This is a heartwarming conclusion to the series. I felt for emmy with her situation with her family and teared up when she confessed her feelings for the lister. Great job as usual Bethy. Also the beging part with Beth talking in a froggy style saying if were happy was also cute.

See I'm a black man with a black family (23 years old) and I'm definitely the first in the family to be emo/goth, who loves and prefers rock, heavy metal, synth wave, and such over rap. My family wasn't really against it( it's just my parents who makes a big deal out of it) and honestly thought I was pretty cool with how I went about it and even admired some of the things I wear. But this definitely put a damper between me and my mom and dad. I think I can relate to Emmy really. And honestly my parents tried to convince me that I would receive alot of prejudice from society, especially being around them with the rest of the family and in public. But the truth is, I actually win alot of people over being myself. It comes as a shock at first for a lot of people and they kinda stare at me for the longest, but then they walk up to me and start talking to me and try to get to know me, and my best relationships actually come from friends and strangers aside from my family. And I'm really grateful for it. Edit: Thank you guys so much for the love and support in the comments. I'm about to be 26 this July, and I'm doing very well for myself and have even push past almost all of my problems and traumas. I honestly wasn't expecting this comment to reach out to so many people, but I'm glad I can make it as far as I have. My relationship with my family and parents is so much better now😊

This story hits me right in the feels. At least the beginning did. I actually had a friend who got rejected by her family based on one of her choices in life. They are highly religious and she announced that she was an atheist so her parents kicked her out the next day. I let her stay at my place for about half a year and I actually started to like her a lot, but regretfully never told her. One day I came home from work and she and her stuff was just gone. All that was left was a note saying she got into a relationship and had moved in with the guy. Even if she wrote it in her note she never said thank you or anything to me face to face after that, which kinda hurt me a lot. Its been just over 2 years since she left and I haven't heard from her since. I have tried to convince myself that I may have dodged a speeding bullet, but in all honesty it actually still hurts whenever I think of it. Not gonne lie, I feel used

When the video ended for some reason the first scenario my mind invented was that the story continued as a tragedy, that the two of them were passionately and sincerely in love as a couple until she died in some sort of extenuating circumstances. Leaving years of work into relationship baring little fruit apart from sad memories and the haunting feeling of a deep hole gouged into the heart of the friend that worked so hard to be there for her. I think the emotion sort of scared me, it feels as if such extreme feelings must lead to extreme endings. All in all, wonderful video, it was captivating the whole way through.

My lifestyle and preferences (especially in activities) very much pissed off my Sindi father. What's in this script applies to the dynamic between my father and I. I am not a person made in his vision - I am a person made in my own vision. This ended what was a tight and excellent relationship. Now that I've stood up for myself, he doesn't talk to me. Dad, I'm into buses, working with my hands, and sentimental/twee yet noisy music, AND I LIKE BOTH THE SMITHS AND THE CURE AT THE SAME TIME, if only you accepted that and stopped forcing your faith and way of life on me and my siblings, you'd probably still be married to my mom and have your children not hate you for growing up.
@sixeyedsamurai264710 ай бұрын
I remember when I first came out as Bi-Curious when I called another person handsome that was the same sex as me. Instead of being supportive or accepting, my mother called me the q-word. I then got self-conscious and started closing myself off, I even considered moving away at such a young age (I was 6th grade). Luckily my brothers and sister accepted me and called my mom out on her bias bs, since my mom accepted my sister when she came out as Pansexual. I remember how they called her out on other stuff too and it felt wonderful that I had siblings who've always been on my side. Then she kicked me out a month before my 18th birthday and still tries to paint herself as a saint, but honestly who cares what she is anymore, I've survived no thanks to her. Sorry , I just kind of went off on a rant about a pointless story. The asmr just made me a bit mkre open than usual.

It makes me sick to think this kind of stuff actually happens in real life, people are treating their own children like wild animals just because they dye their hair, paint their nails a dark color, get piercings, etc. I’ve weirdly been the person “goth” kids go to to talk about their problems, and it feels nice to be the person they feel comfortable talking about it to. And even when listening to them I thought the same thing, the parents of those teens treated them so poorly just for being a little different. Anyway, nice audio.

It's sad that the worst things always seem to happen to the best people, and that often those who suffer do so in silence. It's even sadder when such terrible things come from the people who are supposed to love and support you the most, especially if they do so just because that person just wants to be themselves. The sheer unbridled happiness in Emmy's voice when she discovers the Listeners returns hers feelings towards them and is willing to help and support them is palpable. And she's right, there's a reason why the term 'found family' exists. And it's very important in a romantic relationship that you support and care for each other. Emmy may be fictional but I can only hope the rest of her story is as happy as the end of this one.

Fun fact: the complete saying is “the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”. So blood is thicker than water actually means that those you choose to be family are your real family, and are “thicker” than your relatives.

If that’s the case then the saying is BS

@@Saber23 How? If you grow to know and love a person who was once a stranger to you enough to be lifelong friends or even a spouse to that person, that love must be stronger than any familial bond because you aren't obligated to love that person by virtue of sharing DNA or legally being dependant on them for a long period of your life. It's a true saying, it just doesn't *always* apply.
@Saber233 жыл бұрын
@@PhantomationTV it’s BS because humans have an inborn natural disposition towards our blood relatives it’s literally what all of society was built on period and undermining any of that because of some vague idea of friendship or because your parents hypothetically don’t like the fact that you dyed your hair is downright delusional the love isn’t “stronger then any familial bond” it’s just a separate bond but then guess what happens you most likely have children with the person you don’t share blood with and the love of blood bonds is back
@PhantomationTV3 жыл бұрын
@@Saber23 What do you mean some vague idea of friendship? I'm not undermining familial bonds, for the vast majority of people, including myself, these are a very positive and integral part of our lives. But the potential in a relationship with somebody not in your family is theoretically much greater than the potential of a familial bond.
@Saber233 жыл бұрын
@@PhantomationTV what do you think I mean? Friendship as a concept is vague it varies from person to person let alone culture to culture and I didn’t mean you specifically were underestimating familial bonds (although you seem to be now) I’m speaking hypothetically and what do you mean “the potential is theoretically much greater” so this idea of potential (whatever you mean by that) isn’t even set in stone? Friends come and go family and blood is a constant a constant that like I said built civilization being “friends” didn’t build anything and in terms of romance that would make it kind of circular cause like I said if you meet that special person (and I hope everyone does) you most likely settle down and have children so the blood bonds and familial ties are there anyway
@Lockz11112 жыл бұрын
Just sorta a PSA I guess, if someone you love and who you thought loves you is irrationally upset about you being you. They didn't love you, they loved the idea of you, not the reality and if they can't come to terms with the differences you're better cutting them out

There are only two things worse than being punished for something you didn’t do: 1. Being punished for something without knowing what that thing is. 2. Being punished that you can’t understand why it’s wrong no matter how hard you try. She said herself how this treatment can make you question your sanity, and how painful it truly is. I don’t even know which box Emmy’s situation fills (maybe both of them?) but I am unfortunately speaking from both experience and observation.
