Speaking as a member organizer for my union, this "degrading of the American Public Sphere" that has been happening since well before this AI nonsense, at least from personal experience, has made it all the more difficult to communicate via email, phone, and mail for things like union comminications and organizing... Hard to get people to pay attention to emails and phone calls when I have to compete with that bullcrap.

There was a dystopian book I read as a kid where the main characters had massive class sizes of like one teacher to a hundred but all received personalized learning from their tablets. And I thought that other than the government censoring what was learned, this was actually an improvement to real life, as then people could learn at their own pace in the way that is best for them. Of course, these pros and cons are only worth considering when the technology actually works, which it won't in real life. I never actually considered the social element of learning until you brought it up, probably because my sensory issues mean that other kids talking in the background is both psychically damaging and hurts my ability to learn. (Also when I read that book, I had only just started to not be able to easily run intellectual circles around every one of my peers. You don't get a good opinion of group projects when you end up either being drafted into teaching or doing the entire project yourself way faster than anyone else.)
