Scary part is there are famous pop singers out there who act like they are playing, in huge sold out arenas, and the audience is buying it

"Doin' a Ken Tamplin" "It's been Tamplined with" One day these are going to be universal English terms for faking, regardless of what you're faking. And one day, no one is going to know why we say it.
What an interesting phenomenon. I guess this is the music community version of editing your instagram photos until you look like your skin is made of marzipan? It’s better to just leave those bum notes in, it doesn’t make you look like you can’t play, it makes you look like you’re actually playing.

Devil's advocate: how is this different than punching in and editing while making an album?
@keithsquawk27 күн бұрын
I guess it's assumed to be a normal part of making an album but claims of 'genuine' when it's clear it ain't is 'cheating'. But then I'd blame Les Paul and his damned double-tracking with speed changes -all his fault. Not as if George Martin was shy of using the razor blade either ;-)
@Rickytbird27 күн бұрын
@@keithsquawk Exactly. And let's not forget George Martin also slowed down the tape to play the keyboard solo on In My Life. So that slow down/speed up trick has been around a long long time as you said. So, I guess I'm not sure what the big deal is. Other than I guess these guys present it as being live and unedited? I dunno. Just thought it was interesting.
@myopicautisticmetal903527 күн бұрын

Funny that a Tamplin video had less than a hundred views and same day he gets ... wait for it ...10,000 subs! I guess just pure luck it wan't 9,999. Apparently Ken is very lucky getting 10,000 subs, on the dot, EVERY month until he reached 1 million subscribers? 😆😅😂

Compression and reverb are not really in the same category as pitch correction. I have to disagree that they can be compared to Autotune or tempo adjustments.
@myopicautisticmetal903527 күн бұрын
He was pointing out that the so called live vocal wasn't compressed with reverb but suddenly when the music starts the vocal you hear is compressed and has reverb.

People are not only faking playing but now there are AI created persons (I use the term persons loosely) playing the guitar where they clearly aren’t real people but they have stolen a person faking playing with a new AI as well! Where’s it going to end?
@MrCoalmin26 күн бұрын
compression and reverb?
@CROSSofIRON-uk28 күн бұрын
The reason is everyone expects 100% perfect playing with studio production...no-one wants to hear genuine one-take recordings. But difficult stuff is really hard to nail in one take, but easy to comp together from a dozen or more takes. Problem is these guys wouldn't be able to come up with the goods live as it is well above their level.

You do know that 90 % of what you hear on the radio or even on media is "fixed" or improved on after the recording? Like it or not, it is the same thing Ken did.I think fans of rock and roll, metal, hard rock do hold their artiest to a higher standard, (at least we refuse to listen to auto-tune) (I know I hate it). That said, we all know the big bands that are lip syncing and we still ignore it, not asking for a refund. I am not saying Ken is guilty or not, I am only saying if Motley Crue does it, well you get it. On another note (no pun) Pop singers and Rappers are far more guilty of this. I really really hate auto-tune. I mean no offense but, Ken has been drug through the mud and paid his price. I think it's time to get off the dog-pile, unless we are ready to hold everyone accountable. And that is a very long list. There is no respect to be gained if you are the 300th person person who wants me to watch the "proof" that some one is lip syncing and the moral high ground is to ruin a mans life. It's boring at this point. Did I mention I hate auto-tune? Well done video, sir.

I don't blame Ken seeing how people are so gullible with the current global evil agenda. He's smart. Makes me think how many youtube musicians fake their stuff like in Jared Dines Shred Collab. To be fair, the best stuff I ever recorded I can't replicate on the spot. Some I had a lot of beer in me, and was playing at my peak with certain licks I was into at the time. Therefore, just by hearing my recordings, people think I'm far better than I'm actually because my recordings were my ultimate best in beast mode.
