Coach D! Appreciate what your doing. Your the man! Heading into my 3rd year coaching and we've been the underdogs every year and been to the Chip 2 years in a row, losing one with a tough ref PI call and losing the other with a last minute tipped catch miracle. My QB/LB and star WR/S have went on to high-school and play tackle so I have a fresh new team, all who have never played before besides my twin boys. So Im super hyped that the Algorithm sent you to me because Ive just been doing my own thing and was like let me look into what other people are doing and bruhhh this is good stuff. I just ordered 10 wrist bands with the bundle. This will give them a boost of confidence and advantage that we will need this year! Thanks again!

YES indeed! A coach who is constantly elevating, seeking, and open to learning something new at every level. This is so inspiring and I can’t wait to see what happens next as you unleash more of that potential in your community. Those wristbands are en route and will be there soon. Let me know how it all goes! Super pumped by this comment! Get some!! 🏈🔥

Rushers "curve their run" and chop their steps / square up to force the qb to weak side. Soccer defenders videos talk about this concept as well. So check out videos about curving your approach/run in soccer defense drills.

Timely video. Used this yesterday to help teach my rushers! The rush saved our D last week (a lot of new kids) by shutting down an opposing 8-9 year old team's potent passing attack in a 6 on 6 NFL Flag league game. Especially with 6 on 6, rushing someone is a no-brainer with 5 other defenders left to pull flags and QBs not allowed to run when blitzed. Unfortunately, we can only rush straight up from a single marker in our league.
@CoachD2 жыл бұрын
All these different rules…all good. You can still do well up the middle - maybe just offset to one side and then the other just a few feet off that center mark. Then you can quickly shut down their strong side and disrupt the backfield even from that middle position. Always learning out there - good stuff! 🏈🔥

@@CoachD We made it to the Championship Game in an 8 team league (tied for first place in the regular season). Unfortunately, we lost to a team with more older kids who were far more experienced. The league put the rush line 15 yards back from a single position which really hurt our attempts to pressure a great passing team. I only coached defense since the league placed me as a co-head coach whose child played QB. The kids improved so much. We'll be back in the Spring!

Thanks for the update! Congrats on all the success and improvement out there. You’re having more of an impact than you know. That’s really awesome. They will never forget the experience. Looking forward to hearing about more success in the spring. 🏈🔥

Hey Coach D! Can you tell us about how you discreetly signal which of the CB's will be rushing?
@CoachD7 ай бұрын
You can do signals (mix it up but one hand movement means one of them is rushing). This way the other team won’t catch on. You can call out Red Tiger 52 (meaning 5 rushes), then Pink Camel 64 (meaning 4 rushes), and make up others but it has 4 in there somewhere. Get creative.

So I play flag football and I'm a slower kid so I'm wondering where I should play on the defense
@CoachD2 жыл бұрын
I like you being in the front and dominating w flag pulling. Or at least getting in the way of a runner in the front so your other team mates can come support you. Keep working on flag pulling, especially for up front 1-3 yards off the line of scrimmage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpfVfYuHaLSimJI

I got randomly thrown into coaching this season in this formation the player in the very front is he at the scrimmage line then? Like face to face with the center
@CoachD Жыл бұрын
Nope. Give a 3 yard buffer to allow for agility at the line. Thx for leaning into your new role out there!! 🏈🔥

Do the plays come in the wrist bands already? Or is there is there a package with the plays already in the bands?
@CoachD Жыл бұрын
The plays come in wristband insert PDFs per age group in the Complete Coach Package, so you just select your age group, print, laminate (optional), and insert. They are not printed and inserted with the wristbands already. If you want both plays & wristbands, get the Plug & Play Bundle: www.flagfootballwithcoachd.com/products/ultimate-bundle-plays-wristbands-coach-ds-complete-coach-package-all-playbooks-drill-packs-10-wristbands

I have a shorter 5 yr old player who's flags almost touch the ground, the league said they can be trimmed but didn't specify how many inches off the ground they should be. What would you suggest? I feel likes its cheating to have shorter flags so hesitant to cut them but theyre about 1" off the ground with his height lol
@CoachD2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I wouldn’t cut the them. I never had an issue with our 4 and 5 year olds, even the shorter ones. I would make sure the belt is secured nicely around their waste so they aren’t slipping. Let me know if you hear back from the league about how much they recommend trimming them. Interesting!

Coach D, in your opinion what are the differences, pros and cons of the 1-3-1 husker compared to the 2-2-1? Thanks!
@CoachD6 ай бұрын
If I’m getting crushed in the middle then the Husker is the way to go. If I have a monster flag puller show can go across the field and dominate, I like the Husker. If they keep pulling me deep with 2+ receivers then I have to go 2-2-1 and pull 2 safeties back. It really depends on what I see from the offense. Check out my defense playbook where I go into even more details on why use the 24 different defense plays/formations (both with and without a rusher). flagfootballwithcoachd.com/products/coach-ds-complete-coach-defense-playbook-new-and-popular

Do you feel like rushing is the most important defensive position. Also what type of player would you have as a Rusher (example: fast and agile guy, or a tall and lanky guy who has a lot of reach, or just someone who is average that can grab a flag but can’t get to the QB occasionally
@CoachD Жыл бұрын
I do think the rusher is super important. My son is agile, and relentless. Doesn’t have to be tall, just get after their good side so they feel the pressure and make a mistake. Shut down their good side - that’s usually someone w good vision, quickly, can cut well, and won’t give up. Try that and you’ll be great. Check out my defense playlist and my defense formations videos to see my descriptions for each position. Who should play which position, etc. Get some!! 🏈🔥
