Thank you sooo much for making this video. It was exactly what I needed. I am a blind sculptor and my stoic husband smiles and laugh every time I sculpt something lol. He thinks I should do youtube vides but like you said it is a challenge. Especially being blind. This video is awesome because you laid it out so perfectly. Thank you for this video and your encouragement.

You did such a great job with this. I have my own KZbin channel as well, but I have not done anything with it in years. All of the exercise videos were still on the channel and I just appreciate how much work you have put in to this. Thank you.

The tip about lighting/making things visually appealing is REALLY difficult. But it's also 1000 percent understandable. For me it's not so much putting together a video once I have footage, but if I need to conceptualize an idea or feel like I need to draw, that is where things get dicey. Do I buy a 3D asset? Do I try to make something super basic myself? Do I use text? Do I just resign myself to using an example photo? As someone who is undergoing retinoschisis its a factt I wont be able to do this forever with sight. Learning a new skill each time when editing is also super helpful, because I always beat mysel up over not having a formula, like other history creators. The channel History with Hilbert often uses a format where he includes the "Text of Year" talking about, then a little cartoon person meant to represent the time period, then a flag of the nation he is talking about, with maybe a historical painting thrown in there. I want to learn new things, but I also need to find some formula which lightens the stress.
@UnsightlyOpinions
@UnsightlyOpinions Жыл бұрын
Having a formula can definitely help for sure. And boy do I feel you about wanting to put in 1000 effects and cool things for every video but I always need to reign in that little voice and say to myself, there is a way but it isn't today especially if I've already put something new into the works. It can be a challenge not to compare yourself to other creators, but the more videos I create, the more I realize there are 100 ways to do things correctly and no single perfect video in existence. Best of luck on your vision loss journey. :)

Good grief so much stuff to making your videos! I applaud you. I am interested in how you sew. I just purchased self-threading needles and I still have trouble. I can't imagine using a sewing machine. Thank you for all the information on these subjects.
@chrissymorgan1457
@chrissymorgan1457 Жыл бұрын
I actually find it harder to sew with a needle and thread than with my machine. It’s so hard to keep the stitches straight when doing one at a time. If I realize I’ve added an accidental curve when using the machine, I can mark that section with pins and redo it. The hardest parts are realizing the top thread broke or unwinding bobbin thread nests.
@UnsightlyOpinions
@UnsightlyOpinions Жыл бұрын
It can be a lot. I definitely intend to do more sewing videos very soon, and explain a lot more about what I do, but I've got this ancient video that I find is slightly cringy by my current standards that can at least help you get on the way. :) Also I'm with @Chrissy Morgan, sewing by hand is 1000x harder than with a machine. sewing with a machine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWbbl6aFZs2jeNk sewing by hand: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIXVn31qbZeEi68

@@UnsightlyOpinions Can you do a beginners level tutorial for Magic Keyboard use with iPads? I got the standalone Magic Keyboard, and found out that the hot keys are different from a Mac. I’m self training to someday get a Mac, and I cannot find a beginners tutorial on KZbin for voiceover users. Thank you.

Good timing as always! I’ve been thinking about starting a channel to document turning my urban yard into a functioning homestead as a disabled person, but seeing you lay out all the steps, I don’t think I have time! Maybe I’ll film and save the video for editing & publishing once I can’t work full time anymore.

It is an incredible time-sync and very difficult to do when you are working, I will not lie. But your idea sounds absolutely incredible. I can't wait to see what content you put out. Accessible homesteading is something I've been curious about for years!

On Windows, OBS is a free and reasonably accessible video recorder and editor, both for recording and live streaming. I also believe that reaper, which has myriad accessible add-ons for screen readers, also has a video component, though it has a rather steep learning curve. If you want to take that road, Brian Hartgen in the UK has a very comprehensive paid course called 'Reaping the Benefits'. It may also be worth looking for some email lists which are generally full of people only too happy to assist.

@@kyleethekelt hey hey thanks for replying i know OBS from my days of vision it seemed pretty complex even then lol so i never revisited. and yes i believe going that rout would take some getting used to right now whats working for me on the audio front is audacity for recording and processing with just single compressor plugin ng then making the cuts and edits in aunio lab on android i find it simple and easy to use phew that said i will try bumping my head in OBS thanks for the comprehenssive reply

Thank you so much for this great content it truly is applicable to not only blind and disabled such as you and I but it is also applicable to those who are starting their KZbin channels. I have been working on getting some videos put together for her KZbin channel and I think this advice is going to help me a lot Question have you collaborated with other KZbinrs on how they’re working and doing their video editing just a question if so, who’s been so helpful for you

Juan Alcazar formerly JC5 Productions did a collab last year talking about both blind and low vision editing/filming. I think it was very educational. I have a sighted partner Robbie and some awesome friends who have helped out here and there, mostly where I'm asking for feedback on how the visuals work for sighted users since I'm less aware of what others are doing these days. If you want to check out a low vision creator I'd definitely say to check out Juan's Chanel. The collab video is in the description for this video. :)

Hi, and thank you for your videos! Very informative and interesting! As other people have said, this is timely. i have invested in a gimbal, Hohem M6 iSteady. It has an AI device with light, which can keep you in frame, even when you move. i thought this might help with some of the visuals, I don't have light perception, so, am hoping to be able to video myself in some sort ofwatchable way. Have you tried anything like this gimbal and if so, what did you think of it? Thanks again, it is all much appreciated! Sandy in Ireland. 19:09

Hi Sandy, Lovely to make your acquaintance. Thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I do use a gimbal for moving shots, It's something that is relatively new for me and mine isn't anything special. Let me know how you find the M6 works out for you. I'm always eager to improve and find better solutions. :)

I REALLY LOVE this video Tamara! I started slowly and took a long time to get to where I am today! I use my iPhone 11 and edit my videos consistently too all by myself with My Low Vision too! (It’s easy and convenient for me. As well as the ring lights and phone tripods I have too.) There’s a lot of exciting content coming out specifically over the Summer, on this channel one and My other, which is in my “About” section. I’m now on Facebook too, as of late January! (There’s things people will get to see that was behind the scenes of an In-School model Project SEARCH program at a local Chicagoland Hospital that’ll be shared on my pages publicly, when My Visually Impaired Twin Brother and I are done with School/Transition and receive Our High School Diplomas, after accepting a paid job in our local home 🏡 community in May! 5 Days before our 22nd birthdays!) Sorry, I talk a lot, ha ha! I’m going to share this with people, thank you! ❤ 😀🐾🦮🛗
