Yep, if you can find a rare 5-Speed Versa, you can get them cheaper than a base Mirage IIRC. And, assuming the price is comparable, I'd take the Versa all day over the Mirage. The added power and refinement, the safety tech, everything seems leagues better than the Mirage. With that being said, I love getting Mirages as rental cars if I can because i love wringing the absolute shit out of them for the entire rental period. As for the tires, yep the Versa 15's are cheaper than the Mirage 14's. You can get the Versa size all day on clearance from Tirerack or similar for like ~$59-69/tire if you can wait for a sale, and those are for decent name brand tires. The 14's on the Mirage on the low end are closer to ~$90-105/tire.

@amirraz1882 it was due to a big batch of longblocks with bad machining of cyl 3 rod. Excessive clearance. First engine started knocking around 700 miles. New longblock was installed at 3000 miles. It would've even start due to the wrong camshafts being installed at the factory. I swear I'm not lying. So they had to order another and do the whole swap again. I actually bought a brand-new Nissan Versa - in 2007, the first year they were offered in the US. Back in January of 2007, my car was optioned similar to the current entry-level Versa, and it cost me all of $18,000 as I recall; this was nearly 20 years ago! My car was a "Magnetic Grey" SL hatch, with CVT (before we all knew they were terrible transmissions). The thing is, if Nissan is STILL offering a very similar vehicle in 2024 at only a few thousand dollars more (when comparing apples to apples), this is kind of a "glitch" in the "inflation matrix," making this current car an absolute BARGAIN when compared to other vehicles. The fact that you can STILL buy a manual is not only incredible, but it's also the better choice. My Versa actually gave me 60,000 trouble-free miles before I upgraded to a Murano (BIG mistake), and was actually a decent car overall, even for its time.

I also experienced a blind spot monitoring fault and air bag fault in the 3 weeks it was in my possession. I have never been happier to never see a car again when I turned it in. Great video! My car was among the cheapest too; I have a 2017 Nissan Sentra S, bought it new for $18,640 (not inc. tax or title). 62 months later (paid a 72 month loan early) in Dec. 2023 it was paid for. At 58,000, I went to Nissan for an oil change and without asking, they offered to replace my CVT and give me an Altima for a week, all under warranty. Not looking a gift horse, I accepted and did not ask why, I went with it before they could change their minds. Being an auto detailer, it still looks new and I've only had it serviced at the dealer and it has 69,000 as of 11/2024. The newer ones (not the newest) look nearly identical and from a reasonable distance, even I cannot tell them apart. I had a 2015 before, but this time I saw no reason to upgrade. When you upgrade one of these, you're not really upgrading anything, just getting a newer model and the inside of the 15 and 17 are exactly the same with no changes at all. This Mirage is a lot like mine inside. Well, maybe a little cheaper looking (if that's possible) with a so short hood, tiny wheels and loud as hell. It looks like a lawn mower engine or something under that tiny hood. The head unit is impressive; I agree. Mine has a 1.8L 6cyl with a whopping 129hp and it goes 0-60 in about 3 hours and 10 minutes. You have to be careful merging, turning right on red, and you must not pass with it unless you have at least 2 unobstructed straight miles. Passing a 18 wheeler truck is forbidden and not possible. When you park (to save your CVT), you must stop, keep your foot on the brake, engage the parking brake, and then put it into park. You can put it into park first, but you must engage the parking brake before you take your foot off the foot brake. If you don't and let it slide without using the parking brake like everyone usually does, you will eventually wear out the CVT. It's not just driving it that does it; it's also parking it. My car now paying me back for buying it. Every month now it's like free money! I put in a head unit for $500 because the AM/FM/CD that was in it had a bad display. To replace it with an OEM model would be $1,700 and would be old tech. I paid extra so the steering wheel controls would work with it. To get that feature (and push start) at the time it was new, you'd also have to get heated seats and mirrors for $3,000. I live in central Florida and would never use that or the car heater for that matter. I decided not to buy something I wanted, if I were forced to buy something I didn't, and cost was an issue. I've also since upgraded all the halogen lights to LEDs. Although it's not loud, I'm soundproofing it with Killmat. I've flushed the oil, changed out 2 rotos and brakes for those. I doubt if averaged, I've spent more than $20 a month in maintenance. My payment was $307 and I paid $325 to pay it off early. I could say I paid $350 a month total for everything, which now I don't. In the last 3 months, my car cost me $9.95 oil change at the dealer and a few tanks of gas; less that $60 I'd say. I ride in pretty good style for $20 a month! They haven't gone up a great deal, but the used ones are nearly the price of what I paid for mine, so getting a new one doesn't make sense. Buying a used anything with a CVT is out of the question. Plus, when you live 8 months without a car payment, you think twice about incurring another one anytime soon. The freedom is incredible.

You don't even need a sensor, that's how offensive it is. If manufacturers wanted to be cheap and lazy all they have to do is make it like my 96 Volvo wagon (the car is on, the lights do what you set them to do, the car is off, the lights do what you set them to do- meaning you can turn us your lights once and never think about it again since they turn off when the car turns off). This literally costs no extra money and it's truly baffling that this isn't standard.

