The best clear explanation I have ever heard for my understanding on why I have such difficulties hitting the ball correctly. Exceptional Sir! Thank You So Much

Jonathan, thank you for this lesson. I have been struggling, these past four weeks, with this issue. This lesson has provided the foundational perspective I have been in need of. I now have a better understanding of what has to occur. I will practice later today and let you know how I got on.

Thank you, Jonathan. Your explanation make perfect sense to me. It really explains why I will have trouble when I don't rotate my body well.

I agree. If you control the low point, you can get the ball around the golf course.

Loved it 😊 I've had all of 2 lessons and haven't understood why I kept hitting so differently every time. This explanation of technique and natural movement will give me something to work on next time. The most difficult part is the pro telling me the techniques and then telling me not to think when hitting 😅

Hi Jonathan, thanks so much... I'm loving your videos and really appreciate your approach and methodical breakdown of how the swing mechanics work. However there's one point that I'm struggling to understand intuitively and it's clearly structural/fundamental. At the point that you introduce the body tilt/greater(variable)shaft angle(less ulnar variation) I'm struggling to understand the mechanics you're describing here. I've tried looking at your other videos where you discus "ulnar deviation" but I'm still scratching my head to understand how that shaft angle variation affects the point at which the club grounds without adding speed(perhaps change of speed) as a variable... I think you're saying that the flatter the lie angle the quicker you need to turn?..but I'm not sure of this... Is one outcome of these mechanics that short players(flatter lie angle)naturally compress the ball more?... 🤣there's definately a bit of this image that is eluding me... Glad if you could clarify but understand if not.

Mr. Taylor, are you suggesting that those who may find it difficult to turn enough should abandon the idea of hitting down on the ball?

It will certainly make it more difficult. I find that it is not that people can't turn, they just don't know how or when.

I am just learning how to golf. No lessons at all. Just went out 3 times with friends. I don’t know how to properly grip the club, stand, feet position, etc. I would think I would need to know these basics first before this part. But overall this was very informative. Thank you.

A very good technical explanation, however as a Certified Golf Instructor, in my option this is NOT the first lesson material. I think it is fair too much for a beginner to consume, and may end up being off-putting. I tend to focus on making the student understand the role of gravity in the swing, and trusting the role of the lower body for power and control, and not the arms. ie lets eliminate the need to "swing from the top", and eliminate "early extension", with proper pelvis rotation. For there. step up, ball position, low point control, delivery position, compression, release, and rotation all come easier. Just a thought.

Jonathan, I think amateurs don’t understand where the low point of the swing should be. Most amateurs try and make the low point just behind the ball, believing that this is the only way to get it off the ground.

Follow-up point - it’s hard for amateurs to visualize the low point just after the ball because the low point isn’t visible to them. That is, you’re looking at the back of the ball in the swing, so you never can quite visualize a point just beyond this.

Good approach, but keep the info simple and not too much info at once.
