HI like it as kids can understand it easily. Would also show the GK moving up rather than stay on his line.
@soccerdots2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Absolutely agree about the goalie, don't let them sit on their line. Encourage them to stay engaged in the game by following their teammates up the field. Especially when the ball is in the attacking third, I like to see the GK move well beyond the 18-yard box to be in position to intercept a long ball or to offer a back pass option.

What are your thoughts on a 3-4-1
@soccerdots3 жыл бұрын
If the outside midfielders are good about shifting up to join the attacking line with the striker, that works. Just be careful the midfielders don't stay too flat, or it may turn into a kick and run game with your striker doing all the running up top. The 3-3-2 formation might have a better balance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIuTfKWPmr-VY6c&t

What about a 2-3-2-1?
@soccerdots5 жыл бұрын
There are times when a 3-2-3 formation will temporarily shift into a 2-3-2-1, but I generally prefer using the 3-2-3 as a basis for player education.
@jimrobertello27925 жыл бұрын
I like the 4-3-1 or 2-3-2-1 because you teach it now and get the benefits of having taught it when you get to 11v11 and install a 4-3-3. All you have to do is add two outside forwards (11 & 7). It also allows me to call positions by the numbers in a 4-3-3 just excluding the 11&7.

If a formation encourages players to have dynamic movement off the ball, then I think they're great. For example, in a 4-3-1 the wingbacks could support the attack by making runs all the down to the opposing corner. Teaching players to effectively transition from defense to attack (and vice versa) by shifting their formation to support each other is important. As players start to master these concepts, I believe they become more adaptable for any team formation they may be introduced to down the road.

SoccerDots yup. I agree. I actually changed to a 3-3-2 for about a month bc we weren’t getting anywhere with the attack. It helped but we gave up a lot of goals. So, I balanced it & went to a 3-2-3 and we placed 2nd in the year end tournament & we had 3 shutout leading up to the final. We the same players, I’m moving to 11 a side next year. I’m thinking 3-4-3 or 3-4-3 diamond midfield.

Do you have a video on how the midfielders play when the other team has the ball?
@soccerdots2 жыл бұрын
No, but they certainly need to cover the most ground and immediately drop back when the other team wins the ball.
