I am a UK graduate and was working in Karachi at a multinational company for 5 years at 75k. Although I accomplished all my quarterly and annual targets, I never got promoted. This is mainly due to internal politics and lack of vision and employee empowerment at the top level. Being married and having a child in this economy meant that I had to take desperate measures. So, I moved to Germany on a student visa, this time not to study but in fact to find a fulltime job. Although it is a struggle but I would say there is hope.

44:45 Well Junaid Bhai, only some communities in India do, mostly Gujrati and Telugu community. In North India, its same as you. In 2010, I had received an admit from one of the top 25 universities in US for engineering. I was also in touch with a professor, and he said he interested in offering me position in research lab but he is might not get funding by then. So I had to arrange tuition and living expenses for 1 semester. All my relatives in US discouraged me to come, giving me taunts I would bring poverty to my parents. My father and mother backed me and ignored all relatives. Even after reaching in US, these relatives kept messaging me "You are wasting parents money". Within 3 months, professor received grant and I received 100 % tuition waiver and monthly stipend. All relatives were silenced. In 2 years, instead of giving I saved 15,000 USD. With that money, I called my parents, took graduate walk and showed them around US. None of those relatives said anything, or even wished me for getting a master's. But Gujrati community is supportive to its people. They even sponsor green card for their family members.
@MSthesmart2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Americans are more willing to help then people of our own community. I lost many friends and relatives after moving to US because rather they were jealous or taunt me betraying Pakistan and Islam. I promote my cultural and religious values alot in my university. I also study in one of the best engineering school in America. Recently find many Indian master students.
@sanjayarora47692 жыл бұрын
@@MSthesmart That's good, all the best. We should try to cut all toxicity of our life. It has nothing to do with moving to US. After studying in US, I came to India and even then people taunt. First, not easy to get job in India. I had multiple offers within 3 weeks. Then they taunt about not being able to drive, then random things. It's part of the social structure to put someone down to feel happy about it.

For the US spouse visa case, ask your spouse to put the furniture in a rental storage. It costs a little but many people do this and is very helpful. Also, hire a property manager to get you rented out. This way you will be sure that no tenant problem arises later on. With that done, he can move to Pakistan for 2 years. In the long run, 2 years will not matter much. Good luck! Also, hire an immigration lawyer. You can find many Pakistani or Muslim immigration attorneys who understand the situation well.

Guys, allow me to share my story please. I completed my masters (Petroleum Technology) in 2009 from University of Karachi. I literally went to every single company in Karachi and personally handed over my resume. I even requested them to please hire me as an intern, don’t pay me any money, I just need some experience to get my foot in the door. Unfortunately, no luck. Then I moved to Islamabad and started living in a hostel since most of the Oil and Gas company headquarters are located there. Every day I used to visit a company or two so I can meet their HR Representatives or any Engineering manager to hand over my resume. I struggled for almost a year and finally decided to return Karachi to find any job. Then my friend convinced me to move to Australia on a student visa. Back in the days, it was easy to get a student visa even on a Diploma. Total cost was 700K PKR including first semester fee, air fare and some extra cash to survive first few months in Australia. I came here in September 2011 and rest is the history. Alhamdulillah, I am a citizen here, earning a decent salary, getting all the first-class benefits from the Australian Government. Free education and medical for my kids. Safe and secure environment. But I really feel for my friends stuck in Pakistan. I feel for my nephews and nieces. Will they go through the same struggle I did 12 years ago, or things have changed? I really want to know, what are the opportunities for a fresh graduate in Karachi? If any of you need some guidance on how to move to Australia, then don’t hesitate to contact me. May Allah make it easy for everyone.

@goalisticfaz2 жыл бұрын
How do I respond to the question “I want to come to Australia, please help me”? No one can help you. You are your own driving force. You have to do your own homework and then come up with a more meaningful question. Let’s make 3 scenarios 1) You want to come Australia on a Study Visa 2) You want to come on a graduate visa. 3) You want to directly get PR and then migrate to Australia There are other ways too like a spouse visa but that’s not in the scope of my discussion. The very first mandatory step in all the visas, is your English score (IELTS or PTE). Start preparing for it now and aim for minimum 7 each. For Scenario 1) Based on your budget, choose the degree wisely. Diploma, or undergrad or masters. Aim for cities like Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane Visit all the education consultants in your city and see what they can offer you. Look for scholarships online, Australian Endeavour Awards is the one to look for. If you have just completed Intermediate, then see if there is an opportunity to get a student visa for a diploma course. If you have completed a bachelor degree (4 years) and have zero experience then apply for a master’s degree (if you have enough funds), else wait for the scholarship or you can apply for a grad visa by checking the following link immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-recognition-graduate-476#Eligibility Happy to discuss scenario 2 and 3 in detail if you have any specific question.

