Super excited to finally get around to seeing Your Name in theaters. The worldwide sensation has finally arrived here is what I thought.

You mentioned 5cm per second and i thought of that as well when watching this one. Alot of Shinkai's movies has the same base. I liked the ending in this one, but personally i'v always liked the 5cm per second ending. It really makes that movie for me. It hits home and relates to reality in a way that not many animations do. A negative ending will always leave people unsatisfied and it's probably one of the reasons why many big movies, especially big animation projects tend to go the happy way. Even if such a negative ending might leave a bitter taste, i think that it leaves a bigger impression. Something that makes you think and something you have to work through before you can breath and move on to something else. Your name is a really nice movie, alot of it is better than 5cm per second, but i just don't see myself thinking about it in the future.
