Desolatium was actually started as a Kickstarter, it changed a lot but the environments were made using 3D cameras as far as I remember, but obviously that didn't translate 100% to the game itself

Not to mention all the issues with ubisoft billing people after they canceled the free trial, and ubisoft support being MIA for a month when people were reporting it. A lot of people had to cancel through their card.

Ubisoft is such a joke man. Talented Devs and artists for sure but damn is the leadership absolutely 100% incompetent from top to bottom. Only reason they haven't folded yet is the AC games. Those are floating the company at this point and they keep screwing up there as well then I don't see how Ubi survives.

@@devantetoppin7879 Petty sure the Avatar one and the (other) Far Crys sell ok too. And the former is actually not bad. Star Wars will anyway. I'm actually less sure about AC Mirage. They just sold a lot of games, for like 5-10$ on Steam sale , vastly cheaper than on their own shop. And if the reviews are bad it's usually for reasons outside the actual game. Like the horrible launcher. But quite a few of them are worth 5$ and the inconvenience.

It doesnt do well enough to justify what they are putting in just look at Ubisofts stock price and how it has cratered over the years even during the pandemic where the who industry got a boost. They are like 80% dependent on the continued success of Assasins Creed which is a scary spot to be in for company that big.

Fun fact, rocksmith plus used to be cheaper. It was US $14.99 for one month; US $39.99 for three months; US $99.99 for 12 months till march when it increased to its current price. A few things I do want to mention -Rocksmith plus is missing a lot of features from 2014 and yet all they do is add new songs -Bass has been apart of the game since Rocksmith guitar and bass. -You can still play remastered via legacy console(PS3,ps4, 360, or Xbox one.) OR if you find a sealed box copy of the pc version of remastered which good luck with that. You can pick up a ps3 version of the cable, and the game for around 40-60 bucks. Not sure if you can still buy dlc for 2014 remastered. If your ps3 is jailbroken or has hen then you can play CDLC(Custom dlc.) But I dont know how to get the songs working on the ps3 version exactly.

For "The Last Hunt" that is Chinese on the screen, not Japanese. A good indicator that this is probably made by a Chinese developer, explaining the bad English in the sense that it is probably a small Chinese developer.

Chinese is all kanji looking, the ovwrly complex crap, but worse. Japanese has a lot more simple squiggles, Korean has a bunch of circles, boxes, and angles.

I used to work for Ubisoft, and worked on Rocksmith for a few months. Coming to it as a total and complete guitar noob it was INCREDIBLY fun and it did teach me.(The primary QA team was made up of actual players, I did some adjacent work.) Regarding the pricing of the game: I was told by people higher up that it's because Record Labels charge an enormous cost for licensing. It's also why music is region-locked and you don't get most of the best music. Now, are labels charging too much? Is Ubi just unwilling to pay the proper amount for the good songs? Are players eating the costs? My personal opinion is Yes to all.

@@YourFavoriteSon1 they are, and what's worse is that the licence expires and game devs are forced to shut down the game or it becomes an ongoing cost. Rocksmith 2014 being shut down was likely a licensing problem as much as a 'we want people to move to this new version' problem. There is very little overlap in the songs offered.

@@YourFavoriteSon1 Yeah as someone who knows many people in the music industry thats one of the things that has damaged so much gaming media. Btw the reason for the delisting of the previous version of the game also comes down to rights since usually you only have rights for a specified amount of time (see GTA losing songs or remasters coming out without the original soundtrack). Don't get me wrong Ubi deserves lots of blame on awful pricing and actions with the series but yeah the labels legal teams have damaged a lot. For instance Destiny 2 had a secret where it would play a licensed song which they had permission and people working in those departments at the labels were well aware how it was used, all videos of it though on youtube would get copyright struck even if they were just a short clip trying to guide you to how to do it, I asked some friends and they told me everyone was so mad at the legal departments because they were just striking stuff without communicating with anyone who approved the usage. One of the major issues also is that legal teams at record labels are no longer people who specialize in the industry to cut costs and simplify they now just hire a full firm to handle everything and stuff like copyright claims, old media with weird licensing agreements etc is all handled by mostly interns or people with 0 knowledge of the music industry and all who also don't talk to the rights holders to see how things are ok to be used.

@@TheXppp1 Labels have done loads of scummy ways to get crazy profits like they used to have mail order programs for buying records not because they wanted your money direct but because then sales couldn't be charted so that way they didn't have to pay the artist out much. Lot's of artists lost millions because of that and also lost out on awards and such too. And it's now getting worse like I have friends that work for labels and they are constantly annoyed with some departments because they literally can't do anything to build up their artists without some sabotage for greed

In Germany those true-to-life simulators were also pretty popular, with a bunch of really bad ones getting released. I remember watching "Feuerwehrsimulator" on german YT channels, what an awful game. A very big name in that industry is Aerosoft, which has made a lot of very bad running games, among them probably being the most successful with the Fernbus Simulator.

