I feel like not releasing a documentary that shows how bad David Dobrik can be is just as bad just making a documentary that makes him look good
@JeffreyArts18 күн бұрын
Him not publishing the documentary on David Dobrick is an extrapolation of his stance on Israel. It's his love for Dobrick/Israel that he doesn't want to hold them truly accountable for the injustice done via their actions. In both scenario's he expresses that he values both sides "equally", but by doing so, it only empowers the party that is in the more powerful position. It doesn't help the suppressed party. Wether these are the victims of David Dobrick's actions, or the Palestinians that are being de-humanised by the state of Israel.
@DoctorQcumber13 күн бұрын
That's an interesting point, but I think it's also just the classic centrist worldview. You only learn enough about an issue to get to that sweet spot of the Dunning-Kruger effect where you have peak confidence in your worldview, even though it remains pretty uninformed and largely incoherent if you scratch beneath the surface. But it feels good to think you know better than everyone else, so you dismiss people as too extreme when you don't have any substantive counterarguments to their points, all the while telling everyone you're willing to listen to both sides.

Hold Israel accountable for .. getting invaded by terrorist? He is a New Yorker, a Jew, and he was in NY on 9/11. There absolutely zero chance Casey would not sympathize with the people of Israel and the way Jews have been targeted since. As he was explaining, America's foreign policy does not mean it is open season against Americans. It is the same with Israelis and all peoples. Also, you do not hold a country 'accountable' by saying it should stop existing.

Happy to hear what Casey has been up to, i haven't seen his content in well over a year. It just rubs me the wrong way the fact that Casey isn't sure about sharing the documentary when, in one way or another, the victim had to re-live the experience by talking to him, watching the film and having whatever involvement she had in it (idk the extent) just because he "still deeply loves and cares about David" is crazy. He said it himself, they trusted him to share their story and it ended up in a dark corner of Casey's storage device... i really hope he decides to share it, because David's behavior is unacceptable and he needs to be held accountable, even more so after what happened to Jeff....

The problem with Casey and Israel is the fact that he showed support for IDF (by supporting Eylon Levy in his Instagram on March 2024), not just the Jewish cause. IDF is politics. So no point in saying in the video that you do not understand Israel politics and then supporting its major policy enforcer. The problem with Gaza now is not anti-semitism. What Israel been doing for decades is ethnic cleansing, invading territory and disrupting Palestianian chances of creating a viable state by supporting radical extremism (it is well documented Israel's involvement in the creation of Hamas). So by waving his little flag by the window, what he is actually doing is supporting a right-wing government, with two radical ministers (Yoav Galant and Bezalel Smotrich) that want to cleanse the Palestinian people and exert territorial dominion in the area, with the support of the US and British forces. For someone with such reach, Casey needs to study a bit more.

i think he just didn't want his youtube videos to be him constantly talking about his app. he wanted it to be separate, especially when even though you're a fan of him, some people dont like him or have negative impressions of him, so its better for his separate business if its not attached to his other brand image especially if he's planning on building it up to sell it eventually, if a company relies too much on a person to be the brand then its much harder to sell it because the company buying it can't own him. he likely won't come as part of the deal for anymore than a few years. and so losing the person who is the brand image can destroy companies when customers only bought into it because of who made it.

I guess with that busy person on daily basis and so many things happened at that time, the timeline is broken a bit for him subjectively. We, who followed at that moment, know kinda better. The Beme idea came a lot later after he started daily vlogs and then mentions of it, and later the app, started appearing in the videos. At that time the vlogs were fun and random. Jeff wittek was directly injured by David who sped up that crane, then he left that dude high and dry, because no one held him accountable. Jeff decided to sue because of the things David said in the rough cut of the documentary. David did handle things poorly but that dude in no way is a good guy. Framing protesting the killing of the Palestinian civilians as "anti-semitism" is one of the cheapest and most disingenuous things one can say. Then he says that he doesn't know anything about Israeli politics or Netanyahu. Israeli government went much further than protecting the Israel's right to exist. Neistat obviously has a problem with Palestine's right to exist. Hypocritical doesn't even begin to describe it.
@MaxRosewater18 күн бұрын
Most protests perpetuate the same messages that Hamas tells, which is to free Palestine by taking Israel, which in the Hamas charter very literally says in writing to massacre all jews around the world. If you are Jewish and listen to this often, how would you feel? If you believe what you say, then you should tell Hamas to release the hostages (including American citizens btw) and end the war they started. And to stop hiding guns, bombs, and their military bases in civilian homes, hospitals, and schools. Also, tell them to stop killing people for being gay and stealing Palestinian aid. If you truly understood anything about the Israeli army instead of watching propaganda from TikTok, you would strongly change your stance. I write you, similarly to Casey, as a Jewish man trying to have a real conversation about the conflict. I strongly agree and understand what Casey is saying. And, I urge you to reconsider your stance here.

Referring to Pro Palestine marches as "antisemitic" is extremely telling. That lack of self awareness and of empathy, combined with a sense of entitlement, goes hand in hand with the way he's handled the documentary. The full throated declaration of "not one to hold my tongue" falls a little short when you give a rape victim a voice, then lock it away. Israel's greatest enemy is the information age. Great interview. Always love Casey related content. Solid questions that captured a more open side of him. Definitely gained a sub. Also that 4k quality is crispy 🔥

I have watched pretty much all of Casey interviews and vlogs over the years But this is by far one of the best insights extracted from him Nothing new but just the way all the things he said over the years condensed into one interview The way he broke down how he thought of a simple video of the fire hydrant or bike lanes which I ended up rewatching and gave me a different perspective after hearing his behind the scenes thoughts process

That was a really good interview!

Great interview, I was really late to Casey (knew of him but didn't 'get it') but I watched hours and hours of his videos and I really Love them He should be paid by the New York Tourism Board for his Videos you can feel the craft and love in them and they are genuine honest and warm - an amazing story teller, and I miss him posting content more regularly.

That large marge seen stuck with me my entire life, never noticed the tracks all this time. Reminds me of why i like the batman directed by tim burton... it feels like a "film" like a "set" like a piece of art.

This is a really great pod!! i've watched every pods of casey.. but I love how this one is not repitative.

This interview was GREAT! Especially I liked the questions about the break down of the vlog but what I really disliked was the out-of-context summary at the start. But it's an art itself xD 🤷♂ Anyway great job fun to watch!
@youshaei14 күн бұрын
Thank you! And by out of context summary at start, do you mean the intro? Or my first question about the vlog? Tried to give context by sharing the metrics so curious to hear your thoughts, always looking to improve
@alexfu732914 күн бұрын
@youshaei The intro. Exactly. Sorry. Yes you did indeed 👌

The end was a fire🔥🔥🔥! Love it. This is one of the reasons I always say, "A lot of people are going to make money and go buy Ferraris, Lamborghinis or Yates, which is nothing wrong to do. But nothing better than having your life together and buying yourself the freedom to be yourself. Brutally honest can save the world, honestly. Thank you, Casey, for your amazing work

I’m so disappointed in Casey for not letting the documentary speak for itself…thought he had more loyalty to the work and the victim who trusted him with her story. Not showing David in his own words is simply enabling a grown man who clearly needs to learn

so if you don’t like it why are you waving the israeli flag during a pro palestinian protest? you’re doing it because you’re not allowed to do it? playing devils advocate is advocating for the devil. this explanation is very childish 1:47:53
