@robert howardI'm guessing you're not from Chicago. white people are already in all the hoods of Chicago. What are u talking about? There's no hoods without whites.they are there day and night..bbq and birthday party....so what hood would it be? It's not segregated anymore. Lol. That stopped over 40 years ago. Same in Memphis. So why would a white person be attacked in the hood when we are fully used to white people in the hood too because they are our neighbors friends homies baby daddy the whole shebang..

@@rodmckinney40 it's not plantation politics because the whites are gaining very little from blacks at this current age. They give the field jobs to illegals now. It's historical. Its because of what Mississippi Is and who these Blacks are truly. They are indigenous to the area not from Africa. Natchez Indians, Choctaw, Chickasaw... Mizi Ziibi Also it is the last stronghold for Christianity. That Is another reason they are attacked in the media so bad and left to die economically and all other ways...this area was made a "sacrifice zone"

Im from Cincinnati, im staying in Mississippi with my cousin, I've seen zero instances of racism here so far other than segregated neighborhoods but we have that up north. From what I've seen Cincinnati is way more racist. Everyone here is as nice as can be, white or black. In my city there's also a very large number of black people that are racist towards white people. It doesn't just go one way....

Dont judge God's children because you think your in a better position. look around, everything you have, you can lose it in a heartbeat. all you educated people got all that education, will it matter when our Lord come back, will it get you into Heaven? Nobody chooses to be poor but they don’t necessarily have to keep living like this woman is living, hell I’m poor, living in the ghetto and on disability. I have a nice two bedroom hud owned apartment with central heating and air, fair rent and you only have a light bill to pay, some apartments, you only pay rent, which you can get help with if you need Help!! This woman has a child, there are many programs that move her to a better environment. Whoever made this documentary only chose the worst place that they could find to document, this doesn’t represent all of Mississippi!! So who’s judging who???? People that don’t live here, need to judging us from poor documentation by someone who obviously has done their full research and correct homework!!! This woman can come where I live and start living than where she is!! This is obviously where she wants to be and wants to live.

I’m so grateful that I moved out of Mississippi when I graduated college. Had I not I’m not sure where I would be. Even with a college education I just didn’t see myself being successful there. Jackson has to be one of the worst cities in America. Every time I go visit it gets worse & worse. The crime is atrocious. Anywho, this video was uploaded 11 years ago. I’d love to know how this woman is doing today or has she worked herself ragged in a cotton field.

This poor woman was wrong about one thing; this type of poverty in squalor isn't her fault. This is the fault of the prejudiced state in which she lives. If Mississippians could have dealt with the lasting effects of slavery, racism and disenfranchisement, then this woman would not be in this position of abject poverty. Let it be known, this is no isolated case. Tens of thousands live like this Mississippi. It's sickening to think of how smug these white Southern "gentlemen" have been of late, especially in light of the tragic realities that face so many Mississippians.

I don't make any excuses, I am of low income but of a privelegde because I am in the big city but am so willing to be of any help possible. EvolvingGirl114, I've often wondered about this myself. Will pay MOO-LA to help out children and adults over-seas, yet hesitate to help those in their own back yard! Our government does this shit too. Texas fares "a bit" better because Texas does not allow a lot of government intervention. Wonder if this is why people like this remain in poverty-stricken conditions? Either way, a dam shame that these citizens cannot receive the help that they really need.

I once took a road trip across the Mississippi delta, and was shocked to see how impoverished many little towns are. I saw many "houses" that were nothing but shacks. And here we are, riches nation on earth, and we can't even provide prefab houses, or solid trailers to house poor families? It makes me sick. This system is run by an evil elite that wants to grind us all underfoot ---and eradicate those they don't deem useful to their system.

This brings back many sad but invigorating memories for me. Life wasn't much better in Beaufort County, SC where and when I grew up. I am so glad somebody threw me a lifeline for a better future. I can never forget nor do I want to, the cold nights, the hunger pains, the very low self-esteem, from a nearly hopeless beginning. Lots of young kids are caught up in a system thats destining them to nearly certain failure, no matter how and how much they try to escape. Y'all gonna hear much more from me; lots of family members want to shut me up, not talk about it, just like so many want to forget the horrors of slavery and its aftermath. I believe wholeheartedly in truth: tell it like you lived it!!! The Almighty Force allowed you and me to experience this and you don't want to talk about it, ignore your condition? You already in HELL. Speak up!!! This is damnable. Mr TRUMP and Ms Hillary, neither of you have what Bernie Sanders has: the BEST interest of most hard-working AMERICANS, of all color shades; not just the elites.

"How long have you lived here?" She responds, "practically all my life". It may hard for us to imagine that living in an area without any kind of political representation like a mayor in an unincorporated area, things we take for granted like "garbage pickup", "long distance phone bills"-when we pay ridiculous prices for Comcast cable, Internet speed and phones now make long distance phone charges are practically a thing of the past. They may be able to afford a basic cellphone BUT NOT a "smartphone" where they can capitalize on apps that makes long distance, even international, calls "free".

This has more to do with the despicable homeowners. I do not care where you're renting a house. If you're renting a house, the landlord should make sure that everything is up to date and to code. I am absolutely appalled that they let landlords get away with not taking care of the houses to that much extent 😲 that's ridiculous 🥺

junsu21 Nope that's not what I meant at all. When I say someone, I mean people. Not the government, not the tax payers because they of course cannot stand the idea of helping out another human but will gladly spend $200 a month for satellite TV. People who need the help should receive the help, the world won't get better if no one steps in. Yes I do think we should stop blowing money on the military, ridiculous spending, bombing all of these countries and the fight for oil. People need to get their priorities straight and start helping to build our world into a better place. Every single time I lay my head down on my comfortable bed, I can't help but think of someone who's laying on cardboard or in a dirt hut. That's why I've tried to help as many people in need as I can. I can't do it alone, there simply as to be more people willing to help.

+Mentholian Smoke Truth! I try my best to help people I come in to contact with and break my neck to be polite. We got to try to heal this world, but a few people just simply can't do it. It's people still think in 2016 that your stupid vote actually counts. The corrupt gang of thugs that run this war machine only care about the top 0.001%, they say screw the rest of us. They are robbing the county blind! I pray to God that one day justice will come to all of the world's people who are staving.

@mysolyn First of all just cause a satellite dish is on a house does not mean that the house has satellite TV. It means at one point in time the house had satellite TV. Secondly, in really rural areas like that often times cable TV is not available so if they get the idea to want TV then satellite is their only option. Thirdly since when did having satellite TV make somebody not poor? They have satellite TV......they are living high on the hog.....yeah right.