About Rocksmith: I own the 2014 version on Steam. It's awesome and it actually helped me learn to play some songs on guitar. Ubisoft now de-listing it in favor of their new version with such a predatory monetization scheme is just incredibly scummy. It aligns with their recent talk about people not owning games anymore, everything being subscription-based. Fuck them, honestly. Seems like those greedy assholes have learned nothing from the failure of Stadia and similar services. Edit: I just noticed that owners of Rocksmith 2014 are still able to purchase the song DLCs. Of course, why let 1356 opportunities of milking this go to waste.

Chasing the Unseen looks like a mix of Shadow of the Colossus, Grow Up, and the environments of Risk of Rain 2. I think it's got great potential because the environment really is stunning, but it needs to do something like Grow Up did and give you like an enemy to fight or an objective or even some collectibles. It was definitely super cool looking though

What’s wild is that I actually have played a number of UIG stuff because one day at target I was browsing the game section and in the deep discount section of PC games there was a 20 in 1 simulator bundle disc (in the year 2019 or so, mind you.) They’re all the same, super poorly made, boring experiences for the most part, but some of them were good for a laugh just because of the jank. It was bugs galore and when it happened it killed me every time lol.

It's a shame they fumbled the bag so hard with Rocksmith. I know a lot of people turn their noses up at it, and I understand why; but from the small sample size of my customer base (I should note, I build/repair guitars and other musical equipment) I've seen a lot of success stories over the years, from kids just starting out to retirees looking for a new hobby. With that said, the subscription model totally invalidates what made the original so appealing and accessible. I know it isn't the most comprehensive or theoretically challenging way to learn guitar but some people just want to learn because it's fun, and Rocksmith delivered that; anything beyond is up to the individual, but it is a good foundation and removes the initial learning curve that gets a lot of people down. Or at least it did. Much respect to the community still keeping it alive. I hope Ubisoft figures out a better scheme.

Also to add for the rocksmith+, I got RS 2014 for like 20 bucks back in the day. Has tons of mini games that help with your technique that the new version doesn’t have. They took core features out for a game that they didn’t even need to remake. The 2014 version also has the ability for Custom DLC which adds an endless library for you. Ubisoft is extremely scummy. $20 a month is incredibly steep that’s more than every streaming service I know. I feel bad for people just getting into guitar because RS is how I learned and now it’s stuck behind an extremely scummy price point.

There could also be some real stinkers and a reason no one has bothered reviewing them, so would also be entertaining.

I almost threw up when Airport Simulator 2014 came up, cause back around 2012 or 2013 I bought a retail disk of a game called "Airport Simulator" which looks EXACTLY the same as the one in your video. But this disk was printed in 2011. I actually dug it out of a box to check if it was the same game. This was back when I had built my first PC for gaming when I started working and earning money after high school, and I felt cocky about buying games at the local retail stores, cause that was how I discovered the gems like Skyrim and Civilization 5. I didn't have real access to broadband internet back then, so I couldn't really keep up to date around the world of PC gaming in general. But back to Airport Sim, I never felt so betrayed by anything or anyone. I really thought this would be a great game based on the box cover and the description. Played for about 6 or so hours hoping that the game would become good at some point and I would get my money's worth. But nope... I uninstalled it, boxed it away and never played it again. I felt ashamed for just having it in my possession. Hoping no-one found out about it and ask me why I wasted a family feast's worth of cash on it

The idea for chasing the unseen is I guess megalophobia and I have this and whenever I see something lke that, it instantly makes my spine shiver ngl I love the concept, those steep lands, unknown big entities and places and the mysteries are just something I could stare for days. If you're looking for something akin to Chinese Empire, but like, good, try 2002/03's Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom by good ol Sierra's Impressions Games. By incredible coincidence I"ve been revisiting that game lately, it was the last in their city builder series and it's by far the most complex and fleshed out. (but not so complex you can't easily jump in and learn! it's a good balance). GOG has it last I checked. My heart still belongs to Zeus in terms of the city builder series because that's the one I had as a kid, but Emperor is so much fun too and my favorite part of these games is learning things like general ancient Chinese history or what brine mining is.

On the topic of rocksmith plus, I really would have liked it if it had been an addon to the current game. Like play all DLC we have (and maybe throw in some "lessons DLC" for 15/$, but youre free to play the standard library plus any dlc you buy / CDLC you download. When I went into rocksmith plus, their library was really not my style compared to the stuff they have in 2014, its missing some features too. The Piano part and the fact that you can play on mobile is fantastic improvement, and the UI is... both better and worse. I was super excited, but left disappointed.

Wetwork literally has the developers native country Latvia used as base, and seems to be based around a bigger real city Ventspils. Even the targets name is in Latvian, which is an odd choice if you have the game completely in English. It was fun to see fellow latvian showcased here

I really appreciate how you give them a fair shake and try and find good in these games. A bad game with some good ideas is something worth praise, even if everything surrounding it is bad. Cash grabs can sod off though and deaerve to be called out.

In case there are any Civvie 11 fans around, Xmas Zombie Rampage is in the list of games The Last Hunt devs released. You can clearly see the same models are used for the zombies, as well as the out-of-place crystal model being the same ones used at the end of the levels here.