As a tow truck driver i can tell you you didn't get that car for $20,000, because when the trans goes a few times before 100K, it'll come out to more like $27 - $30,000. Nissan, Honda, GM, Subaru and Kia's CVTs have payed the bills here time and time again. People would save money in the long run if they just buy a Prius, Kia/hyundai DCTs we don't get toooo often, they like to go out around 160 - 200K but are cheap and easy to replace. Mazda's hardly ever come through here. Even the new Jetta's with the 91ci engine we don't see that much. But anything with a CVT will fail and well before any other transmission. Nissan, Honda and Toyota use a belt type CVT that you can't do anything in maintenance to prevent from failing, but Kia/hyundai, Subaru and latter GMs have a chain type CVT and if you change the fluid every 5 to 10k miles, we have seen them on average last a bit longer, but nobody does that or will argue you to death that "the dealer knows best" news flash!!! THEY DON'T!!! Pay a little bit more for something with a regular transmission or a Ecvt in the prius (never see those go bad or really any Ecvt trans) accept for Ford or any euro hybrid car, they're still having alot of issues.

I saw this Versa Note at Belmount park in Riverside. It was bright orange and it sort of looked in theory like the tall Civic wagon, if it were made in 2012. It had custom wheels, tint. It looked passable for a tuner car imposter for a Honda meet.

in order to put the auto light feature on the car you must have a better glass tolerance on the are of the light sensor which is quite expansive, you need a CAN protocol and space to comunicate with the switch. The most expansive part is really the windshield. It makes it more expansive by 10 - 20 dollars plus the sensor which is around 5 dollars a different switch which increases the BOM (Bill of Materials) number. It is not that simple as people think.

I have the 2024 Versa S Manual and it is a great commuter car. MSRP was $18,040 and $19,000 out the door. I added the factory painted rear decklid spoiler, 17" Nissan Kicks wheels and 215/50HR17 all-season tires. I installed the factory LED driving lights and converted the headlights to LED as well. I bought mine January 3rd, 2024 and have 21,500 miles on it. I average 36mpg combined city/highway for my 104 mile daily commute. I do have two complaints: The radio freaks out and looses Bluetooth connectivity at times and if you stall the engine the car goes into limp-home, reduced-power mode until you cycle the ignition. There is no indication and no check engine light. NTHS is investigating this issue. Due to knee replacement, stop and go clutch action is now uncomfortable for me. I ordered a 2025 FORD Maverick Hybrid AWD Lariat with the 4k tow package. I'll be selling my clean and dent-free Versa very soon.

Weird, my Mitsubishi Mirage has a leach for the fuel cap, as well as a holder. Also the Mitsubishi does have auto high beams on the highest trim level, which is $20,000, the same price as the base Versa. In the top trim level, you get nicer seats that are heated with an arm rest, nicer looking dash, nicer (still basic) gauge cluster, auto wipers, auto lights, auto high beams, LED's all around the car, push button start, remote start, lane keep monitoring, fog lights, alloy wheels, 15 inch tires, turn signal on mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel, leather wrapped shift knob, and probably more that I'm missing. So for $2,000 you do gain a lot more in the Mirage, which makes it similar to the Versa S. A common upgrade to the Mirage, sometimes even the dealer adds it, is a rockford fosgate system. Not sure exactly how good it is, I just know it's an option.

My wife has the 2010 version of the Versa - known as the Tiida in Australia. Probably almost identical to the 2024 model. Also made in Thailand I believe. Edit, after watching the video, not identical. The 1.6 in that new car is smaller but easier to work on than the Tiida which is a 1.8 but you have to remove the intake manifold to get at the coil packs and spark plugs.

