Over the years, I began to wonder if the main objective, playing this piece, was to go below the 10-minute mark, with supersonic and often grotesque performance speeds. Here is finally an interpretation of this rhapsody for trombone with a lot of sensitivity and especially, tempi adapted to the style and to the remarkable orchestration of Gordon Langford. Congratulations to the soloist, the conductor and the musicians!

Fabulous composition by Langford and brilliantly played, really enjoyed Ian's interpretation and beautifully clear intonation.

Originally written for the trombone maestro Don Lusher. I had the great fortune to play the wind band version of this piece with Don and what a humble, friendly, interesting and funny man. There are some lovely musical terms in the piece especially the 'big' tune marked 'Lusheroso'. This performance by Ian and the band is beautifully played. A great homage to a great man.

Marvellous playing, as always from Ian. It's easy to dismiss the Langford as a brass band 'lollipop' but it's so well written for the trombone and the musical structure is really quite complex.