For the person with the US spouse visa issue, I would recommend consulting an immigration lawyer for best approach. One option might be to apply to a university for graduate studies and go on a student visa since those are processed on a priority basis, and then you can apply for adjustment of status once you are in the US.

I would suggest AGAINST applying for a student visa. Not only is that a lengthy process of applying for a school, getting accepted, paying those fees and applying for the visa immigration can see that you have a spousal visa pending and they will see right through it. Spousal visa of a US citizen is given the highest priority and unfortunately it will take the time it takes. My own spousal visa application got delayed due to covid but I was lucky as I could visit my husband and stay with him for 6 months at a time as I am a Canadian citizen and don't require a visa to visit. But every-time I went I was upfront about who I am visiting and that I have a green card application pending. I had to wait almost two years to get my visa and I know its hard having your life on hold but I still would never suggest trying other sneaky methods that desi ppl love to suggest. Its a bad idea and usually ends up prolonging the whole process. Also, I wouldn't agree with Junaid bhai on having the husband move to Pakistan as you do need to show proof of income that is more than the poverty line and they ask about it at the interview. Overall def consult an immigration lawyer before making any moves.

I am a little surprised at the quick and impulsive suggestions being floated here about immigration. Most of these suggestions are being given to people who are more concerned with "escaping" and "reaching" US/UK/West. But because of this haste and quick-fix approach, they end up in a fifteen-twenty-year struggle and "stuck-up" situation. We have to understand one thing; any time you want something high in life the amount of hard work will be the same and location will not change things much. Regarding the travel aspect, if you work hard in Pakistan and build a reputation, no one is going to reject your visa. Most people who complain are people who haven't spent their time taking the hard road (which in Pakistan, and abroad is the same, but if you work really hard in Pakistan you can still get it). Plus, there are local resources you can capitalize on local resources. But all of this begins after you become successful. Yes, the urban quality of life abroad will be far better but that also comes with certain costs. Yes, some other things are also affordable like free education for kids. So, I agree with that aspect. My problem is not with people wanting to move abroad or saying that it is better abroad (yes, you are right) but the APPROACH is wrong and hasty. If you have the right approach you will have chances in Pakistan and also that your chances of tapping overseas opportunities will be higher and easier sitting from Pakistan if you have the RIGHT APPROACH right here from Pakistan. Without the right approach, you will run in circles in the West, and inside will feel not very successful despite the nice roads and buildings. Yes, go overseas if you need the salary, perks, etc. but not without the right approach after putting in a lot of hard work in Pakistan, do all your homework, save accordingly, and then wait for the right opening with the proper company, visa papers, etc.

the best way to go abroad is to go as a student. Try searching for scholarships in European countries or South East Asian (Korea, Japan etc). As a first step, go for IELTS and keep looking for scholarships. Finding employment opportunities by sitting in Pakistan is impossible unless you are in IT and have at least plenty of experience. Secondly, Freelancing is the future. keep hustling and sell your skills on freelance websites.

For the long distance relationship part, I am facing the same issue. I have been in US for 5 years and have applied for my wife in April 2018. Still waiting for the interview which is delayed due to covid. I have applied for the passport and hoping to get it soon and that is when the case status will be changed and the interview will be sooner so I guess it won't take 2 years for the interview process. Also I am not sure about the nature of her husband's job but IT jobs will let you work remotely which I take advantage of and spend much time in Pakistan.

Staying here or abroad is a personal choice I believe. Neither opinion should be shoved down anyone's throat. If you want to move abroad, go and explore. If you are satisfied here, enjoy life. You don't have to keep on struggling for one thing after another. Take a break, relax. This country is not going anywhere, it's here. We're doing alright. If you're earning good, you want to stay? Stay! There's no pear pressure for moving. You want to go? go ahead, give it your best shot.

Even when you're holding a Western passport, you can mostly only VISIT other countries without visas. For working and living there long term, you will need to change or apply for residency permits or different visas etc. The visa-free facility is generally for visits only, not to go there to get job and start working. Either it has to be under some trade/work visa program or need appropriate visa.

Here's my opinion, some may think it's controversial. Take ownership of your own life and destiny. The country doesn't owe you anything. Don't be emotionally absorbed into making life decisions just because you think society wants you to. You don't owe anyone anything. Moving abroad will have pros and cons. No one can make that decision but you. You may get a richer life in terms of money and working flexibility. The environment may be nicer and it may be a better place to raise a family. But there will be times when you'll feel alone, you'll miss your family, you might miss the noise, the food, your old neighbourhood. That's completely normal, allow yourself to adjust to a new environment. The only person you need to satisfy is yourself. Your older self will thank you for the decisions you made, the courageous steps you took when you were younger.

