I literally just bought this charger when getting my first big boy quad. It was delivered today! Can't open till Christmas. I actually picked the charger for the reasons stated due to the flexibility and the fact that I did not have anything else in my collection yet and didn't want to deal with an external power source. I liked that I can use it for field charging as well. It does sound like a great "first" charger.

I work at hobby store and I've tested probably around 40 chargers. And tbh my absolute best is skyrc d250. Its pretty cheap has 125W per port 2 ports lihv program(suprisingly many chargers still lack it_ and its damn accurate. It also has build in power supply and IT TALKS!!!! And i highly prefer that over this anoying high pitch noise most of the chargers make(you can switch to that if you prefer) it might be like nothing but makes you smile each time you turn it on as well as such a small thing as build in power switch so you can keep it plugged into your wall outlet. Another thing is aluminum case and high quality feel, probably the only con i have for this charger is its very low discharge rate. You should rl review this charger.

So, here's my problem with that charger as a travel charger when you go on that airplane, because this one is oh so lighter. I don't know about you guys, but when I traveling with my quads assuming I took a plane somewhere, I don't have nearly the amount of time to charge batteries as I do at home, and that's when I really need to charge packs as fast as I can. If you're parallel charging, the D6 Duo Pro is the best travel charger hands down. You can't get a more compact combo of a charger and a PSU that can crank 200W.

Might upgrade to this from the cheap/older design (likely both) "HTRC B6 V2" that may or may not be the reason or contributing factor why every flight LiPo I have is puffed. That and/or poor battery management in flight and over-discharging. I was using older advice to not go below 13.8v on a 4S pack, not the newer advice to not go below 3.5v/cell. It couldn't have been more than $35, the indicated voltage jumps around a little suggesting component selection issues, and the LCD is a monochrome character display. For capabilities, it can do up to 80w, up to 6A, up to 6S, and is only nameplated for up to 18v input, so I can't power it off a 5s or 6s (or a laptop brick!) safely. Fortunately I have 12v bricks laying around to power it with, and it plays nice with my power stations. Balancing current is TERRIBLE and balancing a pack takes *forever.* Accessory features include cell voltage, cell IR, ability to charge older chemistries (lead, nickel) as well as Li-Ion, LiPo, and LiFePo4, discharge mode (VERY low wattage though, a 4S can only discharge at 600mA and makes the unit very toasty!) and a voltage/current regulated power supply mode, although this mode is a little fickle due to the battery disconnect safety still being armed. I wouldn't power a sensitive or low power device with it.

Charging batteries on 1C is not so good for batteries as it looks. Because if you charge at 1C you charge at home sometimes one day before flying, because you do not hawe time to charge so slowly at field. And those batteries stay full a lot of time which is bad for bateries. Most modern batteries can be charged at 5C or ewen more, they are full in 10 minutes, and you use them inmidiatly after charged.

IMHO one charger spec that is often over looked is the Balance Current. I purchased 4 of the ToolkitRC M8 to replace some aging IChargers based on the positive reviews. Turns out the Balance Current for the M8 is only 400mah. When charging large packs like a 5000mah 6S pack the charge time is often twice what it should be due to the charger not being able to balance it quickly enough. On the small 1500Mah 4S packs it is a much smaller problem. For this reason I don't recommend the M8 to friends that use the larger packs and looking to replace mine.

i still think beginners should buy 2 or 3 accucell chargers before investing in the expensive ones, avoid parallel charging as much as possible, (ever) and as a general rule try to have as many batteries as you can instead of finding yourself needing to recharge while out on a session. get 10 batteries and two cheap chargers, then buy a 3rd and 4rth cheap charger, if you charge above 1 C expect the batteries to die much sooner, small differences in cell health get magnified when you go above 1 C,

@@TheMadmacs Well the first accucell didn't do HV so I bought the next version and both of those didn't have AC power supply(I would have had to buy it) plus the menu navigation is poor compared to anything newer. The Q6 was smaller, way easier to use and has a much better charging algorithm, more power. I only use the one accucel to charge goggle and TX packs while flight packs are on the Q6. Plus I found out real fast waiting to charge one pack at a time sucked so I have been parallel charging for a long time. I keep everything that works so that is why I haven't upgraded further. Yes and no. By pure wattage you're right. But you wind up with only a single channel that way. And then there's the portability factor. Try packing that charger and that server PSU with you along with everything else you gotta take when you take a plane flight and want to bring your quads. Taking a D6 Duo Pro is so much more compact and convenient. Comparing the D6 Duo without the internal PSU? Again, you are missing the second channel with the T6.