I currently own a 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium and absolutely love it. Its a loaded top trim with Premium Package and has push start, remote start, keyless access, 360 cameras, larger 8 inch touch screen, adaptive cruise, LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, auto headlights, LED fog lights, gray-black-orange primatex leatherette seating, 8 speak Bose audio system with driver seat headrest speakers, parking sensors, 7 inch digital gauge cluster screen with like 25 option screens and ability to add more than comes active in the menus, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with haptic steering wheel, auto high beams, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, traction control, stability control, abs, dynamic module on SR with active trace control-active engine braking and ride assist, Nissan Connect app with SOS Button, Apple Car Play, Android Auto, Sirius XM, security system, 17 inch 2 tone alloy wheels, lighted sun visors with sliding sun blockers and so much more. The 2018-2024 Nissan Kicks is essentially a 2020-2025 Nissan Versa on stilts in hatch form and in my opinion is more of a CUV than and SUV. They also both share the same 1.6L 4 cylinder naturally aspirated engine with 122 hrsp and 114 lb ft of torque but earlier versions of the Kicks 2018-2019 had 125 hrsp and 115 lb ft of torque Now the redesigned 2025 Nissan Kicks offers AWD and is more of a true SUV and now comes with the Sentras larger 2.0L 4 cylinder engine. They are great vehicles the Versa and Kicks both. I also owned 3 Mirages. First was a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES Hatch top trim (trims were DE and ES for the 2014-2015 year) with the Navigation Touch Screen and Back Up Camera Package. Then traded it on a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 SE Sedan top trim. Then last was my 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE Hatch top trim. All 3 were CVT equipped and never had 1 issue with any of the 3 and man dis they get amazing hybrid level MPGs. I purchased each one brand new. I absolutely loved them. They are great cars and so user friendly, amazing on gas, reliable, feature packed, have a long warranty, plus a very reliable naturally aspirated 3 cylinder engine that runs and runs. You can look that up online the 414,000 mile Mirage. The last of its kind. Sad. My 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage SE Hatch top trim was so loaded it had push button start, premium multicolor back lit gauges, nice 7 inch touch screen with apple car play and android auto, automatic digital climate control, wide angle back up camera with guide lines, keyless access with buttons on drivers door exterior and hatch exterior, remote start by Mitsubishi key fob, heated front seats, leatherette and plaid seating surfaces, cloth covered front door panels and cloth covered front door armrests, LED projector headlights, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, fog lights, 15 inch 2 tone alloy wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, upgraded piano black and chrome trimmed steering wheel and gear shift panel, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, auto high beams, stability and traction control with ABS, power windows, locks and mirrors, led turn signals in the exterior mirrors, fold down driver seat armrest, and so much more. It was so well equipped for a $19,700.00 MSRP. The Mirages truly are the last car left you can get into out the door tax title tags and all for under $20,000.00 as even the Nissan Veras are higher in price with base models even going for over $20,000.00 on lots and online its hard to find deals like you can with the Mirage. If you look at a Versa go for the top trim Versa SR for under $22,000.00 its a steal and the best deal on the road in my opinion for all the loaded features, great sport looks, and so many upgrades and cannot be beat for all the features you get. Going from the mid trim Versa SV to the top trim Versa SR is like around $700.00 more and you get LED headlights, LED DRLs, larger 8 inch touch screen, adaptive cruise control, nicer seat material, remote start, rear spoiler, 17 inch 2 tone alloy wheels, automatic climate control, leather wrapper steering wheel and shift knob, Nissan Connect and SOS button and more. Trust me if you look at a Versa SV do yourself a favor and pay that extra $700.00 or so and get the top trim SR to get all those features above for such a small amount. I currently own a 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium like I mentioned that I purchased new 1 year ago. I really do love it. Do not let the Jatco produced CVT scare you away as Mitsubishi and Nissan both use the same Jatco CVTs. For example the Versa and Mirage use the same Jatco CVT 7 Transmission with different tuning for each manufacturer. Its a pretty good CVT that has been out now for years in the Mirage and has proven to be reliable if taken care of and maintained. Yes there were issue in the past. But since 2015 we have owned 6 Mitsubishis with Jatco CVTs and now this Nissan with a Jatco CVT and not one issue with any of them. We also still own our 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL Touring S-AWC that we purchased new 5 years ago in October 2019 and it has a Jatco CVT as well and we have had no issues. My brother owns a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE 2.4 he purchased used like 4 years ago with 46,000 miles and now it has like 75,000 miles and again no issues with its CVT. My Dad owns a 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE S-AWC he purchased new as a left over in April 2021 and got $7,000.00 off the MSRP and it was brand new. Its all in how you take care of the vehicle and doing transmission fluid flushes every 30,000 miles and it will run a long time. Look up the 414,000 mile 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage still running on its original CVT. Sure there will a problem here and there like there are with every car and transmission but the Jatco CVT is worlds above what they were generations ago and now driving a geared automatic feels abnormal to me and rough and a CVT feels normal and smooth lol.

It's funny that base NA engines like this 1.6 make about the same power they did 30 years ago while all the other engines' power has skyrocketed
@bbishoppcm24 күн бұрын
Well, not that surprising - the 1.6 is non-turbo, port injected, with only VVT. What you gain is an engine with less complexity, less cost, and (theoretically) less problems down the road. When you start tacking on modern technology (turbos, direct injection, higher compression, etc), you end up with more power - but an engine that is done in less than 100,000 miles.
@oldtwinsna83477 күн бұрын
Not really. Take the 1991 Sentra 1.6, which made 110hp and 108 lb-ft torque. This Versa's 1.6 makes 122hp and 114 lb-ft. And that's with pollution control standards today that couldn't be dreamed of back then without severely compromising power further (would've been like 99hp with today's mandated standards)

I live in South FL, and here's what's going on here. The Mitsubishi most expensive "Black" edition is going for 19k. The upper trims and bases are starting between $17,900 and up. It already has a 10yr warranty etc etc but the DEALERS are actually selling these like a they do a Certified Pre-owned. Which means, one dealer I went to gave you 2 years of maintenance which included ALL interval maintenance. Another dealer added another 10 YEARS on top of the 10 year Warranty. 20 years 200k miles!. At first, I didn't believe it, but he showed me the actual warranty contract of 10 years of extended factory warranty. Also, my coworker bought 2 Nissan Versas the same day, one for his stepdaughter and one for the mother. The mothers Versa is on its second transmission with only 40 something thousand miles. The daughters car is fine but who knows for how long, it's a NISSAN.
