During this pandemic when children have access to very few adults, we can bring extra magic into their lives by trying out new things ourselves. Face painting your kids is an affordable, artistic, bonding, delightful experience within reach of anyone wanting to give it a try. Enjoy your first step! Hello! I’m 12, turning 13 soon, and I’ve really been wanting to do face painting. I have found so many unhelpful videos that don’t really tell me much, but this video has helped me heaps, that I think I might start practicing right away. I love your idea of letting your child paint your face too. I recently dug out cheap makeup for my girls to play with to do my face and their own. I have also JUST started face painting in the last week to add to my business as a beautician. I am going to attend a course once lockdown is over in the UK. I think it will come in handy for part of festival makeup. I can't wait to play with it more and keep practicing. I'll be watching more of your tutorials ☺

Great questions! Marika- I have a video called Laura vs the wiggles that has a bunch of ideas. I am always rougher/less patient when painting my own kids. I think seeing it instruction instead of correction can make us a lot more gentle as well.

I bought a paint kit at Walmart but it’s liquid and it doesn’t stay and it’s very watery . The kit is for face painting , but it doesn’t really work and it won’t stay on the face .

It is just a bead case. Face paint is like modeling clay- you can always squish it in.

Nope- remember when working on the face skin absorbs everything you put on it- so use safe things. Also- they products made for the purpose work way better anyway.

I thought I was taking money at the gate for a local fundraiser, but the least skilled painter ever (me) got volunteered as a backup and here I am. I just hope I don't ruin any kid's fun time. Will stick to very simple options, no custom business lol... Thank you so much! This is the very first face painting video I have ever watched in my life because I am thinking of getting into it. But should you use disposable lip wands for the lips and avoid double dipping? I can't imagine the yuck factor if your palette is full of different kids' saliva. As a parent, I would be shocked.

This is a very valid concern- on the job I use disposable lip wands or q tips, and anytime there is something that makes my yuck factor set off, I retire the brush until it can be sterilized!

You can- but it is much easier to have a large cake of paint to load directly from, or cut paint into small rainbow and load with a brush.

Lets talk about okay....Paint is recommended to be used 1 year from time of opening. You can eat outdated food, it just doesnt taste as good. I don't have the qualifications to say for sure, but I imagine it would be better than painting with acrylic, and worse that fresh paint! haha-

I assume, if you're doing an event and using a lot of paint, you can spritz the paint with water, like you do with watercolor. I assume for group things that the mouth and just under the nose should be avoided, so you don't spread germs.
