Even my parents look at me sideways when I wear my naturally shrunken afro and say, "Whatchu gonna do with that head?" 😑 I realized then how cooked the black community was... insulting YOUR own child about how they naturally are doesn't make sense to me. I understand that their generation is just like that, apparently, but being Christian and almost 65 years old, how haven't you learned a thing or two about how to be a decent person yet??

I’m binge watching your videos today..but I have been feeling like this..I love the decorations they are beautiful the lights, trees etc but I don’t care to be spending a ton on toys I end up throwing away soon as I step on one and hurt my foot lol.. I think me and my kids will start volunteering on Christmas instead
@healwithmare2 сағат бұрын
Thanks for engaging with my content! I like the decor too. That’s one thing I still do enjoy but this year I didn’t enjoy it as much as I typically do. The toys don’t hold my daughters attention for long AND I step on them. I completely understand what you mean! I love your idea about volunteering with your kids. I definitely plan on adding my daughter in to the volunteering when she’s older. She’s only 20 months so she’s not allowed to volunteer at the homeless shelter with me yet
@Mindful_ActionsСағат бұрын
@ yes my daughter is 9 my son is 3 so he can’t but my daughter and I will definitely be volunteering this year..I’ve been reading my Bible more and I believe that’s what God meant by “to much is given much is required” he wants us to give to serve and not our family and close friends but those we don’t know those that have less than we have

There are people who are Asian or white (majority straight hair) that try to replicate Afro hair. It’s just not as popular as wearing straight hair (they probably bored with the same ol). However I do agree we need to accept our hair… we can start by learning how to properly take care of our own hair without using other people hair or that Kankelon hair that is an endocrine disruptors (mess up your hormones).
@healwithmare2 сағат бұрын
Hey Jadyn! I lived in South Korea for almost two years, traveled to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Bali, Indonesia (there are tons of videos here on my channel of me in Asia) and I NEVER saw those Asians who wear Afro hair. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist. It means they aren’t a majority or even a minority. I’m guessing it’s a very tiny subculture because I’ve never seen it in the flesh. I’ve also traveled to a lot of European countries and never saw a white person with Afro hair (I have plenty videos of me in Europe here on my channel). I’ve been to 26 countries total so far, so I am extremely well traveled. I’m still here in Accra, Ghana and I see Asian and Eurocentric wigs everywhere on African women. YIKES. Just had to say that..WE have the problem with our hair. That’s our burden that we carry and have to deal with. The first thing I personally had to do wasn’t to learn my hair. The first thing I did when I started this journey was to believe what God said about me being fearfully and wonderfully made. I still don’t completely understand my hair yet. But I look forward to spending time with my hair each day because my mindset has shifted. It’s a beautiful thing 🥰
@JadynGСағат бұрын
@healwithmare I understand your point of view. In my original comment, I can agree on majority of what you said. However, understanding how to do your own hair is important when on this journey for acceptance in my opinion. As someone who has gone on a journey to accepting their own hair. It definitely starts with God ALWAYS. Then, secondly siting to understand our own hair ourselves. We put faith in other people on what’s best for our hair without spending time to know our own hair best. Learning one’s temple that God has graced us with is a beautiful thing. As someone who’s taken a walk with God on self acceptance, I’ve come to realize that it’s important to become a master of oneself in multiple facets. I pray for you to continue your journey and self discovery especially with your hair💜

I started feeling this same way even about flat ironing my hair. I wont say i NEVER do it...but it literally used to be my "look" straight hair...my mother is Colombian and my father is black and i have very curly hair naturally and for so long i struggled with a sense of identity. Once i started my walk with the lord, i started feeling like those j.cole lyrics started coming to life when he said "no need to fix what God already put his paint brush on"...its like a slap in the face to alter your look, as if our eye or standard for beauty is better than the creators. 🎉 i love this, i love your content. ❤

Thank goodness everyone os entitled to their opinion. I don't promote anything when I decide to do whatever on my head. What others think is not my thoughts or intentions. They are free to project all they want. I love my natural hair and rock it often. I love wearing turbans and rock it often. I love wearing extension braids and rock it. I love wearing curly bundles and rock it. I like doing whatever to my hair without worry of color or heat damage. I don't like straightening (chemical or the device straighners) or coloring my hair, hence the use colored extension and bundles. If others think that's promoting people's hair texture, so be it 😅. Everyone likes to talk about hair. How about our fashion style? Most wear european styles, ones that weree started during colonial times. Some wear their traditional outfits but the majority of people only wear them in the country of origin. Examples are India, Middle East, and some Black majority African countries. Anyway, enjoy styling your hair how you want without worry of others' options

I will never forget i was in a popular shopping area on the boarder of a Black and Hispanic neighborhoods. All the black women wearing 30inch buss downs with the caterpillar lashes, im the only one that day with my puff picked to the heavens above. Big, full, luscious. I felt beautiful that day. I walked into a supermarket and the Hispanic cashier coudlnt stop staring at my hair. (I had sunglasses on), her entire body language looked so uncomfortable and started to caress her straight hair over and over, while almost forgetting to scan my items. It occurred to me that she was probably so use to black women wearing her beauty on her head, that when seeing one who didnt glorify her beauty, it made her uncomfortable. Imagine having black women, daily, for weeks, months, years, decades, spending billions to look like you, giving you an ego boost out of this world and you ran into one who didnt. Who found her own beauty worth celebrating. I didnt give her that ego boost and it made me smile cause I will never wear another race's texture to covery the glorious crown I've veen blessed to have by God Himself!

Girl this comment had me smiling ear to ear! They don’t know how to respond to our confidence and natural God-given beauty. The minute we finally realize how gorgeous our hair is, the minute they start to question their own beauty. It’s pretty sad. At the end of the day we are all God’s beautiful children. I truly love being comfortable in my own skin. No one can take away the confidence that God has blessed me with. 🙏🏾🥰

One thing you have to understand is that Africa is like 50 years behind the U.S. in terms of decolonizing your mind and embracing natural hair. All of that "black is beautiful" culture came from African-Americans. Don't go to Africa expecting to see "motherland" love. It's even more regressive, with the exception of extremely remote villages that have retained all of their pre-colonial customs.
@healwithmare2 күн бұрын
Actually, there are definitely women here rocking their natural hair with pride. No matter the historical context, we have to bring up the absurdity of it all. There is no way Black women on the motherland should be desiring hair that isn’t there’s. Period!
