Props to Radiomaster - they are really paying attention to the market and continue to release kick-ass products. I'm still going to use my TX16S though. There's nothing wrong with it and I just gave it a Gemini module, no reason to change. I've grown out of always having to have the latest everything.

This gimball design with one magnet for both axes you also find on the FlySky hall gimballs. I have used the EL18 in all wether conditions from -15°C (5F) up to 35°C (95F) with no calibration issues. The difference is that the FlySky gimballs have a small curcuit board with the sensor on the back of each gimball. The really big news on the GX12 for Radiomaster is that the gimballs are digital, like the FlySky, but the refresh rate of the gimballs is synced to the ELRS refresh rate, all the way up to 1000Hz! That might be why they needed to be integrated in the main circuit board. Put the GX12 in the freezer and check the calibration after half an hour. Place it in the sun and test again. If the calibration is still ok we have a good design here.

SA on the Boxer: 2 position SA on the GX12: momentary. Why do they switch the way the switches switch with every new model? Copying models between controllers and needing to set up the switches again.

Another great review that’s definitely an interesting radio. I have the boxer Max, which I love. I’m gonna stick with that for now, but definitely keeping my eye open on Gemini and maybe towards the future that will be something I will head towards.

Awww man, I wasn't going to watch this, cause I'm really happy with my TX16S. But as this video shows, the GX12 addresses the few complaints I had about the TX16S. I'e always hated the soft detent on the side slider, which I use for flaps. Glad to see that addressed. Smaller form factor was also a plus. The all 3 position switch thing, is a drawback for me. I use a 2 position for both arm for drones, and SAFE on airplanes. Having to order parts, and open it up is not a plus. But you had me going, until the gimbal issue, if it even is an issue. I could probably never tell, but after installing those AO1's, I feel obligated to use them.Lol If they had the multi-protocol in there, I would order today. You make a compelling argument for the radio, especially with that price. Maybe switch all my drones to the GX12, and keep airplanes on TX16S.:-) PS: my wife doesn't like your channel, cause she says I spend too much because of you. Lol

Hi, The gimbals are pretty much the same as the Pyrodrone CNC with TBS Tango and I think it's the same in the new installment. I think it's a brilliant solution, personally I don't have to correct the calibration in tbs tango (my favorite radio+cnc), even though I carry it in my backpack on my bike summer/winter. The only problem is the first calibration, you have to do it very slowly, sometimes several times :)

For info, this new gimbals seems very closed to flysky 3d hall effect ones. I have them on my tx16s since more than 4 years (at a time RM made version 1 of their hall effet gimbals with poor thermal drift), never got any issues, calibration still rock solid. For me these gimbals are perhaps the best on the market, with perfect linearity, 12 bits resolution, fast refresh rates, and fully wear free because only the magnet is moving, not even 1 wire is moving unless other hall effect vertical axis.

My CNC gimbals for my mamba and my TBS tango to our folding and they work absolutely flawless. I actually like the out of the box tension and feeling and daily flying of the pydrone CNC gimbals over the preferred by most CNC radio master gimbals I own three boxes plus a Tx 16 with them in them and they're great but there's just something about the Pyrodrone CNC gimbals they just feel really good and the fact that they fold is just a bonus. But anyways this is looking like a good radio from RadioMaster and like you I'm all in on the boxer so I don't know about switching plus I own two of the Nomad modules so I'm good with the crossband Gemini system that's actually what I am upgrading to Great video as always.

doesn't look like you can easily set the left stick to spring back to center like you can on the boxer. handy feature if your into RC cars and you prefer sticks over a wheel.

Im in the market to jump from my Tanaris x9D+, gotta wait a little over here: Currently, the RadioMaster GX12 transmitter does not yet have CE certification. As a result, import and use of the GX12 within the EU are presently prohibited. Once CE certification is obtained, we will promptly begin stocking the RadioMaster GX12.

