Yeah. It was definitely intentional. I think that it only made her death more sad, and it only made it more unbearable. She didn't die suddenly. The life was "taken" or "drained" from her. I love this show so much. Even if it sends me into a sad place.

I think what hit me the hardest wasn’t just Kaori’s death, but the way it was portrayed. It was the most artistic, intense and beautiful way to portray death that I’ve ever seen in any form of fiction. I didn’t even like the anime that much (not that it was bad) but THAT SCENE was an absolute masterpiece. Death as a concept is so ominous and strange because we don’t know what happens, and that scene of the last duet, which I assume was sort of an in between as she was in the midst of leaving this world, was a stunning way to portray it. The way her soul or life force or whatever bursted through her chest making her appear like an exploding star as Arima’s haunting piano keys reached a beautiful climax, and then she faded away into nothing. We don’t know where she went, but it was a beautiful way to show the soul or whatever we are dying. even thinking about the artistry of that scene gives me chills. I truly hope that when we die we have some kind of ethereal experience as such.

He said 3 Episodes Key-Animated. That means, they only drew the most important frames (for example, every 20th frame or so, depending on how much motion is going on) There were still other people doing the frames inbetween. Ofcourse its still a huge amount of work just working on the keyframes.

I think the ending was for the best...like a lot of anime go to unrealistic lengths to keep characters alive. this one ended the best way because having kaori die made the feels more intense. plus it is one of those low-key times the childhood friend actually wins and makes the episodes involving his childhood friend actually hold weight in the end.

I watched this anime last summer because it was in my recommendation for about 3 years & I’ve watched the last episode of this anime 4 times in the past 2 day and idek why... but their last duet hits hard for me... I love music and hearing their musical conversation full all of their emotions and thoughts just makes me so sad because you can feel what they’re feeling without words and UGH I love this anime and tbh I didn’t even know how sad it was gonna be... I just knew it was about a girl who played violin and a guy who played piano but the fact that it was able to put me in their position of heartache, happiness, anger, etc. It just shows how powerful the music in this anime is especially all the emotions & conversations leading up to the last duet

Your Lie In April is my favorite anime ever, hands down. It’s so beautiful and tragic, yet so inspiring. The amount of symbolism is absolutely astounding. If you want to know what I mean, watch the “Whats in an OP: Your lie in April”, the guy covers everything really well. I also really love the ending. It was the first anime i’ve ever watched to make me genuinely cry. Also, i’m getting tired of the same “the hero wins every single time magically” endings. The death of the protagonist is something not many animes do, and this one did it perfectly. I have nothing but love for this series. Thank you for making this show a thing, and for showing me thats it’s okay to cherish life and have emotion. Edit: Also, it made me play piano and appreciate classical music lol

It's hard to let her go... She was like the brightest star and got dim over time like in ep. 18 almost then gray. But she will have a spot in my heart like how beautiful she was in ep. 2 playing violin. ❤️

Man this anime messed me up hard. My background is in classical music so I already loved it from that aspect. Then throw in the fake that Arima never got to tell Kaori how he felt. Having stopped dating someone whom I deeply loved, that fact hit hard. I've also lost loved ones to illness so that made it resonate even more. Then throw in the fact that I'm a bit of a sucker for mushy musical score and I'm now a total wreck thanks to this anime. Beautiful, stunning, and I want nothing more than for Arima and Tsubaki to end up together in the end. The love triangle was killing me.

I almost wish your lie in april had an extra episode where it showed a different path like Clannad did. But instead of showing if they never met and Kousei pursued someone else, Id have loved to see the operation go well. She probably would have still been wheel chair bound but I think the conversations they had in this extra episode would have been meaningful