I bought Rocksmith on PS3 when it released and played it a little... I recently got a hankering to get my Guitar and learn it properly for once. Now just a bit of Backstory, Rocksmith is LITERALLY a guitar teaching aid, it was it's LITERAL design. The people who worked on making it were guitarist legends who wanted a proper game to teach guitar and not just coloured buttons. For this reason Rocksmith 2011 and 2014 were made by professionals who actually gave a sh*t. Rocksmith 2024 is not this, it's mostly just Ubisoft trying to make some $$$. I will say it 'can' still be used to teach guitar, but from the reviews and what I've seen, it is just a cash machine for Ubisoft, that's the reason they delisted the old games. I only just bought Rocksmith 2014 on PS4 recently and had to get a physical copy as it was delisted. It's best to also get the realtone cable as it is a lot more accurate then the microphone option, though it also depends on microphone and how well it is placed, just seen a lot of people who say ti lags too much compared to the cable. I highly recommend either of the OG games over the latest, one of the worst aspects of the new game is many of the songs are more expensive then iTunes and are covers. So your paying for a cover and your meant to be happy to pay more coz it's teaching you to play the song... but I've also heard some of the songs you pay for are not even correct notes, which if true is even worse. As I'm not an expert by any stretch I can't confirm if they got songs wrong so it's only what I've read online from reviews, so they could be wrong themselves, but still, Rocksmith 2024 is a shoddy cashgrab and Ubisoft is a trashfire of a company. Really pisses me off as the Og games had real heart in them and you can tell they wanted to actually teach you not just cash in.

You can never trust either professional reviews, user reviews, nor the general consensus when it comes to video games. There are numerous examples of games that are generally disliked that I just love, and games that have been praised to high heavens which I find utterly boring and unlikeable. As an example, Sonic Forces is almost universally disliked, yet for some reason it just hit all the right buttons for me, and I absolutely loved it. The only thing I hated about it was how short it was (first playthrough is something like 4-5 hours). Many games are hailed as the best games in existence, but I find them boring and uninteresting beyond belief. Two examples of this would be Bastion, and Shovel Knight.

not sure if it's something you'd be interested in (as i've only just found your channel) but one rts game i've been enjoying lately is 0 AD, it's an open source game with a pretty good ost. my most memorable moment would be when a friend and I were playing a match against each other, he went Rome, I went as the Picts. He had sent a couple cohorts against me but I managed to ambush him along the way then when I attacked he pretty much destroyed my army but I managed to do the same to him in the process... so with 3 soldiers left i managed to sneak into his base whilst he was busy moving another army to attack my base, keeping an eye out for any ambushes, he then noticed my 3 troops and tried to rush some cavalry back which arrived just in time to see his base fall to my three pict warriors

So far eighty not well received Steam games and going. Sir you deserve a medal for your determination. Also yes I have one, Earthworm Jim 3D not a joke. More recently you have to buy it in a bundle. I already owned the GOG version myself, it's terrible man. You have a bad N64 game somehow made even worst on PC. I am rather curious to hear your thoughts on it. Personally, it's among the worst platformers I ever played.

The great thing about Rocksmith was that it set the tone of the guitar to match the guitar track on the actual song, i loved playing the 2014 version, was a great way to learn songs as a beginner

About Rocksmith+. For those music "games" people forgot that actual owners of rights for those music also wanted a piece of pie... And nobody sell rights for permanent use of music. This is why some tracks was deleted from old GTA's for example. You can't even stream if You use some of tracks You got strike. Predatory there not only ubisoft, but entire music industry... Just because it is actually industry! Just think about.

To be fair, other guitar sites also try to bamboozle you into subscriptions, which makes RS+ almost the cheapest choice, seeing how an Ultimate Guitar Pro subscription costs around 20€ per month as well. Ubisoft should have made it like RS2014. Better spam dlc that can be bought whenever a player wants to instead of this subscription bs. But that's the guitar life; We pay for overpriced gear and subscriptions because too many people support it. Like, why was UG able to become a subscription based model when it was free for like 15 years

Excellent episode, bit grimmer in the subjects being mostly worthless offcourse. Ubisoft once was very interesting company doing great things and i was happy for it when they got their huge success off off the back s of PoP and spun that off into AC. than their less savoury things started to appear... and truly began to creep in. sad trajectory of most publishing houses isn't it? Give them success and they will turn it into excess. it dose not surprise me tat grift rich past (basicaly a showelware and random licensed nonsence) of Ubi came back it DOSE surprise me how bad they are treating customers. out of desperation i suspect? i do have minor grip with the editing on last hunt - in video the jumps started to occur just few sentences before the problem is mentioned it should have been keep for more visual synchronicity with the voice over. i honestly would not call it bad but i think that splat cat should be played by more people. it is very good idea on an easel bu dose have few problems. biggest problem i ave with it is my overwhelming incompetence. (but there are genuine issues like hitboxes being not matched to charakters and some problems with doing things on the fly, i could use something like pause or turn based play option for easier difficulity yep i am so bad i need game to have entirely new mode :/ )
