I like the way you discern the questions asked , and the fact that you don't shy away from sensitive or moral issues. Love the program, God bless.

I catched the live at work and since I could not be there the entire time I tried asking it in the comments unsuccesfully just to find out now at home that it was the last one of your list. Anyway, thanks for all the great advice and I think I'll start focusing on producing belts, I've seen they are a very good item to be innovative and creative on designs and allows to stand out in that way, hopefully in time I'll be able to expand to backpacks which is what I'm more interested and have more ideas to create but belts being easier to make and sell will allow me to put myself out there more efficiently. Greetings from Colombia!!!

Is it possible to make a turned edge without bell skiver? I find it kinda hard to skive the amount needed to make a turned edge with just a skiving knife... Maybe i just need a better skiving knife :) What is the best type of skiving knife for you? Straight japanese style, or angled knife(like the one with finch logo that you have behind you).
@LeathercraftMasterclass3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. In the video course I created 'The Turned Edge Passport Wallet' I showcase the skiving process by hand. The more recent course on turned edge watch strap making (due for release today) also shows the technique. I think Japanese leather knives are not that great as a dedicated skiving knife. They were never specifically designed for skiving. Some people are good with it, but it's going to take longer to master due to the short blade and thick handle. Yes I prefer the angled skiving knife, the one you refer to was made by me to my ideal specs.

I am quite new to your channel and sat in on this "live" [at the time] Q&A and really enjoyed hearing all of the questions and answers up to a point. By about 8 or 9 minutes into the presentation, I began to notice very annoying interruptions in the video by some nonsensical advertising. I have to explain something to you. 1. I am viewing this through KZbin here in the US. 2. I am a higher level Senior, 77 years into my journey, and I have an "Old School" attitude about unrequested interruptions breaking into my attention to the materials presented. 3. I do not blame you or your channel one bit for these interruptions. I realize that, as everything we do becomes more and more popular, we have to find some way to promote and further our ideas and move our channels ahead as they grow. But it seems like the "modus operandi" recently is to interrupt the content and insert commercial blather into the video, which simply does little or nothing to contribute to the body of the presentation itself, other than to distract the viewer from focusing on the video. Point of my "blather" is, I lasted less than 20 minutes into your well done video and simply couldn't take another interruption so I clicked off of the video altogether. I am a subscriber and I enjoy what you have to tell your viewers, but I haven't owned a TV for over 14 years now for much the same reasons that I clicked off of YOUR presentation. For the TV, I have found that I can enjoy many of the same series and movies and other shows without the commercial interruptions by subscribing to either Netflix or Amazon Prime and I don't get any of the commercial interruptions that I had on TV. And the subscriptions which I have to pay for are far far less than had I continued with the TV. At my age, it isn't a priority for me to see the episodes of a series immediately on the same day they air on TV. Being retired, time is of a much lower importance to me than it was in the "old days". I will continue to watch your subject videos as long as they do not become overcome with this type of advertising, as I am into my 4th year of relearning to work leather and make items of beauty from a chunk of cowhide! [I spent much of my teens and early 20's doing leather work but priorities pushed that to the side of the path I was following at that time] But I am of an age now that, IF I were interested in any commercial subject which may happen to pop up unannounced while watching a video, I could simply Google it or do a search to find out more about it. I found that I can now focus with much more intensity than I did as a young man and my focus seems to be more toward learning leather work and the techniques required to become better at my trade at this point in time. One day you may think back on this old guy's thoughts and consider that, "Hey, he may have had something there!" Meanwhile, try to keep the "buttinski" commercials to a minimum and I will be learning more and more from your channel as time goes on ......

Thank you for your feedback. I would recommend asking someone to install an ad blocker on your browser for you, such as AdBlock by Google. It's free. Just like on TV, ads support the channel that you are watching free content from.
