This sounds like a deep clean every turn around is crazy and we don’t even get 50% of the cleaning fees . We also have to clean poop or bloody pads or blood on the floor being left behind by the guess and I don’t know if the host charges them extra after but we sure don’t get paid for all that .. I can clean all that but that’s going to be extra but I’m not cleaning for seven hrs for less then 200 and they get the credits for it .. host should be paying for a deep clean not expect us to clean it all the time and we don’t clean fans we have like a list of over 100 things or more to do and wants it cleaned in 5 hrs .. guess should be picking up their pads or condom wraps they are not kids .. host wants to be cheap paying the cleaners crappy money and I notice a lot of airbnbs not getting cleaned right ..

As a superhost (and cleaning fanatic!!) I was really surprised to receive a 3 from one of my guests. I received a 'warning' from Airbnb about cleaning standards which was pretty upsetting as my place was always spotlessly clean. I wrote to my guest asking him what the problem had been and he replied 'I only ever rate 3. Live with it.' 😳

Most things he's talking about are deep clean things that should be done periodically like baseboards fans and vents, tho as a cleaner I do bathroom baseboards every cleaning, most hosts want to pay cleaners less than cleaning fee so only basic cleaning gets done in between flips , bathrooms and kitchens should be cleaned thoroughly every cleaning, under couches and beds should be checked every cleaning but fans baseboards and vents are a deep clean and should be monitored and told to host when they start to get bad then a deep cleaning should be scheduled

Im real thorough & i do most of them fe when i started the prev cleaner had dust 2in thick on the air vent i was shocked he had no complaints, fans caked thick w dust, that oven thing is true, its like a wax its so greasy. Another thing in surprised when i clean behind other cleaners is the bottom of toilets like the sides where the pipes are. Ive seen them so nasty. That’s I do a deep clean when i start new properties and do them every 2months. Ive had the same 3 superhost for 6+ mon.

I’m a super host and manage several condos in Destin Florida… One of the things is a must and I require my cleaning staff and or cleaning company do … after sweeping, and vacuuming, and BEFORE mopping … I have them use a swiffer flat head mop with dusting pad. Under all the furniture, especially the couch, the beds underneath nightstands, and just a quick once around the baseboards, it makes a huge difference and only takes a few minutes.

These are great suggestions. However, cleaners have a budget to work with. Hosts have a budget to work with. You can make a great list of things to clean, but allow the time needed and increase your cleaning fee so your costs are covered.

if you have rock edging on walk ways, make sure to sweep them off sidewalk. you dont want your guests rolling an ankle on them. also, screens on windows and screen doors, make sure window is closed on entry screen door and carry a screen roller for quick repairs on rubber screen trim. and then theres the shower curtain, check often for discoloration on bottom from being wet and inside tub to long.(always remember " a folded shower curtain gets moldy" happy cleaning

Ionizer is great for smells and it also kills bugs, mice, or anything else that is alive in the place that shouldn't be (note: it will kill plants too). The other big rule is NO HAIRS. I find it gross when I find hairs in a hotel whether it is bedding, shower, counters, etc. Have a lint roller, duct tape, etc. so you can clean any surface where hair accumulates and it hard to clean off with cleaners, rags, etc.

I was a house cleaner for almost 10 years, today I own couple homes and starting airbnb, these are part of regular cleaning.I mean maybe not opening the stove drawer, but handles, air vents, fans under bed ,couches (unles its a bed with no space under and u would have to move bed)which in that case i would ask home owners to either move it because if i hurt my back i would have to stay home days, medical etc..but even then sometimes they were elderly, i would use swifter.I would understand if if was once a month ,but airbnb this is usually done multiple times a week sometimes 10x a month to leave a house accumulate is just bad job.

For us the most commonly missed things we notice as guests is the bbq and outside patio. The last two places we stayed had dead roaches on the patio (granted it’s the dessert and that’s common, but to an out of state guest who is unfamiliar with the ecosystem of the desert might note that as a complaint). As for the bbq, it’s either not cleaned thoroughly or the bbq tools are dirty. Personally I would keep the bbq tools inside. Some hosts don’t have room I suppose.

