The Afro is not on a pedestal because we haven’t put it on a pedestal. When we as black people decide something is in then that’s what it is. You notice in the 70s even white people were wearing afros.it’s happening slowly but surely
@healwithmare2 ай бұрын
I completely agree! Imagine if Black women decided to embrace their hair on a massive scale? Literally, it’s up to US. We set trends but a lot of us are fixated by wigs and under a literal spell. Things are getting better but the lace fronts are still ruling the streets 😬

People will say Miami has this different set of beauty standards, and maybe they do. But I went to Miami all natural and got so many compliments. By men and women. More than in my own city. When they say you have to have a certain complexion, a certain hair texture, a certain body type ,,,, I determined that was a lie lol. And I did believe the hype before I went.

I absolutely love your videos!!! I am Ethiopian and I live in the Midwest. My hair texture is very coarse & kinky and I’ve been rocking a mini fro for the past 2 months. These videos have been helping me fall in love with my Afro textured hair again especially when we are living in the land of lace fronts rn😂
@healwithmare2 ай бұрын
The land of lace fronts is a scary place 😂. I used to be part of that culture and I am not looking back! As an Ethiopian, do you find that your course & kinky texture is not embraced? I haven’t met an Ethiopian yet who doesn’t have a looser hair texture. I am so happy to hear you are rocking your mini fro with pride. As you should ❤❤❤
@sundaysareforreading2 ай бұрын
I feel like it’s very rare to have tight coarse hair as an Ethiopian (literally all my 30 + cousins have very loose textured hair). Even in the media when I used to live there all the women on TV had loose bouncy curls. It’s super weird like hellooooo we exist too 😂

Girl! I love being a Black woman too. I have truly been getting better with age. My skin is so supple and hair so shiny ✨.
