I was at a small business store looking for a 2nd stick and I actually went down to an intermediate stick bc they offered me a CCM Jetspeed 65 flex P29 at 50% off so I couldn't pass it up. I freaking love it!!!! So I still haven't tried the P28 yet lolol! My backhand shot has suffered since switching from the P88 which saddens me, but I just have to spend some time working on it and figuring it out with the new stick. I still haven't even taken a shot with a P28. I ought to ask a teammate if someone has one so I can see what it's all about!

@@juliegatesman9501 I will say that the P28 is not the best curvre (for me) To shoot on my back hand, so there's that to consider. However, I have seen plenty of my better teamates roof some back hand with the curve haha. But for me, it feels like the puck is glued to my stick when I play with it, so its worth it for me.

As a casual beer leaguer - I am constantly looking for reviews on the "team" level sticks, Vapor 3x, Ribcor Team, Tacks Team, etc. They dont exist. I would love to see you guys do reviews on comparing these mid level sticks at the ~$170 range because this is what a majority of people searching for can afford and are using. My local hockey shop doesnt carry these, only the top of the line sticks so its impossible to even test them before buying. Please do this!!

I suspect this channel gets sticks for free directly from the manufacturers. So they end up pushing the high end high profit stuff. I agree with you, I don’t need top end, and I don’t like low end.

I would like to see CCM or Bauer, Launch open days at Rinks. Charge people £10-20entry, and they have Demo’s of their equipment, sticks, skates etc. and you can try them all out in a 2 hours session. Ice hire is about £200 an hour, so 20 players paying £20 covers the Ice hire. So if you had 30 you cover staff costs. Etc etc.

They have both done this in the past. It just doesn't regularly make it into the UK due to cost (and normally not for rec players). If hockey was bigger here, they would :(

Definitely like the idea of having reviews on more affordable sticks. I just got a stick on sale from ProStockHockeySticks for $110 (That is the actual brand, not just Bauer or CCM sticks that are pro stock). It feels pretty good, but I don't have much to compare it to because I can't afford to buy a bunch of sticks for testing. I heard Custom Hockey Sticks also makes good twigs, but they are around $150. There is also NoName Hockey. I'm not sure if you can find a really good stick for under $100 these days because of inflation, but I'm all ears if you do. Personally, instead of Tommy ranking sticks by overall performance, I would rather see him rank sticks by categories. Which stick shoots the best slap shot, which shoots the best snapshot, which is best at puck handling. The problem with just going by his preference for all around is that he might have priorities that are different from ours. He could place a stick high because of a great snapshot, but what if we prioritize stick handling? By breaking down by categories, I think it would give us a much better picture of which stick is right for us. Of course, he can still have an all around winner. But a break down would be great.

@@HockeyTutorialOfficial Hey, glad to hear it. I've pretty much watched all your stick review videos and skate review videos, so I look forward to seeing your new ones. I got really confused in the past with the rankings because some sticks were ranked higher than others in one video only to be ranked lower than the same sticks in subsequent videos. You explained the discrepancy as Tommy picking sticks based on his personal preference in one video vs trying to rank sticks for the general public in another. I think adding a ranking by category would clear this up. Thanks for being responsive to the community. 👍

So great to see Hockey Growing in The UK.. we take hockey for granted here in Canada. It is a way of life here.. We spend so much time as kids in the arena.. and when you become a parent it starts all over again.. At least I’m my case that’s what happened. As I come to the end of my Sons Minor hockey life I’m dreading the Season that begins without him registered to play. I only hope he will continue with possibly a Juvenile team or Beer league even.. I wonder how many Canadians would recognize what the t shirt logo means here in Canada??

I have narrowed down my spec into what I like after 2 years of really testing and thinking about it, p28 95 flex 64” mid kick. I have been playing for 11 years and over time I learned that I really fit the role of the stand up point man who rips shots from no closer than 15 feet off the blue line. From the d zone I have found that any lower of a flex makes my pass lag a bit due to it flexing like a wrist shot and not hitting where I like.

