3rd week with my Frenchie puppy! 1. Crate training helped tremendously especially with a stubborn breed. It’s though! 2. In order to sleep I keep him in the living room 3. Let him cry he’ll adjust 4. When you first get him take time off. 5. Make sure they play it out before you try to put them in the crate 6.adding pumpkin to food eliminates them eating their poop makes poop taste bitter. 7 set boundaries in the house or they’ll potty everywhere. 8. Ohhhh and stick to a routine! Ziggy was puppy pad trained in two weeks and follows main commands and sleeps through the night . Hopefully this helps someone cuz I was googling and YouTubing everything

I must be lucky. First week with my new frenchie. No crying at all. Puppy sleeps fine through the night. I get up and take it out when I wake up at night having to pee. 11 weeks old and she has only pee'd in her kennel once. She has stayed in there for up to 6 hours at night.

Well these are common things to think about for all dogs. Apparently smaller dogs take longer to potty train… I’ve dabbled in training almost all the breeds and I haven’t come across this problem yet. How I got my sleep was to have a soft travel crate right on my bed. She was in there to sleep at night. I’d unzip it enough to have my forearm in there. I could touch her if she started to stir. Most times if she stirred, I’d take her out to potty, but sometimes it was just lonely and crying for her puppy Mayes and mum. As for the eating poop. If you got from a breeder and the breeder didn’t start the potty training. There is a section rule. A space for sleeping and playing, a space for eating and space for pooping. When it’s feed time, you move them to the area, feed and then move them to the poo section. Most puppies will need to potty after eating. Normally adults want to go out, mark territoy or just potty… hunt.. then eat. So I always take them out for some potty and scouting time then we come in and they eat. When she was a puppy, as she’d be on a leash, it wasn’t hard to just move her head from the poo. I let her sniff her poo so she can assess her status and then move her along. But that’s in my own yard. I pick up the poo in the evening. She stopped trying to eat it. And of course, no smart person is going to leave the poo out in public and then stand there while their dog eats it, the owner would already be picking it up. . As for them bed and sleeping and furniture. This is true. If you aren’t going to want them to do something, start as a puppy to stop them. Training should be with in the three rules for dogs. Train and care for according to their species. Train and care for according to their breed. And then lastly. Train and care for according to their individual needs. Meaning 1. Always train them in a way that the canine can use all their natural abilities and feed them their natural diet for a healthy and happy longer life than those unfortunate to be on kibble. 2. Train the tricks that this breed is bred for and care for its personal hygiene needs such as shedding, bathing, physical health. 3. Train and care for its individual being would be maybe your dog is blind or deaf or a barker, or stealthy, frightened and full of anxiety or a Sasshole like mine. This should help training and care to be much easier. Still stressful but hard.

You nailed it, mine is only 9 weeks old and what a character. I'm struggling with the potty training right now. Learning when he needs to go. He will pee on the pad but won't poop on it because the breeder taught him not to. Which isn't a big deal because I want him to learn to do both outside and when he has I praise him but he's so young he's still Learning. Ty for the tips.

I know that I have a long journey ahead, as she has no potty training. She is like having a newborn. Patience is the key for frenchies and any other dog. I have only had her 4 days, she sleeps very well, she has no control over peeing and pooping, but just in the few day and a consistent routine is acclimating very well. Thank you for your video.

Lol, I laughed out loud at the first one: SLEEP. My frenchie puppy deal was sealed faster than expected last Saturday and they brought him over Sunday morning. I didn't get ANY sleep before he arrived. Let's just say Monday was pretty dreadful... and I've needed to take some naps with him to get some sleep in. Also very challenging trying to work while you have a puppy that you need to train and him doing everything he isn't supposed to do. I have gone through this with a pug puppy 12 years ago, so I needed to remind myself that yes it was like this, it's just been a long time and "hey, you wanted a puppy, now live with it!" lol.. Luckily my frenchie boy has learned (besides few accidents) that he needs to go to the bathroom for number two already and we are working on getting number one there too, and not anywhere else. He also only wakes up once a night and though he did show some symptoms of getting too alert after pee or poo in the night luckily I've been able to calm him down rather quickly, I just take him to bed and give him his toy and we cuddle up and soon he forgets the toy... so we've been able to get to sleep pretty soon after which has been a lifesaver for me this week, or first five days really as it's not been a week yet. My frenchie is quite mischievous and gets around to everything, so I have had my days packed trying to absorb all his behavioral patterns and quirks so I can get ahead of him. But he is a handful alright. I am so looking forward to the weekend (not that that changes routines much) lol

Your mileage may vary. Our puppy is 2 months old today. We picked her up last weekend. She is such a good girl. She bats over .500 on the pads. She doesn't cry but she gets scared. Only have to wake up once around 4-5am to clean up. This is so much easier than human babies, but our friends tell us we got lucky.

