BMW E36 Crash Alarm Relay Replacement

Hey i own a e36 98 323is coupe, all 4 turn signals will not stop flashing. The turn signal relay was never there when I purchased the car & now I see why. So eventually I put a new relay in & all 4 signals stay on, wat a PAIN! So I took it back out for now, Iv dealt with it for over a year now. I just get to wavy my arm out the window. Im so close to taking it to a euro shop.

I purchase a e36 328is 98’aftee it was in a accident. Getting it smog ready/inspected from dmv but can’t with the hazards going off randomly, changed the turn signal/hazard relay in the engine bay & also the crash alarm relay under the dash. Turn signals now work fine, but the hazards will randomly go off when I turn on the car. Maybe it’s cause I haven’t driven the car with the new relays but that’s just my guess? Any suggestions

Hello I have a BMWE 87 one series where all the turn lights come on and won’t switch off unless I disconnect the battery ! The left and right turn lights work when I press the turn signal indicator. However then the four turn signals “come back on once I’ve completed the turn. Can you advise on Whether this was similar with your car so that I know to replace the same part. Many thanks for your help (desperately)

Hello how you doing I'm having a problem with my cluster non of any of the gauges working they stopped an even the odmete cant see the mileage but the indicator still working signal lights oil light high beam abs breaks etc.. I dont know what happened if can help me pls...m

Check you fuses first, the gauges and lights in the dash operate on separate fuses. Then I would check for proper pier and ground getting to the cluster. In doing that you will need to remove the cluster and you could inspect for any signs of failed parts or broken solder joints.

might be late. but on my e36 323i 1997 it aint there, supposedly should be in another relay box but i cannot seem to find it

I am surprised it isn’t there. The other areas it may be is in the under hood box or the one behind the glove box.

@@YourCarGuyDR since i worte the comment to now i have fixed the issue. The issue was this relay (which on mine was behind the gauge cluster???) and a melted socket for the blinker bulb (y)

@@CreamDrop2024 Yeah the relay on my model was behind the cluster. Few screws to replace

I dont have a front left turn signal but I've never had this problem before, could that be the problem?

While possible it is more likely that you have a poor connection in another area. Check the fuses and connections to the front left and verify if you are getting power and ground.

Hi I have 1994 e36 and none of the hazard/indicators are working.The fuese,hazard relay and hazard switch are all ok, any suggestions please ?

Do your turn signals work?

If the turn signals aren’t working I would suspect a bad turn signal switch.
