To answer some questions: Yes, I'm planning some minor room treatments. All Sony Blu-ray players have had built-in SACD, no conversion required. I haven't looked at latest models. The Epson blanking feature doesn't make the bars black. I also thought they would, but not so. Over the concrete walls is regular 1/2" drywall, studs offset from concrete 2-3", R-13 fiberglass rolls, no fabric walls. Sherwin Williams wall/ceiling color is SW6257 Gilbralter. Light Reflectance Value is around 14. Black is 0; white is 100. Note: In the demo where I remove the left half of the bottom mask, the video was not a good representation. In real-life, the difference is remarkable--it's a must-have item. Same for the carpet, looks ten times better than the video. Thanks for all your kind words.

@@Youthman More than that the little details he described which majority or should I say almost all skip in either implementing(a big fail) or to list down in specs(even if they implemented it). For example him measuring and leaving enough space between the row of seats for people to walk by without causing disturbance to others sitting in reclined position. I bet many don't even do that, and few who even do that simply don't talk about it considering it to be a minor detail. BUT TRUST ME THAT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Fantastic Jon Michael, this was hands down the best Home Theater tour I have ever watched period!! Bruce was amazing during his presentation giving with so much detail and the fireside discussion afterwards was absolutely perfect as it answers questions many of us have. The theater is amazing and Bruce did a fantastic job during the design process so the entire room is seamless. 1 recommendation I wiuls make is some acoustical treatments on the walls and ceiling, 10 seconds into Michaels intro, I could hear the room echo. Doing that will improve your experience 10 fold and Bruce seems pretty handy so he can easily make DIY panels that work amazing and cost peanuts. Other than that, your room is a perfect example of how to build a room properly.

Fantastic room, note the Epson has the blanking feature so you would not need the physical masks to 2.35 but they are pretty nice. Alarm strobe is brilliant. I’d go with an AV rack over the table, and get some acoustic panels and bass traps for future upgrades.

Wouldn’t the blanking still show the gray bars or does it completely stop the light output?
@Youthman

I wasn't sure since I have never owned a 16:9 screen. I use blanking for IMAX enhanced scenes but it's above and below my screen so I wasn't sure if it completely removed the light output or not.

Nice video, great camera work. Really like the colors and yes, you can see a difference in those grey bars. I just swapped my 6050 for a LS12000B and I could recommend it! The color contrast is night and day different, and the brightness is superb, and no more bulbs to swap out. May I suggest a cabinet for the components? You could put those components in 1/3 of the space. That back left corner could be walled in, and look like a mirror to the other side and hide it all. Love the choice in seats.

Awesome screen. To me if you watch TV or sports at all you need a 16x9 screen - having those magnetic masks is a fantastic idea in contrast to some super expensive motorized masking system. I will for sure look into that for my next screen. Interesting how big of screens you have with only sitting 11' away, however that does make sense when you have two rows. My room is only 15' deep so I only have one row of seats, I sit about 12' from the screen and have a 130" screen and that is as big as I'd want to go. Even at that, I sometimes get some motion overload on fast action and heavily edited action (like say the close quarters fights in Jason Bourne movies).

I’ve been following u for quite some time, and love ur channel, enthusiasm, videos, and overall knowledge of the home theater industry. Maybe 1 day I will be on ur level, but for now I have a wife and a budget. I’m happy w my theater for what it is, but as uk. We always want more. I have an Epson 5040ub, w a 130 in CinemaScope ALR screen, 7 Rialto built in riser seats, Onkyo receiver, all Klipsch speakers w 2 112r sw’s. Like I said for now I’m content. We still enjoy watching movies in our basement. What I’m really lacking is all the audio components that make a home theater what every man wants. Well anyway thank u some much for what u do. It was absolutely horrendous. Literally. Color uniformity was terrible. We spent over an hour calibrating it and at the end decided the default settings or just as bad lol. And it’s a projector that people rave over. We will discuss it in the video

Hey Michael, random thought for you. Since you weren't able to do the interviews on the previous home theater tour maybe you could do follow-up recorded Zoom calls or something like that that you could post on your Channel. Probably a lot less production effort and I think would still be good content for us who have followed the tours

Hiey Michael: One thing Bruce's theater DESPARATELY needs is sound treatment as you guys sounded like you were spelunking in there. Maybe you could get him hooked up with GIK and get him set up with the right solution to kill the echo in his theater room and lmprove the sound of his surround sound setup. It would be a HUGE benefit for him and his theater. Not trying to be mean but I think that would be next logical step for his theater, he could get the panels in navy blue contrast or the dark grey to blend in and keep the look the way it is but I personally think that would be the next step for him.
@Youthman
@Youthman 2 жыл бұрын
Of course. We discussed that off camera but I forgot to ask him to share about it on camera.
@alecday3775

@@Youthman I pointed out 2 color options that would work great in there and I hope he goes for the navy to add a little more color to the space as there is a LITTLE TOO MUCH grey in there and I think the navy blue panels would look great in there. Or he could go for a mixture of both colors as well if that would make it to where it is TOO much blue as well but it is good that he has that on his to-do list as it really does need the sound treatment.

Hard to argue against 16:9 ratio with all the great contents coming from TV and Streaming services. Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Squid Games, Money Heist…. and some of the movies shot with IMAX cameras. There are couple of episodes in season 5 of Breaking Bad that is just meant for big screen… and the tug of war episode from squid game.

I think with IMAX Enhanced 16:9 is preferable. I still love 2.35:1 but after watching some movies in IMAX Enhanced on my 2.35:1 screen in 16:9 so when it switches back to IMAX I get the extra top and bottom (but still black bars on the side), I have decided to just keep the 2.35:1 and use blanking to cut off the IMAX Enhanced content but get to use my whole screen.

For many years it didn’t make sense to me either. I thought it was snake oil until I bought some and use them in my room own room. Was my room a waste before I had acoustic panels? Absolutely not. I enjoyed my home theater. But after adding acoustic treatment, I simply now enjoy it even more. A gentleman emailed me just yesterday photos of his theater room. I told him his room looks incredible and asked a simple question if he had ever considered adding acoustic treatment and left it at that. He replied that he did consider it but had not done it yet at which at that point, I told him adding acoustic treatment to the room would help take his sound to the next level and allow him to enjoy his home theater even more than he does now.
