Price will drop fast on this. Went from $120k last year to $60k this year. I suspect $30k, the $20k, then $10k, then $5k, then $3k, $2k, $1500, then $1000. Basically in 8 years, I’ll buy one!

The bigger brakes are the companies behind...Due to Their massive investment in billion $ factories for big panels, their investments must be profitable first... If no one gets ahead of them, they will take their time unless customers refuse to buy their current ranges. This technology is expected to be cheaper to produce, so it's just the future, which they reject far away

Can you zoom the image up and down for regular or widescreen to get any aspect ratio you want with constant height?
@JilesMcCoy
@JilesMcCoy Ай бұрын
You can scale for sure. Not sure it will alter aspect ratio though.
@geickmei
@geickmei Ай бұрын
@@JilesMcCoy How could it not? Aspect ratio is contained in the format. So if a widescreen movie comes on you want the screen to get bigger, not smaller - at the same height. Easily done with my projector.
@JilesMcCoy
@JilesMcCoy Ай бұрын
@@geickmei How could it not change the aspect ratio of incoming content? What are you wanting to do, non linear stretch maybe? Usually you use a madVR to do that kind of video processing.
@geickmei
@geickmei Ай бұрын
@@JilesMcCoy This is getting silly. First you tell me that you are not sure it will alter the aspect ratio, then you say you are not sure how it could NOT alter it. Let's start over. When I am projecting a 16:9 normal screen it has a certain height and width. When a widescreen movie comes on I can use the motorized lens to zoom it up to fill the screen again at the same height, but wider. Can a video wall do that as well?
@JilesMcCoy
@JilesMcCoy Ай бұрын
@@geickmei A video wall does not have a lens. Its not a projector. You can use the LED wall processor to scale an image larger or smaller, but Im not sure if it will be able to alter the aspect ratio if you are seeking to do that. Changing the aspect ratio (converting 16:9 to 2.4:1 for example) and the "size" of a fixed aspect ratio in the confines of the screen are 2 different things. Ultimately, if you are asking if there is a solution where you can have a scope aspect screen (21:9 ish in LED wall world) without big black bars on the top or bottom, yes, you can do that. But its not the same methodology of zooming in a projector so you have massive overscan on the top and bottom.

Theatre is a dark room when lights are off. So In complete dark room LED light emitted from LED walls will damage eyes after repeated viewing...in future.. While silver screens will absorb and then reflect a portion of absorbed light that is safe for eyes in a dark room.

That's a valid point. I have no doubt that this display technology is the future especially for bright environments. But how does it hold up for movie watching in a light-controlled/dark room? Is a reflective as opposed to an emissive display technology not better able to capture the magic of the silver screen? People tend to rave about Oleds as providing the best image quality at an affordable price but to me it still very much feels likes watching a TV.

It's a true upgrade to great contrast and no-compromises. Projection will always exist - at a entry price-point and a portable solution for a "big image". But this is for sure the future
