No HDMI due to a number of reasons: size of a standard HDMI port, lack of power pass-through, cost. USB-C provides flexible connectivity as you described across multiple devices. Great review of the C14!

Not to mention that HDMI was designed for TVs so doesn't 'really' have a place in computing. DisplayPort is where it's at for dedicated display, um, ports.

Great AMA and live demo with other devices! “ilovedell” 😂. Not the designer, but HDMI port will take up space and requires plumbing internally. With DP over Type C we also have power pass through! #iwork4dell

Great device. You also didn’t mention one thing that you can’t see on the camera but the weight is crazy light. I think the sleeve is probably the weight of the actual monitor

Hello and thank you for your video. How many of these can you connect? Can you connect four of these to your laptop so you basically have a multi screen studio on the go? If not directly, may be via some type of adaptor? Assuming laptop is plugged in and gets all the power it needs.

You can daisy chain them one into the other! I haven’t been able to try with four but I don’t see why not!

Hi There Thank you for this video. I got one recently, it was the last piece at the store which was used as a sample. unfortunately i did not get the usb type c with it and when i try using my type c cables at home, it wouldn't work. please advise. Am i required to use a particular type c cable? Thank you advance

Hello there! That is great , yes you can’t just use any type of usb type C , you need to have a cable that is specifically designed to support video transmission such as USB-C cable with DisplayPort Alt mode or thunderbolt 3! I hope this helps

Hey just an update for the iPad portion of this video… IPadOS has added external monitor - EXTENDED display support with the use of Stage Manager. That makes this portable monitor even cooler!

Thanks for your comment. If you do not have a type-C, video could pass using an adapter if your type A supports video starting with USB3.0. You also need the right dongle. I haven’t tested, but an adapter like this one could work amzn.to/3U9X465. If you test, please let me know the results so others can benefit from it. Thanks again!

It seems from Dell support page that you model have 3 type A 3.0 so you should be fined. Still test as this ain’t a guaranteed success. It looks like they don't sell the C1422H anymore. But they relabeled it as a P1424H. Do you think it's the same exact thing? B&H still has the C1422H for much cheaper than the P1424H. ooh why can't give it a regular name lol

Yes! This one went end of life but it looks to be exactly the same they just rebranded it and now it works with Dell Display Manager!

Thanks for explaining your setup! Yes, for your desktop, you can power it via power adapter and connect it using a display port to USB C. For the laptop, simply use its power. This way, it should be handy for use with both systems.@@Vivianite02
