The holes help with releasing gasses and cooling, the main part with the slots is that it will clean any debris on the pads, say like little pebbles. When you do your breaks and see grooves in the Rotor, more than likely you had a pebble stuck between your pad and rotor at one time.

I did an upgrade to my brakes for 1400 canadian dollars (1000 usd) on my 335is, I got the f3x m performance parts brake kit with brake calipers, slotted and drilled rotors, pads, lines, and master cylinder front and rear. The trick was to get orange ones off ebay, nobody wants them in that color. The calipers need a bit of machining to fit in the front (included in the 1000$ price but done afterwards at a shop) however I believe a bracket exists for them nowadays because more and more people are doing this mod

You commented about brake line change on jack stands... it is a lot easier to wrench it from above on nice little chair and car on jackstand.. I do it on e91 in 1 hour all around and then bleed system. For us diyers we are used to work with jackstands. Just find a workflow that is fastest and productive and it works. It sure would be a great to own my personal lift but more on that later after kids...

Haha I did that too on my e46 M3 I installed the rotors the wrong direction 😂 but it lasted a long time also from eBay! Current setup is stock don’t need brake setup until I get wheels

i took your advise from a video a while back and have only done maintenance since i got my 135i in jan. full brake job with stainless steel brake lines and new caliper hardware was the first upgrade i did. close to $1,300. i actually couldn't find that special wrench and knew it was going to be a pain to do the lines so i had my mechanic do the install.

Nah bruh I ran hawk pads the other weekend on my 335is on a pretty short autox and the brake fade was unreal. I think a big brake kit is a must if your tracking your car or slowing down from a 150 pull

Black would be best color for the brake calipers with that wrap. And slotted rotors are better than cross drilled. Cross drilled has many cooling and temp change problems. They fail early.

I have a e90 335d. 400 hp, 650 ft-lbs of torque. Ive done 140 mph pulls and the stock brakes work fine. I didnt need a 4-pot upgrade. Not even the stoptech rotors. Just some cheap junk on ebay for $250 / set of 4.

Go black on the calipers. I ordered slotted for mine based on quite a few recommendations stating that drilled have a high tendency of generating small cracks. Either way, the setup looks awesome. Glad to see you showing love to the e93.

I would do calipers red 🤷🏽‍♂️. You pads more then likely are glazed over. So they won’t really wear down too fast cause that glazing over it doesn’t let them. And yes this happens a lot because ppl change rotors and pads and don’t season them. Either that or you drive it like a handful of times in these 4 years

I use EBC yellow stuff and I stopped on average 2-3 car lengths shorter. Red stuff about 1 -1.5 shorter but yellow stuffs are dusty and mysterious Last 6 mos.

A Company called POWERSTOP has powdercoated calipers that wont kill your wallet. I have had the Z23 carbon-fiber ceramic set for seven years and never have had any issues. Did my whole car for about six hundred bucks Rotors,Pads, calipers and sensors and they look good on my 2007 E93. check them out.

brake bleed new fluid dot 4 or 5. pad compound makes the biggest difference in force.

I think they put all them backwards. Cooling channels of the plate point in the direction of rotation of the plate (as seen from the outer circumference to the inner circumference). Right?
