Also our best day was one Sunday where we played some video games, he turned on the radio and we just vibed while he went through his mail and took care of bills. It was so chill just being there together and not feeling any stress to do something or be something. I don’t think coffee is a friend zone moment. My God. Ed is a mirror of my ex. I had to stop watching the show because of how triggering their relationship became. He is EXACTLY like my ex. Once I finally figured out how fraudulent of a person my ex was, it's as if a switch finally turned off. I stopped thinking about him entirely and it was soooo nice! Well, watching this show has resurfaced all those negative emotions. Watching someone get repeatedly gaslit causes a literal physical reaction. My palms sweat and I feel a tightness in my chest. I'm happy you're covering this butt fkk circus and are calling this abuser out. Mine too, he’s a replica of my ex. My ex was over 20 years ago and watching Ed, I have ptsd flashbacks. It’s triggering. After our split (very short marriage), he later married someone who died by suicide (probably because of his abuse) AND then he dated someone who he broke up with (similar to Ed’s stunts) and he was so “hurt”, he killed her. He’s in prison until 20-40something. Ed is a sick, sick person who can’t handle women if he doesn’t control them…..just like my ex.

A therapist I had years ago showed this to me and I found it to be so, so, so accurate that everytime I find someone that is with a narcissist, I share it with them: The Narcissist's Prayer That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did, you deserved it. --- Definitely Big Little Ed wrapped up in a few lines. Narcissists will never apologize because to them, they never do anything wrong. Whether it's cheating, abuse, anything that any rational person knows is wrong, it isn't wrong to a narcissist. To them it's justified behavior, so no apology is needed. Something really sad with the Ed and Liz soap opera, if it's true, eventually any friends she has left are going to finally have enough of the flip-flopping and consoling her when she gets dumped again, so she's absolutely alone....with only him. The end goal. And she can't even see that.

Ed summarized their relationship best: “DON’T RUN AWAY” (5 seconds later) “WHY DO YOU KEEP COMING BACK?!”
@mdee8602 жыл бұрын
Exactly! 👍👏👏👏 Narcs are exhausting that way. When you stop giving them compliments & adoration (which they need like oxygen) they will then resort to picking ridiculous fights & argue back with word salad. They know exactly what they're doing because they have been 'honing' their skills for years, if not decades. Note that they all use tactics from the exact same playbook, such as: Love Bombing (at the start); then onto Gaslighting; The Silent Treatment; Lying Overtly or by Omission; Selective Amnesia; trying to Isolate you; Emotional Abuse; Verbal Abuse; Financial Abuse; & sometimes, even Physical Abuse; Rage & Anger problems; Devaluing (by trying to Shame you - trying to break you down even further); often there is Infidelity; and a major one is their Projection. Please understand that they will NEVER CHANGE, just run & never, ever go back when they try to Hoover you back in. The main reason Liz fell for & stayed with 'Little Ed' (& why most other victims stay) is simply because the Narcassist felt so familiar to them. Either their Father or Mother or a person of influence in their childhood. It's complicated but people can go on KZbin & learn about the many types of Narcassists. Dr. Les Carter 'Surviving Narcassism' and also, Dr. Ramani are 2 of the very best, IMHO, at explaining how they Narcs operate. Once you learn & see it.... you can't unsee the patterns & damage they do - on purpose! People stay because they think the person they fell for during the 'Love Bombing' stage will revert back to that person. Magical thinking! Sadly, it was all a ruse just to lure you in - it was all just smoke & mirrors🪞 from the start. They are among the most insecure & defensive creatures you'll likely ever meet. Run, Run, Run. 🏃♀️

To everyone saying they don't feel sorry for her anymore, this is common of someone who grew up in an abusive household or had a traumatic upbringing is searching for a relationship that gives that chaotic feeling because that feeling is your normal. It also has to do with how manipulative Ed is and likely the money.
@UnchaineDL Жыл бұрын
Thank you for saying this. I am not super invested in THIS relationship, but like many of us, I have been abused my whole life by Narcs as well... it's so heart breaking to see everyone get is fed up and eventually abandon her. which is exactly what these narcs want. and it's so soul crushing that you're right... that's all people like her know. I hope she does find SOMETHING no matter how tiny to latch on to that will propel her to get counseling and find support so she can gain the confidence and the strength to start over.
@emmagatewood3898 Жыл бұрын
Lots of us grew up like that, and ended up in relationships like that. The difference is that for many of us, at some point we felt disgusted by the chaos and decided we didn't want that anymore... That's why people don't feel bad for Liz. It's not that we don't understand how she got into a situation like that. It's that we don't understand why she decides to stay, day after day, year after year, fight after fight, public humiliation after public humiliation... Even with people reaching out to help. Even with a child looking up to her as a role model. It's just gross at this point.
@UnchaineDL Жыл бұрын
You, know I am inclined to agree with you. I similarly went back and forth with my ex for several years. But the thing that is different between me and Liz... Is that I was being gaslit by literally everyone around us. My ex was so quiet and he did not hit me and I spent my whole life being violently abused by my narcs. My ex is extremely dangerous and unhinged but for the longest time he was able to uphold that mask and everyone from his family, my dad (red flag because he's a narcissist), my now ex friends and strangers/aquatintinces all convinced me my husband was so agreeable (he was but only to your face he did not handle confrontation at all so he agreed to anything anybody said with a smile but literally within seconds or minutes of they person being gone he would do the exact thing he just agreed he wouldn't do and then people thought I was trippin and toxic when I would claim this) and just "confused" and he's trying and I'm too aggressive and pushy and I start fights with him (none of this was true) and i can't expect change overnight, then he started up with religion (I believe in the Christian Bible) and that's how he turned the last of my friends against me because he would talk about learning how to pray and the love of God and would send me and other people Bible verses and would use and twist verses against me and seriously (I didn't know religious abuse was a thing at this point in time)...just to get to the point... Liz doesn't have that. She is being abused and gaslit by ed and partially his daughter or whatever...but the majority of people are constantly trying to tell her all of this and support her and then she has thousands maybe millions of fans also do this. So from my POV... Her actions are not longer justified and that's hard to say because I never want to diminish a Victim... but I just shared surface level trauma of what was happening to me (of course it goes deeper) and I had no where to turn that wasn't gaslighting me whether knowingly or unknowingly because my ex husband did a wonderful job acting sincere and ignorant for many years. So idk... I wish I would've had the support and constant people telling her what's happening and that she deserves better and to leave and some people even standing up for her to Ed...I've NEVER had someone stand up for me in real life and my "best friends" watched me her beaten by my dad and my husband watched too... While I'm holding my baby in my hands. Ain't nobody ever supported me like that. so I hope she stops leaning on this and gets help. Even I took responsibility for my ignorance and trauma and been getting help for years now.