So it’s so demanding this cleaning. Now you are saying full refund will be forward to guest if they find it not clean. You know how the quests are. They are so happy to find a accommodation homely at the centre of the town clean ofcourse. Good host. But still as you know if there is a door to save money they are good at creating So for the refund stuation I would very much like to know exactly a list . I like this journey of hosting to be fun enjoyable relax helpful and good Valued. It’s a hard work. Refunds should be like it was before. It was a clear contract. Now it’s all over the place. VAYZI IZYAV My property in Puerto Vallarta Mexico is a large 7 bedroom / 8 full baths . All king beds plus to sleeper sofas . I have two laundry rooms . My beds are made with a king set of sheets plus 4 large pillows and accent pillows . I do my own sheets (14) and pillow cases ( 28) . Thats enough work for me considering i use only white 100% cotton sheets and most always have to be pre - treated for stains before washing . I use to request guests strip the sheets off the beds ... but not any more . I have found it much easier to see sheets that need more spot cleaning when the sheets are fully stretched out on the beds . I give each of my guests ( usually 14 at a time ) a bath towel, had towel ,face cloth and pool towel and a cold moist face cloth upon arrival. Also the kitchen has 4 dish towels for a total of about 60 towels ! Phew ! I use a laundry service for them as i don’t want that much wear n tear on my washers / dryers . The remainder of my time is spent ironing the 28 king pillow cases . I also water spray each bed top sheet and hand smooth them out to make the sheets look ironed . I dont use any bed spreads in Mexico . My beds are all pristine white and i get comments from guests on noticing their bed being ironed . A beautiful bed at first sight leaves an impression !

Airbnb is not helping me at all. I had a guest that claimed 8 guest and it was 30, damaged property, climb on the roof, smoked weed, did illegal fireworks in a middle of a cul-de-sac in a wooded area that could’ve burned down somebody’s home. They left me a bad review and called me racist when I was out of town. I been trying to tell them and emailed them about it and they don’t respond back. I call them and they just say there is a ticket on it but we can’t help. This was 2 weeks ago. I’m pissed with them. It cost me 350$ just to clean the weed smell out of the house. This excuse of they are unstaffed is a lie so they don’t pay out.

I had the same issue, we had one guest book for 4 people and 30 people caused over 22k in damages to my house. We were lucky to have amazing guests in our other unit that told us this as it was happening and had the cops intervene however, Airbnb was absolutely useless in the resolution part (their emergency line did not even take our calls while it was happening). It took 24 hours just to get a response that someone would get back to us, that took over 2 weeks. Now it is in review and we have to spend hours putting everything together. We were completely sold out for the summer and now we are getting 4 star reviews because the place is no longer immaculate. We did not want to cancel the resos because Airbnb does not refund loss business due to the actions of another person (that is complete hogwash in my opinion). Whether white, black, yellow, brown or blue, I would have treated them the same way. This is basic human respect. Fake guests are all over Airbnb and these people are doing the minimum verification and getting automated bookings in then destroying the places and running away. We got all the license plates and found everyone (almost everyone) via their social media which the police said helped a lot. Funniest thing, the next weekend, we saw on their socials they rented another place and they destroyed that place too. Where is Airbnb in all this - how are they protecting us? Our cleaning bill was over 3k for this mess and things are still shoddy. The effects of something like this cannot be erased unless you fully renovate but that will cost us money on top of us having to cancel resos. truly a shame that Airbnb does not fight for its hosts - without hosts - there is no Airbnb.

Can you do this tutorial in Spanish? It’s been very hard to impart the importance of these details. My housekeeper thinks I’m just neurotic....she might be right!

No you’re not neurotic. Housekeepers in general do not clean with such detail. She has to get on board. I gave up on housekeepers a while ago.

is anyone else having problems dealing with airbnb staff regarding damages? Within a 3 days of a guest leaving, I filed a complaint against him because he did not return our suite keys and damaged a bunch of linens wiping greasy parts with them. I was told a support person will get back to me within 24 hours. 1 week later, I get a response and they send me a link to where to file a claim and assure me that the claim process has been started, well, the link does not allow me to upload a picture of damaged items, making the claim unable to complete. Another phone call to the idiots, and they assure me that all is well and to wait for another response. Another response sends me a link to where I can email photos and damage info. 3 weeks of delays due to their incompetence, and I get an email rejecting my claim stating that I'm past the 14 days of being able to make a claim. What a shit show Airbnb has become. A multi billion organization run by a a bunch of incompetent turds. Moving on to other platforms just our of frustration.

@@AirbnbAutomated I appreciate that he said he was not trying to 'hate' ... it just spilled out as hate LOL. Just had a guest that booked then got the booking contract and said she wants to talk. She essentially explains why I have a right to humane house rules (thankyou?) Then spilled into why her group should be exempt fron or rules because they are professionals!!! People are starting to act just crazzzzyyy!
