the biggest issue with the man of war comp is that there's no play in it, with the star racing comp, theres a little bit of play so when the torque hits in the comp it protects your drivetrain. the man of war will put alot of stress on your engine case and eventually cracks it. it helps darkhorse sell their cases lol
@sickwideglide5 ай бұрын
Not quite a completely accurate statement. The darkhorse crank has poly bushings in it to absorb the shockload w/o the needed “play” that you referenced and the star comp is a stock remake just made of billet/forged steel instead of cast
@expandingourhorizons94555 ай бұрын
I have a darkhorse manowar on my 2015 ultra limited 103. I went with the dark horse due to my comp was worn out and the darkhorse can be rebuilt and you dont even have to take it off the bike to do it. I figured if you have to fix it once, you might as well put best in it. I have almost 50k on my bike and have no plans on getting rid of it.

Blockhead, crew and other fans I am in need of knowledge. My 2008 Roadking 96ci stock motor with 35,xxx miles has begun to make a grinding noise on startup, now when it’s a cold fresh start it will start with no hesitation and no grinding. Let’s say i start it up fresh cold start and go to gas it up, or even going to the gym for two hours, the time it’s off and warm it will give me the grinding noise and the starter and motor will continue to turn over until it either starts or i pull in the clutch to take away some of the stress on start up, i have read that the compensator and starter should probably both be replaced at the same time but im not entirely sure if its the starter or the clutch basket where the starter gear is working with the clutch basket gear. please correct me if im wrong, and any advice would be appreciated. thank you in advance!

My stock comp on my 2015 fxdl failed at about 33,000. With just a stage one and tuner. I had stock auto tensioner still in there and tend to roll off hard from high rpm in San diego twistys. But was clanking around badly like marbles in a can of spray paint.

my 19 triglide had it happen at 19k and limped it to the house which was a mile down the road but didn't have anywhere to stop and leave the bike on the side of the road. Seems to be a extremely normal issue though sadly of the compensator's going out. Oh yeah ended up with a new motor under warranty because it ended up in the entire motor from what the dealership told me good thing I had a few days left on the warranty when it happened. So been crossing my fingers it won't happen again but I do know now what it sounds and feels like when it goes though..and honestly though the more I see people with this issue on the m8s I very well might upgrade it before it strands me somewhere.
