I think my favorite RPs contain some level of crisis, with a character whose emotions build to a peak, and whose motivations can clash with the listener’s. This is why some of my favorite works are the “Finding a Ghoul” and “Kitsune Protects You... For the Last Time...” videos.

Yo this voice acting is actually incredible, this is like a quintessential husky, steel-spined mature knight voice. Like real professional-quality stuff. And it really lends a lot of depth to the whole thing because it conveys just with the voicing alone that this person is tough and experienced, which makes the openness and deep trust she's displaying feel very personal and special. Like it really gives the sense that she wouldn't talk like this to most people, which really sells the idea that she has a unique relationship and attitude towards the POV character. Not to mention the script quality, which meshes perfectly with that character. She's a real earnest charmer, isn't she? Great job, you've clearly been working hard!

This is a long comment, but I really, really like this audio RP. This is genuinely one of my favorite character story types, and this video really struck a chord with me. An inspirational knight who does not allow circumstances of their birth or a lack of natural aptitude at something sway them from achieving success at their dreams. I struggle with very similar feelings of feeling inadequate from a lack of “talent” or whatever in my pursuits, so this video really hit hard for me. It can feel bleak and hopeless to believe and be told you’re a failure for those sorts of reasons. You have no control over how you were born, whether it’s gender, certain conditions, disabilities, having or not having magical powers in a fantasy setting, etc., and being invalidated and told you’ll never achieve what you aim for because of reasons like that feels truly awful. Things like that makes one feel utterly hopeless and worthless. Perhaps I’m exaggerating, but listening to this audio RP felt really refreshing and gave a much needed surge of motivation. Many stories tend to have tropes in which the characters that actually succeed have some sort of “gift” or power they were born with or gained from circumstances out of their control. Other settings have entire power systems in which only certain people born with a magic gene or hybrids with some supernatural parent can do the cool magic things. Of course, not all characters have to have that sort of thing to be compelling and badass, but it often creates a divide in many settings that I find really unfortunate because of how common the tropes are. I have a special place in my heart for characters who lack any special gifts or talents that grant them some advantage and are considered to not be cut out for their goals, but achieve success through sheer willpower and hard work. This determined knight who was once weak and sickly worked to the bone to change that, and her efforts paid off and then some. So what if you were born a frail and sickly child? It doesn’t define you. You can still be a great knight and you should never throw away your dreams because of stuff like that. No special powers or magical bloodlines were there to deus ex machina this knight into a top tier powerhouse. Yet, despite how difficult the road ahead would be, she never gave up. She kept working hard, never wavered in her resolved and gained enough strength and prestige to guard the royal heir. What *did* she have? Simple. She had someone who believed in her. It’s amazing just how much of a drastic effect a little bit of encouragement can have. When someone believes in you, what originally felt like an immutable fact (“You will never be a successful artist. You’re starting too old/You have no talent/Not just anyone can be an artist.”) begins to break apart and what was impossible before is now suddenly achievable (“It’s never too late to start. All it takes is a bit of practice.”). I’m almost certainly putting too much thought into this, but I feel that the themes in this Audio RP are extremely important and it makes me very happy to see them in such a compelling little narrative. The romance aspect was genuinely heartwarming as well and I nearly teared up at the confession. This is truly one of the most potent waifus. Incredible work, Bethy. Keep it up. We believe in you. Edit: To answer the question more specifically and in a concise way, I do really enjoy RPs involving characters who achieve success through hard work rather than being gifted, or characters that overcome their lack thereof against all odds. For example a mage who has absolutely no innate magical potential and has to deal with being put down and discriminated against by their more magically gifted peers, but either tries to or succeeds in overcoming such roadblocks and becomes a powerful mage anyway. Innate power is for losers. True Chads achieve greatness through hard work, grit, and determination.

Really liked this audio. You did really well with the voice acting on it, if I do say so myself. Its crazy, after hearing the very end, it immediately made me think of another audio I heard of a King who finally passes on and meets his lost love knight in the afterlife as his guide, and they ended up together again, as they promised each other they always would. Since she didn’t return from war, even saying that the only thing that could ever keep her from returning to him was death itself. All I’m saying, is that it just sounded like the perfect future audio that nobody ever expected or even knew we would want. It was tragic, but romantic and a happy ending in the end. Idk why I felt the need to tell you about it, but I did.. 🤷‍♂️ Idk I guess I just thought it was cool how they coincidentally connected so well. Alright, I’m done now 🤦‍♂️
