This one was written and directed by competent people. It helps that it’s also a prequel to one of the best movies in the series (Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope). Meanwhile the other one was the third movie in a poorly constructed “trilogy” of movies by incompetent imbeciles that know nothing about good writing or directing and it shows at the box office. Imagine your third Star Wars film making less money than the first one. Disney SW movies are a joke except for this one.

What kills me is Disney nailed it with Vader in this movie. I wish they did more with it. Him walking through that hallway is what I believe to be one of the best scenes in the entire Star Wars franchise. There is genuine emotional response of fear with how they did the lighting, the music, and the way Vader holds himself while casually murdering rebels. So fricking awesome.

So she had NOT seen Rogue 1 when it was released due to this mission. When she came home, her family had seen the movie, knew what would happen in the movie, and knew she would freak out. I do kind of love how this movie recontextualizes the Leia/Vader conversation at the beginning of ANH. Watching that movie on it's own, you think that maybe she thinks he has no way of actually knowing she's a rebel, and so he's just massively overstepping onto her diplomatic privilege. After this movie, when she says "Only you could be so bold." I'm like "woman, he saw you peeling awayafter the heist!"

Shows what can happen when real writers and directors and actors are allowed to tell good stories. I'm German, 62 years old and a fan since 1977. For me and other fans our age, "Rogue One" was the salvation. No "but all groups have to be represented" no "the heroes all have to survive" and especially no "Anakin is such a great guy, that would be my dream man, he's not evil" etc. That was Star Wars (if at all) for 7-8 year olds, just horrible. Yes, Darth Vader is evil, evil to the core, he doesn't just kill the young Jedi in the Jedi Palace, he kills everything. The Nazis and other mass murderers would have enjoyed him. No morals, no empathy, for him it's "I kill 10, 100, 1000 or 10,000 no matter how much. You can only survive against such a beast, such an "empire" if you sacrifice yourself. And that's what happens.

Mad respect to the rebels essentially being meat shields against Vader for their comrades to save the plans. They knew wasn't a chance in hell and stood their ground.

This is the first movie in the franchises that actually fit the title Star Wars, is actually a war film, the others always feel like action adventure film.

This movie might be second best of the entire franchise. I’m in awe of the story they told.

There needs to be a "love" react for these! This was the last movie I ever saw with Mom. She cried when she saw the Princess. ❤

That single hallway scene made Vader terrifying again. Imagine if the same team did the final three in the series. We were robbed.

Rogue One was only beaten by Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith. What a movie, and all based off a few lines from the opening crawl of Episode 4.
