You can't really say that it "can't" be figured out. He literally could have just figured out the perturbations and plugged in the numbers and made up a solution. We do it all the time. That's why we thought there must've been an additional planet in between Venus and Mercury until we had physics that could better explain the movements of the planets. It's also how we used those then improved physics to discover new planets like Uranus. When Thales of Miletus predicted the first eclipse, he likely used a model no one had ever thought of. He could have claimed to be an agent of god or a spiritual being or a god himself because he had knowledge which was "impossible to obtain" when in reality he just had more insights than others. The same could be going on here. A person could be a genius, figured out something that some physicists couldn't, then used his knowledge to claim he was something extraordinary. Just apply Occum's razor

The only problem is that if he can travel close to or at light speed time wouldn't pass for HIM, but it would for EVERYONE else. The faster you go the slower time passes for you, but that doesn't mean time passes slower for everyone else. It would probably take him a couple million years at light speed to travel to another system and back. For example if he travels 4 million light years away it will take him 8 million years round trip (4 million years one way and 4 million years back). To him it would appear to happen near instantly but everyone else would have died millions of years ago.

@@tristiana1890right but what you’re missing is that they literally aren’t close to each other. It’s very common for the furthest star in a constellation to be 10x further away than the closest. As in, Earth is closer to the closest part of the constellation than the constellation is to itself. You can argue that they are talking in reference to the projection, but given how bad the physics is in this short (for example, light waves are not that high energy at all, unless you start using harmful radiation - not a good idea to use in close proximity to people - but an LED can look pretty bright with like 10 watts (which is really not a lot) and by bright I mean it would be uncomfortably bright for a room light) I don’t think they particularly cared for accuracy and likely just said whatever sounded cool

@FastSickleАй бұрын
I assumed he just made a trip around the planet? Which at light speed should take... uhh lemme do some napkin math's here: the distance from the Sun to Earth, on average, measured in "Earths" is just under 12000 Earth's. We know it takes about 8 minutes for light to travel from the sun to the earth soo 12000/8=0.000667, multiply that by 60 to get the seconds and we see that light travels an Earth's distance in 0.04 seconds. Multiply it by PI for an even rougher estimate of 0.125 seconds for light to travel all the way around the Earth, so if he was in fact just going around the earth, we wouldn't see him move, hed be back long before our brains could recognize he moved

Not quite the right comparison. It would more like asking someone on Earth the exact orbital path of Earth around the sun. Most Earthlings will know how the Earth spins on its axis and revolves around the sun and how long it takes to do so. Most *wouldn't* be able to freehand that parabolic arc *to scale* on a schematic. Yiou ask that question in a room of astrophysicists, then you'd get a "it's common knowledge" response.

I think he had the consciousness of an alien, you also see in the movie how his wife and daughter were murdered, at first I thought he was just crazy but then this scene there's no way he could have known that information even the scientists didn't know, but an alien who is from that system would know! Now obviously at the end of the movie they find him catatonic, right when he said he was going to go back to K-PAX, all of this would make sense if the consciousness was traveling at the speed of thought or the speed of light, and at the end of the movie The consciousness leaves him... Also another odd thing, which having the consciousness of an alien wouldn't explain this fact but when they examined him at the hospital they realized he could see in ultraviolet, humans can't see ultraviolet. Even if his body was possessed by an alien consciousness that wouldn't change the biology of his eyes, that part's always been a bit confusing he's obviously human, he was born he grew up he got married he had a kid, they know who his father was they know who he was. And then when he's hypnotized he reverts back to his other self which has a completely different voice a different way of talking different mannerisms

@@Israel-ng4ve He was never found guilty, but he admitted guilt and apologized. He hit on a 15 year old when he was 27. No sexual abuse, but a sexual 'advance'.

@@gmork1090 He admitted guilt and apologized for one singular incident that as you said, never amounted to anything beyond an advance. And you could say he did it to put a lit on it before it got blown out of proportion, which happened anyway unfortunately, because the Public is a bit too dense to know the phrase "innocent until proven guilty." Well unless their favorite businessman gets charged for his Crimes, with actual evidence being presented, then it's suddenly a deep state conspiracy.

I get the complaints about the inaccuracy in this scene but this film is not an action movie. Its primary focus is not on the actual combat but rather what is happening in general.

Preposterous. Light takes approximately 2 seconds to travel to the moon and back. It takes approximately 8 minutes to travel to the sun. If he really did go back to his home planet and back, his absence would be noticeable. Ipso expelliaranus - he is lying. (Have never seen this movie but it did catch my eye so imma look into it. Don’t know if he’s faking or not)

Amplified Light is faster, but maybe amplified is the wrong word for speed-augmented light. Even Earth's lasers in the 2000's *far* surpassed the speed of Star or Common Light.(the light used for "light-speed")

Who said he travelled all the way back home? He just said a demonstration, don’t think you’d fly all the way back home to do that - imagine someone said “can you give us a demonstration of how your bicycle works?” You’d just hop on and ride it back and forth for a few seconds, not hop on and bike all the way back home and back.