There are 2 types of people 1. People who work hard and come on their own Merritt. They work hard, make money, build a bright future for their wives and children abroad. 2. People that get married to a foreigner and the minute they come they start crying about how much they miss Pakistan. Because they didn’t have to struggle to come here they forget the value. Then the sending money for luxury gifts and cars starts not realizing they are spoiling and raising a generation of future bums who now are not motivated to do anything in life because everything is free. The immigration process begins for the parents and every other member of the family only to keep getting rejected wasting thousands of dollars on immigration and lawyer fees. I would never let my kids marry a guy from Pakistan especially daughter. If he comes here on own merit and they want to marry yes, but never to go there and bring someone. They never appreciate it and cry all their life. Stuck in the 2 different worlds. No peace. No contentment. Just BS.

There's something called a graduate scheme that students need to apply to secure a full time role that'll also sort out your tier 2 visa. Its basically entry-level jobs for fresh uni gaduates... you apply to these schemes in your final year of uni and if you get a 2.1 they give you a full time offer prior to graduation and also sponsor your tier 2 visa. Most International students dont know about this but all major multinational firms have these graduate programs. Although i must admit its extremely competitive due to the fact that tens of 1000's of uni students from dozens of unis in UK apply to these schemes and acceptance rate is 5% or lower than that, especially if your applying to Banking, Finance and legal roles. That being said its possible as I have done it and I know a few others that have as well, although you need to master your communication skills, smash those numerical and verbal reasoning psychometric tests to have an edge over the rest of the crowd. Also as soon as you get into uni, apply to spring weeks in Year 1, Summer internships in Year 2, If you do well in your internship in yr 2, youll get a return offer post graduation meaning you wont even need to apply to the graduate program. I'd say forget all other low skilled jobs i.e takeway, security etc as those wont get you a tier 2 visa sponsoship unless your struggling to cover your living costs and solely focus on improving you intreview and communication skills ands smashing those psychometric tests and apply to as many grad schemes as possible and you'll land a high paying tier 1 job at a reputable firm that'll set you up for greate career opportunities and permanenet settlement and citizenship. Hope this helps!

Hi, I would suggest something. This might take some time but will be worth it. Ask your husband to try and switch to a remote job. There are SOOOO many out there now. I don't understand why his employer not allowing. It's absurd because most businesses allow remote working now here. Once he switches to a remote position, he can come live with you. Rent his place and move to Pakistan. Because he'll be earning in the US, you can even live in Airbnb in Pakistan, that way you won't have to buy furniture and everything. Get an Airbnb close to your house do you can go back and forth. The problem with moving to Dubai is, you will have to find a new job as well

I would like to point out an issue with your answer in the first question (regarding the US immigration process). Like your answer stated, that the husband and wife should meet up in a secondary location like UAE and that if his qualifications allowed him to have a stable job there. That wouldn’t be possible either for the husband or the wife. The petition for the Marriage green card visa had been applied from Pakistan and US by the wife and husband respectively, not only will their application immediately stop or get blocked due to them moving to a different country, even if they tried to file a separate application stating that they are moving to a different country and want to continue their marriage green card application in UAE, it would add approximately 6 months to their wait time EVEN more. You cannot in any way (both husband and wife) even move to different cities let alone a country during the application process unless you file a separate application which HAS to be approved by the US embassy allowing you to move (occasionally they do not get accepted due to trust and security reasons) and this is pretty time consuming and adds to the overall wait time since the whole process is physically mail based (no online process). Secondly, the entire immigration job is based on the husband’s income (and possibly his assets like the house she mentioned), if any of this gets interrupted or sold (like him moving to UAE and getting a new job) this would add additional problems since the earnings of the sponsor HAS to be based in the US, OR have stable earnings flowing remotely (meaning he will receive his earnings regardless of his location i.e remote job). He simply cannot work in a single geographical location outside the US until the whole process comes to an end. My advice would be to wait and file a complaint regarding the wait time since that seems to be the most suitable solution. Or try to get a job that meets the minimum earning threshold which is remote (making sure the earnings are and will be stable by filing an employment contract for 1 or more years while filing taxes properly).

While one should strive to go abroad if they can, but always remember that your prosperity abroad will always be tied to the prosperity of Pakistan. I have seen many Pakistani businesses abroad fail because there were so few new immigrants from Pakistan coming in those countries. On the other hand I have seen many Indian businesses succeed because there were always so many new immigrants coming from India due to the growth of India who would become customers of those businesses. It's a long term way of thinking but in one way or another prosperity of expats is tied in many ways to prosperity of their home countries.