Something I've learned about narcissists (& I currently live with one) they seem to remain in a child-like state/mindset. They throw tantrums and then come back 5-10 minutes later as if nothing happened. It also may not seem like it, but they do understand that what they're doing is wrong, they just don't care because it's not THEM being wronged. When it comes to arguments the things they focused on are stupid and never make sense, while constantly trying to push your buttons so you're the one who explodes and looks "crazy". Narcissists are exhausting and take it from me, ignore them until they acknowledge you because it bothers them that you're not up their asses 25/8.

13:42 I find Liz irritating because she’s literally doing this to herself. Ed is trash and everyone knows it but she keeps rolling around in the dumpster and wondering why she smells. She has the benefit of being on tv and getting multiple perspectives on their relationship so there’s no way she’s unaware of her options. She knows about her and Ed’s issues and can seek therapy for herself whenever she wants. She could even try to monetize it online if she’s really just in it for the money, but she does absolutely NOTHING to help herself. She keeps letting Ed walk all over her and then complains about it as if she has no control over her life. And the most frustrating part is that she has a daughter and she should be trying her hardest to be better for her. I’m sure the show is scripted to some extent but the fact that she considered passing on a job that would make her financially stable for the child SHE brought into the world just to make Ed happy is disgusting to me. Why even put that out there? Yes, Ed is a narcissistic dirtbag but he can’t harm anyone if they don’t give him the opportunity. Then again, maybe Liz has a humiliation kink. Lol

After I stopped dating, it was a hard realization that I was trying to be my boyfriend's provider being a disabled woman myself. It was exhausting but I'd never expect my partner to put in the same effort. I'd shower him in gifts and nice things until I realized my relationships were more like 80-20 instead of 50-50. I guess the thought of someone providing for me is terrifying because I know what happens when you let the covert narcissist have control over that stuff. I guess I learned growing up that women are valued for what they can provide to their man and un-learning it is pretty hellish tbh. But we do what we can.

Thank you for this video!!! I've always had low self-esteem because I tend to have more masculine tendencies than feminine. I was raised in a single parent household, so I watched my mom earn a master's degree and have a career just to provide. And we still struggled from time to time. I even had to deal with abandonment issues because of my father. I see working, having a career, and getting an education as surviving. Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't go to my head. So, the fact that me going to school and working is a "problem" in the eyes of "dating gurus" because I'm not "feminine enough" is ridiculous. And it's not only the men. I've had women tell me I need to be more feminine :( what does that even mean because I know someone who dresses very feminine and has a HORRIBLE attitude. She's also a stay-at-home mom, and never went to college. Not saying anything is wrong with that, but she is the "complete package" in the eyes of the "gurus". At the end of the day being respectful is what's important. There shouldn't be a problem with me trying to survive. It would be nice to be asked why I value work and education instead of assuming that I hate men and don't need one. The one thing that studying psychology has taught me is self-worth. I'm not going to disregard seeing my mom having to be mom and dad, experience abandonment, and not having food in the fridge just to seem "feminine". Thank you again for acknowledging that hardship and psychological trauma plays a HUGE role when it comes to career-driven women. Of course there are exceptions!! (This is a message for those who may argue against my post).

When I was in a relationship with a covert narcissist it was really hard to let it go, because we were both sick. I had to go to therapy for a few months before I had the courage to leave him, because it was really hard. But I believe in her case maybe they just want to stay famous and need to be together for that to happen. That kinda sucks for other victims of abuse like that. I don’t understand how they can have a show that depends on people being sick in the head to be entertaining, but I love watching these commentary videos 😂

Girl- Same! 😅 I don't have cable & haven't for decades & so the only way I keep up on any of this trash tv, is through commentary channels like this! I don't feel as icky inside as when I'm watching things that can be edited to be very intense & I darn well know, that there is something; that is really freaking wrong with it all . But I think maybe because I'm neuro-divergent, I really can't ever seem to quite pinpoint clearly all of the intricacies of it all, it feels like it's just on the tip of my tongue. Besides if wetsock's just showing bits of the 'action' with commentary, because when I watch the show which is heavily edited to be bigger, badder, worse by the production crew. So sometimes will get all worked up inside, because of what I'm watching, like I'll I feel physical/emotional feelings of stress and/or anxiety pretty easily when watching intense things, obviously I mean like; more so than most 'normal' people... I think I just prefer being TOLD about the drama (especially if the person has a good sense of humor), not to actually watch it for myself first-hand, my heart doesn't need the stress! 😩
