KZbin recently invited a lot of creators to their KZbin Brand Connect program which resulted in me getting requests for this video. Brand Connect is a way for creators to make money through brand deals but there is some important information you should know about BEFORE you decide to participate.

hi nick! I'm curious what happens to rights to our videos when we remove them or put them on private. I started out using youtube a lot like my old MySpace account. then started to redesign it by trimming it all down to get back to my original vision...but i saw someone mirroring my videos and character assassinating me on another MONETIZED channel...very glad my own channel didn't go over 1000 subs yet for these and other reasons ...there is so much u cover about brand connect here that I'm going to review it a couple more times thankfully i signed no such contractprior to learning about this from your video here. thx so much for helping people out!!

This seems like a cool option at first glance but after hearing the details of the fine print I would not choose this option to navigate brand deals if I return to creating content here in the future, as much as I respect and appreciate the opportunity KZbin provides, brand connect sounds like a bad contract which could leave an unware creator blindsided due to unknowingly breaking one of the rules, and or giving too much control of channel content to brands, scary. thanks for explaining the details Nick ❤

Thanks for the video, Nick. I have been very cautious and nervous when navigating deals with sponsors. It not always easy to know if I'm dealing with legitimate agencies. I don't hate the idea of this new option on youtube, so hopefully they can filter out the scammers and protect the creators.

Ref 8:40, "Google may remove you from the platform"... What does "platform" mean exactly? Are we talking about the "BrandConnect" platform or is this broader in scope to encompass the entire KZbin Channel? It there a way to terminate participation in BrandConnect after one agrees to the terms?

In this case, BrandConnect is the platform. Not sure on the terminating the agreement. Their documentation does not discuss that at all.

The part I find most scary is if you have 3 campaigns reject your content and then Google can shut down your entire KZbin channel. I've been on here since 2007 and to have my account shut down because potential brand content I create might be rejected is a very scary idea to me. We all have different ideas on what content should be and for an advertiser to have that much control over your KZbin business is just crazy to me. Any suggestions on this point Nick? I truly appreciate all you do to keep us all safe and prosperous here on KZbin. Big hugs

Just to clarify, when they say "platform" in their T&Cs, they are meaning the Brand Connect program, not KZbin. You won't lose your channel, just the ability to use Brand Connect.

I am not sure. The ideal would be to work that into your negotiations/contract. I think in most cases with brand deals whether the video in question is monetized or not is not a factor. In some rare cases a brand might even prefer for ads to be turned off for the sponsored content.

I'm not sure if you'll see this but brands like working with what they call "micro influencers" due to them usually having stronger relationships with their tight nit communities.

Thanks very much for the video - it was very useful as I have just signed up. I noted in your video that payment was made by KZbin, and this was clearly apparent in the terms you mentioned and showed. However, for me, located in the UK, it appears that payment is made directly by the brand. For me this is a shame because I want to focus on creating, and not paperwork and invoicing brands in countries all around the world, and also run the risk of brands not paying or paying late. Do you know any more about why the terms and process seem to have changed?

No. If you don't follow up at all for 3 offers or the brands deny what you created 3 times then you might lose access to brand connect but your channel will still be fine.

Damn your video helped, even though I already signed up for brandconnect lol. 😅 Well I have a few questions...if you could answer them... Well my channel is basically a meme based channel. But at the same time I like to do longer videos ranging from 2 minutes to 10 minutes. Now as you said "I shall have permission for whatever content like music and others I use," so as a meme creator, I need to put sound effects in my videos. So is it safe? Well if I get a brand who wants me to make a sponsorship video, and If I do it in this way like I make a long video of 10 minutes and in the middle of the video for 1 to 2 minutes I talk about the sponsored product would it work. Also as I mentioned I need to use Meme sound effects in my videos, so what if I don't use them in this particular sponsored product section and use it in the rest of the video? Would it be okhay? Sorry to disturb you, but could you pls take your time and answer these questions?

If your having issues with copyright, I'd deal with that because its detrimental to stream and use copyrighted content. After the stream, you can choose to leave them up or unlist them. note that unlisted streams will still get matched if there are any copyright issues detected.

Hey Nick, I have a question for you. I have over 200,000 subs, but I only get about 2,000 views per video when I post a new video. Do you know why I’m not getting more views? Are my videos being hidden from my audience?

No, they are not being hidden. It is more than likely that your audience isn't responding in the same way they used to - and that can be any number of things like topic, timing but most often it can be packaging. In your case, I think packaging is a factor, particularly your recent series of thumbnails looking a whole lot like each other. Particularly for the casual viewer, if one of those thumbnails showed up in browse or suggested because they recently watched a video of yours, they may not click if there is any doubt about if they have watched it already due to the similar visuals. It may also be that you've milked that format dry with daily content in the discipleship series. As always, test and compare.
