding audio to MIDI tracks puts them in a Simpler, which lets you edit audio in a different way/with different options.

Nice tutorial thanks so much. What would you or anybody else say the perks are to starting a drum beat in arrangement view over session view? I like how i can make a drum beat live on session view but this video taught me a lot with editing individual audios and effects. I just wonder is there a more consistent work flow state way to blend the two to get advantages from both views. Maybe my question seems a bit scarce as I am just starting to get the hang of Ableton and seem to alternate between the two...

I'm very very new to music making in general, one thing I can't wrap my head around is when I'm trying to lay down a beat like this, the beat that's in my head never lands on the bars and I end up with a beat that sound good but doesn't line up with the bars and it throws everything off. I don't quite know how to make a beat thats in my head line up with the bars