Got my 608 and it gives me wacky per cell readings, says I have some cells at 1.9v others at 5.85! I pull the battery and check it with my multimeter and it says it's in storage voltage range. It also likes to switch the cell count on me when I leave that menu then go back to it...as in put it on 6s and come back to find it now says 4s! Unfortunately it was purchased as a gift and had been sitting in a drawer waiting to be given to me. The easy Amazon return option is long gone and the idea of dealing with China does not fill me with joy. Hope you have better luck than I did.

In the long run it's better to start with a better charger. You will out grow a low powered charger really fast.

D6 Duo AC is quite a good charger in anyway, two channel, 200W AC, not very big(comparing to other AC chargers at this power)

You didn’t say anything about balance current as it’s very important feature and yeah I guess ISDT 608ac has 1500mA.

the reputation for isdt is... two chargers fail with the "imposible calibration" error. after 10 packs. mail from isdt was a firmware update which solves nothing. sometimes expensive are more expensive..

My first was /is the T8 and I use a 24v 15a supply, I'm thinking about moving up to a 36v 20a supply, or possible 48v 15a, I don't recall what the voltage limit is, I will likely use a DC boost converter, to charge my 7s liion bank with it, I mostly use it on single cells now, it's a nice charger the controls can be annoying!!

@Joshua Bardwell - Thinking to go with either ISDT 608AC which already comes with both options, AC as well as DC, and it's basically the same price of the other option... the other option being ToolkitRC M7 + ADP-100 power supply. What would you prefer, ISDT or ToolkitRC in this case? I am trying to decide which one to go with as my first 6s battery charger. I do have SkyRC S65 and love that thing, but unfortunately it goes up to 4s only. Thank you so much for your kind advice in advance!

I'd take the ISDT as toolkitrc sometimes has issues with build quality.

@@JoshuaBardwell - Thank you so much for your kind reply, greatly appreciated! I guess if I go with ISDT D1, which is just a little more expensive than that ToolkitRC combo I've mentioned above, is it safe to say D1 is definitely better option then (I mean even better than ISDT 608AC)?

Just found your channel and love all the great info. I'm not a FPV person, would these be appropriate for larger RC truck packs? Say a 3s 6000mah? Thank you for the great content!

With a 3s 6000mah - youre looking at 5-6amps max charge rate simply because the size of that 3s is massive. I'd suggest getting smaller 3s mAh batteries if you get the 608ac. If you need 6000mAh batteries, get a 100+ Watt charger

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're charging multiple batteries this means you will have less current output. I = P/V so as you add more batteries, the voltage rises which decreases current. This seems backwards to me because I would think the charger would have to output more current to account for the multiple batteries it needs to feed. Could you clear this confusion for me? Thanks.

the only problem with ISDT is their LCD, vignetting after 2 years of use (mine gets worse after 3 years). I don't know if they fix them in the latest batch. But mine and a couple of friends of mine get the same problem.

I bought ToolkitRC M8, in my experience it's bad charger. Mine shows 0.2v too much per cell at stock, good thing I checked. I did calibrate it but I don't trust that charger at all. No I need to buy a good one.

im building batteries for powertools, so i will be at home all the time when do it. i need my battery cells to be balanced before i start put them together, what is good recommendation? just as cheap as possible. i dont need it to be fast charged, coz once batteries are assembled, the dedicated charger for the tool will do the job. all i need is balance them.

3.7 is the nominal voltage. 4.2 per cell is full charge.

The B6AC is only $15 cheaper and has a worse interface and fewer features. The B6 is $30 cheaper but doesn't come with a power supply so it isn't a fair comparison.

It was my first charger. I managed to smoke it on the second day as a begginer. Its claims of several amps discharge were bald and as a beginner in EE, I actually belived it. Hooked it onto a 3S12P LiIon in need of a slight discharged and out came the smoke. Its fried for good. You know why? The software didnt limit me to the max discharge of 2A...Sadly. It has potencial but lacks the final touches for it to be customer ready.

excellent review, I'm well impressed with this chargers extra over options. My skyRC d100 is crap at balancing out the batteries nicely, I like these extra functions in this unit, and the ability to tune the end voltage etc. Is the Hota D6 pro a rebadge or clone of this product ?? sure looks like it ??