Wow! I just came across this video and I got my frenchie Onyx at 11 weeks & the 16th of this month will make having him for 2 months.. I love him very much but those first few weeks I contemplated giving him back ALOT 😂 && EVERYTHING he just said are facts! These dogs are very stubborn and want to be dominant. You really have to establish who is alpha cause if not they will walk all over you. Yes they are just puppies but you have to have a strong tone sometimes. I’m so glad that I’m getting out of the not listening phase and into the he finally is giving me cues for when he has to pee and poop outside. That was the toughest for me cause I have OCD and I can’t stand the pee smell. Also don’t let them have access to the whole house that’s a privilege for when they behave. For the biting find positive things for them to bite on (teething bone kits helped) even while playing don’t let them bite your hands and feet; if not they will continue to think it’s a game even if they hurt you. Frenchies don’t know when to calm down, they get very riled up to the point there little hearts beat very fast. You have to calm them down, I do it by either laying him on his side and holding down til his heart rate and breathing slows down. I won’t let him up til he is calm, or hugging him with a firm grip to my chest til he calms down and is ready to drink water and lay down. For new pup parents your doing a great job keep being firm and consistent. It will pay off for you and the pup having an obedient animal. Cause at the end of the day unconditional love still comes with boundaries. But once they know that, these dogs are AMAZINGLY LOVING, goofy, & will enhance your life for the better! ❤ Good luck!

Good video to have made. Especially for new owners of FB's. First dog or just this breed. I have a 4 year old Pug. Who are usually similars to FB's. Not mine. He knew when to sleep. He'd even leap onto my bed or where he'd sleep on my sofa. At the right time. Never had to train him to do that. He knew. I could even continue with what I was doing and he'd just sleep on into the early morning hours. Never woke me in the middle of the night (or "morning"). Doesn't get off my bed or sofa till I tell him "...it's time to get up". I could walk away in the morning to make a pit stop. He'd stay put. Interesting how Pugs look like FB's and visa versa. FB's like Pugs with their ears standing up all the time. :) Otherwise nearly identical. Great dogs. both breeds.

Coming from someone that has volunteered their ass off and unfortunately could never take out all of the animals in the shelters., I just cannot find it in myself to respect anyone that does breeding. I'm so sorry for the animals that are waiting to get out while so many ignorant human beings are selfishly breeding because they want that ""specific breed"" like a specific type or brand of something. After seeing the suffering firsthand and feeling so deeply for the animals that are waiting to be adopted and taken out of that place before their time is up..,there should be no place in our world for breeding or selling of animals as pets until the shelter problem has been eradicated but because of situations like this it is less likely. We hear it all the time when they ask us to please spay and neuter our pets and adopt but yet selfish humans are so stuck in their ways. Maybe in the next life these humans should be born as animals that might come across a shelter situation.,so once they know what it feels like then they'll open their eyes?

And you CANNOT crate them all day long, they require more training then the average pup. But once they mature they are so awesome to have around. They eat anything they can find on the ground so keep an eye on them, they get into things... be ready to laugh, they can be very comical. I’m curious what your thoughts are on taking over ownership of someone else’s Frenchie? A friend is going out of the country for work for a couple of years and can’t take his 6 month old Frenchie with him. He’s a doctor going to Africa with doctor without borders. So he asked if I would consider taking him from him. I also currently have a 10 year old female Chihuahua. So my second question is how is a male Frenchie with other breeds?

Mine has the hiccups but it sounds more like a snore so now I'm scared he has breathing problems.

Do you think I'll do okay being a first timer and working from home? And..... having a virtual student?🥴

Update: I am in love with my little boy! He is trained and so chill with my 8 yr old while she is doing school. Love him to pieces. He is the best thing to have saved my child's spirits emotionally during this pandemic.