I wish I would learn just a few days earlier or weeks about GX12 from RM or via rumors. I was considering an upgrade from RM Pocket as well as getting into Gemini for LR and Jumper T20 V2 (which seems RM answered with GX12 on this model) seemed like best option. But their gemini model is 500/500mw max, so I went for RM Nomad and Jumper T20 V2 2.4Ghz 1w version and got mini bay adapter mounted relatively janky 3d print with 6 screws on back since the V2 sold in Europe in most shops seems to be one with the fan not with heatsink as most reviews show. Luckily the radio without Nomad still just fits into the provided case and I can carry nomad in another case if'll need to fly Gemini, which is also luckily only want, not need in most cases. With GX12 I wouldn't have to worry, all in one and with nice form factor + customizable shoulders. Now I'll wait few years for RM to release yet something even better and Jumper will stay as backup/trainer radio then.

On my boxer i printed 8mm spacers that go btween the faceplate and gimbal body to lower the gimbals into the radio so i could extend my sticks for better resolution but the stick end is super low as far as portrusion def a good mod to do

I just have to say. If you are a beginner and using a mode 2 radio. It makes absolutely no sense to put your arm switch on the left side of the controller. Put it on the right side so it doesn't interfere with your throttle stick while your trying to land. One hand to arm/disarm. One hand to control the throttle makes sense

Ahh, now I'm torn between this and the Boxer Crush. 🤯 But they've both got way too many switches and knobs and buttons, far more than I'd need for simple freestyle and cimemaitc, just seems like a waste to me. A cool radio which is made for fpv drones without all the unnecessary (to me) controls. Ps.... I know it'll never happen and I'll just buy this and never use half of it. 😂

Could you give a push in the right direction for flying FPV from within a car. What kind of SMA extension cables makes a difference, do I need it for both the VRX and radio? 5m Cinesium banggood SMA extensions vs. other options :)

I've got a TX16, for which I use an ELRS module. I want something more compact, while capable. I'm currently a bit torn. The Jumper Bumblebee is small and compact, and seems really nice. But the GX12 has so much capability. When I try to find comparisons, those who have used both will go "very different use cases", without any real detail... which doesn't really help me much. I would love to see some detail on that. I like drones, of course, but also the occasional powered glider and similar, which makes me think that perhaps the GX12 is more fitting... but I also want something really portable, and I can always use the TX16 for winged stuff. Though switching all over to a real daily driver would be nice... A long winded way of asking for some help on how to choose between the Bumblebee and GX12. :)

Take a look at the Radiomaster Pocket and also the Pocket Crush (with the micro ag01 gimbals). They are very compact, portable (switches and gimbals are made to not break when transporting in a backpack) and they feel good in the hands (at least for me).

Are the 6 buttons (1,2,3,4,5,6) independent inputs (so that edgetx allows them to be something other than a 6-position switch), or is the same limited 6-position switch internally that radiomaster used on their other radios (ie: the boxer)? I like being able to reconfigure the custom buttons to have independent actions as I don't have a good use case for a 6-position switch but having 6 toggle switches (or a combo of 3 toggles and a 3 position switch, etc) very useful. I've been using the trim buttons for this purpose on the boxer.

As I use the top left latching button to arm with the Tango2 and Boxer this new button layout makes this radio a no go for me. Jumper makes this an option on the T14 so it fits all.

AndrRC said it chews the battery pretty quick on default setting of 250/350mw. So if you are running the dual band on max 1 watt each. (2w) it doesn’t have an external xt30 like the nomad module. Could the USB port to power on the longer flights be a bottleneck?

You'd need some special function magic to make it work because turtle switch position would need to send turtle switch then after a small delay the arm switch.

@@sixtofive Nope, with a setup like that if you're slow on the switch (and ELRS could go up to 1000Hz) you're getting turtle mode instead of arming and other unintended effects. Try to make it work and you'll see why it's not simple.

I wonder what the controls.look like in a UAP craft. I would imagine such an advanced technology would be able to control energy and all different types of energy in a similar way , remotely. A craft that can travel from.space to our atmosphere and into the ocean . One pilot described dark cubes inside of clear spheres. Maybe if we can get the new Radiomaster with a quantum computer we would be able to move faster but seriously at speeds of 13000 mph in the lower atmosphere without generating heat or sonics it's almost like they have a force field or something. To fly into the water at speed without being destroyed they must . Would take a quantum computer to control something like that ?

The he reason why TBS radio out the box has gimbal problems is just because they are plastic. If you want to have zero problems with gimbal S on TBS tango or Mambo - the solution is quite simple, change stock plastic gimbals on CNC gimbals from Pyrodrone - done!