Definitely mixing the affordable sticks is really helpful, I did like splitting the low kick in one video and mid kick in the other. I went from a W03/P92 to a P28 recently and like it, but still have my old stick is I feel like I need to go back. I have to main stick now that I go back and forth with if I want that differnt feel. My main stick is a Warrior Alpha LX Pro at 80 flex with a P28 curve. Then I have two back up sticks that are CCM Tacks AS2 pros. I have a mid-kick CCM AS-570 and a hybrid FT 5 as a stay-at-home defenseman they are completely different. Not just in shots, but against the boards, lifting sticks, and passing is all very different with either stick. Honestly, I wish I had just bought another mid-kick, not a huge fan of the hybrid for my style of play. So I would stay defiantly break up hybrid and mid-kick but if Tommy tests them then he may not feel the same differences as a D man like myself. Shooting is like 20% of my game.

When I started playing, composite shafts with replaceable blades were commonly used, as were wooden sticks. Wooden sticks were much cheaper than today's one=piece sticks, which allowed players to try different curves and flexes quite easily. Today, sticks and equipment are so costly that the average youth player is not able to sample equipment in order to find out what works bes for them. And, for many of us living in small hockey markets, stores don't carry a wide array of equipment; so, even if money isn't an issue for a player, it may not available to buy in a local store. The best advice I would give to the average player looking to sample an arrary of gear in order to find out what works best for them would be to buy used gear.

I think a break down on the cheaper sticks is a good idea, but compare them to the top spec sticks. With the mid ranged priced sticks let us know if they perform closer to the higher end or lower end. Thats a struggle i have, figuring out the performance difference between the $150, $250 and $350+ sticks, does the $250 stick perform more similar to the $150 or $350 stick. Im no longer a competitive player beong in my 30's so im not going to buy a top spec stick but i would be more inclinde to buy a mid to high mid range stick if it performs closer to the high end stick.

I second for all black hockey sticks. They have their standard $89 stick, a 12k carbon fiber stick for $101 and an $18k carbon fiber stick for $133. The catch is for the 12k and 18k, you have to buy three of them. I got a three set of the 12ks and am loving them. Would love a comparison of all three and how they compare to other bigger brands. Also, all black has a super easy and consistent stick customization process. A little contradictory to your video, one of the reasons that I keep going back to all black is that I know that I can get the exact same spec’d stick every single time, without having to do research on what these bigger brands have decided to name their products this year. 😂

For budgets, perhaps +5% or +10% would be ideal - a £105 product is probably more inline with other products ~£100, than with the next price point up (150/200/250) Or maybe do it by the price's target audience as opposed to by the actual value (£99 and £101 are basically the same, but would be in 2 different lists otherwise)

I think you should do a series about "hidden gems" or whatever you want to call it. I manage 2 pro shops and we always have older sticks that we mark down to sell. Tons of little shops have sticks for under $150 or even $100 that were $200 sticks, but maybe they're 2 seasons old or it's the last one we have and we're trying to sell it quick. For example, I have Alpha QX's for $140, Trigger 6 Pro for $180, or even like a Ribcor 65k for under $100. Little shops are a great place to go, Pure Hockey and these big retailers want to sell the newest most expensive thing. As pro shops we're trying to educate and sell you want you actually need, we aren't trying to sell Trigger 7 Pro's to your 12 year old. Heck we start every kid under like 6 with a straight blade wood sticks and let them figure out their better side. No reason to waste money early. I stock cheap sticks with different curves for people to try like Krypto Pro's or FT465's, even team sticks.

Average Eskate in the house!! I roll my 'zoom stick' like a MF and your videos have been a great resource 🤜🤛 I've never played hockey but I friggin love it. I got one of those saucer game kits for me and my friends to fuck around and have fun. I have learned that hockey stick construction is EF'N complicated and the different blade curve charts make my head hurt. If you can throw me some advice that would be dope❤

How common is ice hockey in the UK? Not going to lie, initially, the accents took me out of it! The content is top tier though, and I've been coming back ever since. S/O from Ontario, Canada!

How do I know my spec is correct? I spend way too much money. Until you get it on the ice, you don't know.

I buy what ever is on sale or clearance under $100. 🤷 Sideline swap has sticks as low as $35 U.S. A spec stick isn't gonna make me play any better.

You're not wrong there. So long as it's a decent curve, correct flex. Cheaper is the way forward.
