@@DecadesApartBandSTL I am the same ever since I can remember. At age 7, I asked my doctor for my appenendix after they removed it and the doctor gave it to me in a beautifully sealed bottle, much to the horror of my mom who made it disappear. I used to freak my teachers out as a little girl bringing huge spiders to school for show and tell. I have always loved biology and science, my dad a farmer's son encouraged it.😃

If you're able, I'd love to see an examination of a patient that had congestive heart failure, I'd love to see the difference between that and a healthy heart. My mom has pregnancy induced chf and she's been living with it for almost 18 years now, she gets told she's going to die multiple times a year but she's still kicking somehow! Because of this I've become very interested in how the heart functions and how it can function in someone at only 15% capacity (which she's dropped down to multiple times, I think she's at 20% right now) it's just so fascinating

I find this fascinating as a nurse. Just cared for a patient with a very large pericardial effusion. It was so stressful monitoring the observations as the effusion grew, the heart rate went up alarmingly obviously because the heart was having more trouble beating under pressure. I was just so relieved when the Drs finally decided to take the patient to have the effusion tapped. This video will help me teach my students. Many thanks.

Thanks for the explanation. I had pericarditis in 2016, was in and out of the hospital twice. First for two days, second time a week later for 5 days. My P.B was 85/56 on entry and 115/70 at discharge. I was on Colchicine for about a month. My cardiologist says my heart is strong, very strong. The problem was a build-up of the fluid, or efflusion, as you explained. Again, thanks for the explanation. Jon

So I went to a doctor once with a sharp chest pain. He listened with a stethoscope, then said, it's not the type of pain you would expect from a problem with the heart, it's probably a muscle. Then sent me home with some ibuprofen. That was 15 years or so ago. I still occasionally get a bit of this pain, just not as bad. Seeing this, I think they should've done a bit more tests just to be sure.

I had pericarditis for a period of time in the 90's. Would last for a few days then go away and return a month later. After an exam/xray Dr. said I had "a fair amount of fluid build". Put on high dose of Prednisone with a year of taper and that seemed to clear it out. Man that pain would make me double over.

I've got recurrent pericarditis right now and it's absolute hell. Like a never ending anxiety inducing heart attack. Have had it 10-12 times over the last year and the flare I'm in right now is insane. An inflammation marker in my blood was 93 when the normal range is 1-4... wouldn't wish this horrible disease on my worst enemy.
