Stop lying. If African music was all that, then why isn't everyone copying them instead of Black people in America? We are not African and yet our rhythms appear all over their music. Even the great and honorable Fela admitted he got his flavor from us. This is why we will never be cool with our African cousins until they recognize the inherent superiority of a particular group of M'bantu called Israelites. Just my opinion, with all due respect. I love how music can transport me and experience a vibe i didnt know existed. something i cant really express in words. Its a trip of the imagination. its fast moving and fluid. subjective almost as though an exploration of the self and our idealism. how we romanticise what we dont really know and escape into it. which isnt true for all but certainly is for me as an outsider and newcomer from the outside looking in. I dont understand the words but I understand the vocal inflection rhythm and emotion conveyed and am seduced into the journey.
