What I'm curious about is aircraft like the MiG-29, when I test-fly it I get RWR pings on my HUD that don't show up on the in-cockpit SPO-15, why?

Spo-15 has ability to detect if radar ping comes from above or below. It will tell you ping and show you on rwr top or bottom. It can't identify direction so it doesn't show it.
