Just wanted to say a huge thank you for your guitar maintenance course instruction. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and had very little confidence in performjng sone of these maintenance checks. Last night, I adjusted the tension of the truss rod on my Gibson Explorer and Jackson DXMG guitars for the very fira3t time and all went really well. Highly recommend working through the full course.

I adjusted the truss rod/neck & fretboard to have zero relief or the fretboard as flat with no strings to apply any tension. That way whatever relief is created is a matter of & difference between the gauge of strings used as a set. Just me, but unless you're looking to do a complete setup from truss rod to nut slot cutting, saddle height & intonation, stay with the same gauge set of strings that the guitar was setup for originally. Just makes the process of restringing a lot easier & headache free. Hopefully the strings are consistent enough that a new set of strings is all that needs to happen.

Any chance you guys could do one of these videos on neck relief and action on acoustic guitars? I've got an issue with buzz on a few frets on my acoustic over the last month or so, which I think may be down to humidity. Just wondering how to deal with this? Not sure whether to try some of the dehumidifying products or whether I need to adjust truss rod. Thanks.

Just seen you talk about this from 7.00 onwards.

Great! Also, if you are generally interested in guitar repair and maintenance, we have a full course, totally free, with James on the site: www.yourguitaracademy.com/courses/james-collins/lessons/action-height - I'm sure you'll love it!

Hey, so my guitar doesn’t have neck relief at all. I can see the strings touching the frets. But my guitar doesn’t buzz at all. Should I adjust the truss rod or just keep it there

I don't understand. What exactly am I "feeling" for when adjusting the relief?

If you don't know, you shouldn't be adjusting it. That's not condescension, it's just facts. 99% of guitarists never touch their truss rod. If nothing is obviously wrong with your guitar then leave it alone.

The tech guy's good but that other guy is annoying. I wish he'd shut up and stop interrupting the tech with stupid comments and questions.

He's literally asking the exact questions a beginner to guitar setups(aka likely the intended audience of the video) would have. He's doing a great job.

Very informative, thanks! But please stop using the phrase "fair enough" inappropriately.
