I don't think you're being harsh. I agree, while some certified "nutritionists" may be passionate about nutrition there's no guarantee they have the same educational background and experience as RDs. We work hard to become credentialed healthcare professionals and deserve to be respected in our field.

Hey Laura, this is an excellent/ informal video you've made. Your doing a great job and keep it up! I've lately been looking into switching careers that better suits people with needs, such as yours because I've descovered what it's like to be on a plant based diet that's helped me through so many voids. Many years ago I've realized that i never had the chance to fullfil any of my dreams with the environment I was born into. Well I'll tell you now I'm still in this tuff environment but I've made myself an astonishingly healthy person full of plant nutrition. I'll always remember this video and please keep up the good work! If you curious in how I'm doing, I recently descovered Instagram mine is "plantbaser" (I hate social media) and made some nice food post's and plan in learning more about making new plant based recipes. But anyway keep up the great work your doing!

Hi Laura, do you think males have an advantage getting into an internship due to the female domination in the field? I'm applying to internships this upcoming February. I graduated from my undergraduate in May of 2017, with a 3.2 GPA. I work as a Dietetic Technician now. I never took the GRE, I had no idea it had an influence on getting accepted into Internships. Why US have master of dietetics for non nutrition bachelor students, but there are none in UK, Canada and AUS. With only 2 years of practise and education in master programme, is it really enough to train a RD?

I recently found your channel! I really really want to go back to school to become a dietitian! The only thing I’m worried about is, I am a single mom, I found a school where I can complete my degree online however I am scared I won’t be able to get into an internship near my home. I cannot uproot my family and move, it’s just not physically possible for me 😕 What are your thoughts?

Did they kind of “reteach” the chemistry regarding nutrition/metabolism during your internship? Or did they expect you to understand it all already?

Hi there! I am currently a dietetic intern at USU. I did the distance track, so I had to find my own preceptors, but I didn't have to take the GRE. I had a lot of work experience though. There is a resource that give stats for all the internships, here is the link: twu.edu/media/documents/nutrition/AGSP-2017-2018.pdf Or you can google "Applicant Guide to Supervised Practice" It was really helpful to see the GPA cut offs, what they require, the number of applicants, etc. Hope this helps any RD2BE's!

what if you dont get an internship? can you keep applying? I'm really passionate about becoming a dietitian as of right now Im just taking prereqs so im not to sure how it works yet

Hi Amanda, Yes! I have friends who didn't get an internship the first year, but did the 2nd year. Also, if you don't get matched the first round, there's a "scramble" rounds, which means you try and connect with internships who didn't fill all of their spots!

So now that it is required to obtain a master's degree, does that mean the starting annual base pay is going to increase? Or do you believe it will stay the same?

I have mild cerebral palsy, and I want to be a dietitian. As of right now, I don't need much assistance but I know I'll need more assistance in the future. Do you think I'd be taken seriously in this profession, or do you think I should consider another?

Hi! The profession is what you make of it. Some jobs are more active and others are more sedentary. If you want to me a dietitian, I'd do it! We need more passionate professionals :)

How much protein we have to take in a post workout

Depends on your body size and how much you workout! After my workouts, I just make sure to eat a higher protein snack or a meal with adequate protein!

Yes! My roommate during my internship had a nose piercing and no one ever cared :)
