Roberto, I truly believe that KZbin is making this move looking for alignment to Reels and TikTok - that is, to make sure people spend as much time in the Shorts feed as possible. If illegitimate links were really such a major problem, they would have been removed across the board. It doesn’t make any sense to remove them only from vertical videos and penalize creators who have been focusing on the video format that coincidentally has been pushed the most by KZbin itself! 😕

BINGO. Finally someone gets it. Not only that but they are REPLACING our affiliate links with their own. I use a ton of Amazon links in my shorts. KZbin combatted that by creating an affiliate market place that only uses stores that give kickbacks to KZbin. They are taking a piece of the pie.

I think creators really need to get together & the petition or individually, on a mass scale, bug KZbin about fixing the issue themselves when making a change like this. Instead of having creators manually change past videos, KZbin either needs to create a bulk change tool or do something on the backend themselves.

I don’t know that any type of “collective bargaining” approach will work with the platform if I’m being honest. And creators won’t boycott and can’t afford to and it won’t work since people will just watch whatever. So unless there is advertiser pressure there is no leverage

I am not a Shorts creator, but I believe KZbin could have dealt with the fraud issue in a way without greatly inconveniencing the creators. 🤕 KZbin could have simply deleted spam accounts or accounts acting abnormal. 👾 They have the technical expertise, but refuse to use it in a beneficial way, and would rather just hurt good people and bad actors simultaneously. 💀 Could have been a lot worse though. 😐 At least the regular videos are left alone. 😶

They don't even pay long form creators well. Shorts and affiliate links were the only way we started to make any money. We could make short quick videos showcasing how we used various outdoors products and have link in comments. KZbin killed our niche. Outdoor creators have poor CPMs and so affiliate links are the only way we make serious money to scale up. Other social media platforms are looking way more appealing now. @@CalvinMcDonald13

Oh, wow, that's amazing. I found it quite odd when I created a new KZbin channel and tried to add a link in a regular video. KZbin actually asked me to provide my Government ID or film my face with my camera, so they could verify my identity. It's a real shame that some folks are spamming so much that it's leading to this kind of regulation. As always, thanks for sharing this information on your channel.

They would remove links from standard videos if they could, they don't want you leaving. They want you passively trapped in an endless dopamine loop. They are testing the waters, Shorts is still "new" and change is expected. When they find a way to nerf your links in standard videos without too much backlash, they'll do it. or they put a super-high minimum sub count to allow links. I prefer the past vision of the future, the real future sucks 😊

Since not everyone will view more of the description but they all can see that banner (not sure if that will be viewable from individual videos too, but still) I intend to include all current links (Twitter, website, etc) but also playlists that I often include in the description, and maybe my alt channel too. Or on the alt channel, include my main channel. I will still include my ,inks in the shorts descriptions, even if they are not clickable. If someone clicked to see that, they can still copy and paste it.

KZbin affiliate shop program is totally crap...the products are not interesting to my viewers! KZbin needs to bring back clickable links in order to keep diverse content creators on the platform...PERIOD. Affiliate links via videos was the only way many of us outdoors niche creators made any money. I'm starting to increase posts to other social media platforms. Might stop content on KZbin all together if this is how they plan to treat creators. THEY HAD other alternatives. They could have implemented link reporting tools or Ai reported link learning tools to blacklist links. They instead wanted to ban links from shorts to keep users on the platform. It had nothing to do with safety. They are full of BS. I dedicated most of my life to KZbin as a career. I feel shit on.

You can Still do shorts with long form video and have that link to long form video that will be thing it coming in end of September so you click the title in short and it will take you to the long form video .

@KZbin *you need to bring back links in Shorts. Been on platform since 2013. My viewers hate this shorts policy because they can't find products in my videos.* Not to mention I now instantly make no money which is total BS. I feel cheated and my viewers are being cheated by this policy. KZbin is nothing without content creators and channels in my genre get paid poorly via Adsense....so affiliate links are our primary means of income! KZbin just didn't want people leaving KZbin to go to links. It wasn't done for safety. KZbin could have implemented link reporting and ai - algorithm link learning to reduce spam.

Nice video! It seems pretty reasonable considering the chance for scam links when the actual link text isn't shown. The click-able new profile link on desktop is great. That should help creators get a bit more traffic to those links. This is how I noticed changes coming and look around for more info. Being able to link a full video from a Short will be a welcome feature. Looking forward to that. I already make long form horizontal videos where the Short is a cut or with a bit more content added. Though, I find it odd they can't still include some Shorts links by having it fully shown. Seems a bit heavy handed and more of an interface design issue. The new internal product linking feature has a 25k subscribers requirement, which I don't think I'd reach for a long time. It look me 11 years to get to 10k, so hopefully they eventually lower that requirement. I think a lot of product review content doesn't naturally mesh well with the idea of people subscribing because a lot of the time people come from search and only want that one thing.

I don't use site for finance but rather research mainly but was going to start posting video content with drones to draw people to my social network and then my banner links disappeared like a bad omen. So, it's happening now. This site is a service, so you don't like the changes just go elsewhere. I'm on the fence with this. On one hand, some channels thrive on shorts alone and don't want to make or can't make long form content, so count on the links in the descriptions. BUT, on the other hand, personally, when I'm scrolling through shorts, It's just watch, scroll, watch, scroll. I'm never stopping to read descriptions. Mostly only comments if I want to. On mobile, you have to hold down to read the description, so....anh, idk. I feel it's a bad change for those who focus on primarily shorts, but for viewers and those who don't primarily focus on shorts, it's not terrible. In the end, I'd prefer it not happen, but....again, I don't know. I have no say Edit: I made it to the part with the removal of banner links....again, I'd prefer it not happen, but I kind of get why, with scam links. I mean, you can still put links in your about section and long form video descriptions...also, you can just put your social handles or websites on the banner itself. I know many do that.
