Excellent review! You are so right about people getting weird about who makes the pedal or about it being a "clone"

Thanks man 🙏 Yeah, it's a definite 'thing' isn't it. Judging stuff on where it's made has always been in the guitar world, but it hasn't stayed there. Amps and pedals are also subject to this thing too. Thanks for watching. Really appreciate it. 🙏

Killer playing Mark, your demos are great. I love messing around with fuzz circuits. Lots of fun with these old circuits. I recently built a TB Mk1.5/Mk2 in one enclosure. You can make the 1st transistor slightly gated and get cool early rock tones.

Very Cool, Thankyou. Awesome Demo/Review, Interesting, Informative, Entertaining, Amazing playing and a Gretsch to look at on the wall. Awesome. All the Best. Cheers (Oh, and I am really hopeful of a Behringer 'new'..."Old" Delay/Echo in this 'series' of 're-releases'.) Big Behringer fan with 'dedicated' Behringer only pedal board consistring of 12 Behringer pedals, lol. It Rocks. I missed The Behringer Echo Machine, and struggle with the Behringer Vintage/Overdrive, so a 'new/old' Echo Machine would be awesome.

Thanks very much man 🙏 I really appreciate you watching and getting in touch. Aye, the Gretsch is lovely and I'm gonna do a demo of that in a video soon. Gorgeous guitar in Georgia Green 😍. A vintage style delay from Behringer would be something I could see them doing 🤔 Especially after this current range of pedals. I use an Xvive Memory which I will demo soon. Now that is as good a vintage analogue pedal you'll hear. It's even designed by the memory man designer. Thanks again🙏

BTW: finding a tonebender doesn't have to mean vintage, there are a few people who still make the original circuit with old style transistors. There are also a lot of newer pedals that have taken the basic circuit and converted to silicon transistors. EQD Black Ash, Skreddy Rover etc.

Great video! I really like fuzz! I just got a TC Electronics Rusty Fuzz which is awesome! It is a copy of a Behringer Ultra Fuzz which is a copy of the Boss FZ-3 Fuzz, which is a copy of a Fuzz Face with an EHX Big Muff Pi tone circuit added and a buffer. I like Behringer pedals, especially since Digitech was sold and shrunk it's pedal line to almost zilch. They feel like they are made of ABS plastic, which is a pretty durable plastic for a pure plastic. They are fine for hobby/bedroom players. If they were on a pedalboard, which I did hear that some professional players used them, they would be ok if the pedalboard had a good case to hold everything in. I liked Digitech pedals because they were clones of the Boss pedals, and this is when Boss was the industry standard if not boutique, when they were the pedal you wanted to have, and you could rely on them. So Digitech cost about %50-%75 of what a Boss pedal costs, and they would usually mod the pedals a little, incorporating popular mods. But that is no more, so Tone City, TC Electronic, and Beringer along with a bunch of other brands have started offering Boss circuits and others
@markodonnellguitar4 күн бұрын
I love how everything is a copy of a copy of copy🤣🤣. You know, I kinda missed the whole Digitech thing in the 90s. I had friends with them and saw them in stores (UK) but haven't seen them for ages. You said they reduced their line 😔. I might hunt some down online. They did a good chorus I believe 🤔. Plastic pedals were used in the Ibanez soundtank range in the 90s and they were good. I still have one but the switching is hit and miss. Thanks for watching man and I like your comments 🙏

Nice playing and demo. Great you didn't just show the everything on 10 approach that other reviews follow. For what it's worth i would think the switch would toggle between mk1.5 (fuzz face) and mk2 types a s this is easy to achieve with those circuits. I don't get why it sounds like a cocked wha though, they're done something weird there.
@markodonnellguitarКүн бұрын
Hey man. Yeah, I think you are right between the 2 modes - thanks. I knew someone would know ✌️ On the mod switch it does go very clocked wah on full attack 🤔. But when backed off sounds lovely. I've actually been using that a bit....after saying in the video I wouldn't use it much. Thanks for watching man and the info on the switch settings. Much appreciated 🙏🙏✌️

Remember when you were a kid and you went to the market with your dad to get cereal- and you're looking at all the cool cartoon characters and chocolate waffer crisps or what the he11 ever- and he's like "Ah, good ole cornflakes, that's all you need." This guy is playing a box of cornflakes. Now that said, cornflakes taste pretty damned good, they're just kind of boring if that's all you eat, every day, forever. I'm 53, I grew up playing a tube amp and a fuzz pedal- its great- but there's a whole world of stuff that's just as great out there. And tbh if I hear another person talk about how something is transparent or organic, nothing but catch phrase b.s. I've been playing for over 30 years, if you told someone 15 years ago you wanted a transparent drive they would've been like "We just make it in black, that's the only color we have." Besides "transparent" is great, if you're playing by yourself- if you're playing in a band, no one is going to hear you unless it's a 3 piece. That said- maybe cuting through isn;t always the most important thing- Tim Pierce says when he had t lay down a part on whatever huge 80s hit he was working on at the time- he listened for the frequencies that weren't being utilized by the other musicians, and he purposely set his guitar in the mix within that frequency band. This filled out the song, made it sound fuller, bigger- but it also meant his part really meshed with everything else going on and became a crucial part of the song's makeup. Smart man.
@markodonnellguitar4 күн бұрын
Wise words man. I hear you on the whole transparent boost thing. Never really done it for me. I sense I am like you, give me a nice tube amp, a guitar I like and perhaps a pedal that can add to my amp for some fuzz sauce or whatever. I really do believe that most pedal boards could be greatly reduced and we only need one drive pedal. That's definitely how I run things anyway. I am also with you on the older days...had I been given a fuzz and a tube amp only when I was starting out, I'd have been confused 🤣. Now it's all I want. Tim Pierce is a great player and very experienced. I'm a big fan of his knowledge. Thanks for listening man 🙏🙏

Classic setting is level and attack both all the way up into a fairly dirty tube amp :) So many ppl don't understand their own volume knobs 😂 ... neck pickup with volume down to 2 or 3 is a great clean tone. Great review. At the price, could be the steal of the year. This's a mk1.5, which is basically a Fuzz Face. Great fuzz ... the 'mod' mode can't make it a mkii, because that would require a third transistor .... The sought-after TB build -- the one Page and Beck made famous -- is the mkii.
@markodonnellguitar23 сағат бұрын
AHH, now how did you know I was after that Page and Beck tone 🤣🤣. Thanks for the info 🙏 I found when I wound the level all the way it went on fire 🤣 even with my volume down, I'll try again. I agree on the dirty amp, it sounded terrible into a clean amp. Interestingly, I tried it with an amp modelling unit and it was also awful, well not awful, but not as sweet as in a tube. I think I may have developed a little liking for these tone benders so your knowledge is very good in my pursuit of that tone 🙏✌️ Thanks for watching and getting in touch. Much appreciated man 🙏🙏
