I have to say that mine is failing. 370 videos and only 2700 subs. $CPM is going down not up. Then again, I can't be full time, only 5-7 hours/week, so maybe this was the best it could be. I am monetized, but that doesn't cover even the cost of the Envato Elements. I only continue because I like doing it. A few hundred people watch each video, 98% upvote ratio, about 10 comments praising my work. So I continue on.

What do you think made the difference?
@ELJefeReviews Жыл бұрын
Roberto dropping facts as usual! KZbin is a difficult platform but hard work and dedication can take you far. Especially if you're open to learning and improving with each video you create. Not to mention being able to accept responsibility when a video fails. Blaming the algorithm gets you nowhere.
@PurposedLensPhotoMedia Жыл бұрын
I agree with you! I am also learning that the TOP creators out there aren't necessarily the BEST! Take Roberto for instance, he drops gems ALL THE TIME (by himself!) that are MUCH more in depth and practical (in my opinion), yet there are MANY other KZbinrs that are larger with more views. The size and view count of a channel does not dictate the VALUE of the PERSON however, the size of a channel and it's view count do dictate it's value to KZbin (The Company). I think this is an IMPORTANT distinction to make and grasp/learn. To be KZbin successful one MUST "play the game". To reach one's full potential, one just needs to be true to his or her purpose and capabilities. (which is what Roberto does on KZbin and OUTSIDE of KZbin.) Roberto teaches how to balance the two equally so that you can get results from both sides of the spectrum. Personally I find that my videos that "FAIL" are the one's I REALLY enjoy making! The one's that succeed are the one's I MUST make to be relevant on this platform. So I plan on making 1 video a month for me and the other for KZbin. Great comment!

And that's the thing, my niche might keep me small right now, but engagement is amazing. THAT is worth so much to me. Great video, esp about focusing on the first 8 secs - which I’m really trying to improve. I will always remember back in 2021 when we were running a Clubhouse room. There was a wannabe comedian getting defensive about your advice. He said, “I don’t think it’s fair for you to judge me on the initial 15 secs!!” You simply responded, “that short window is ALL we have!!!”
@RobertoBlake Жыл бұрын
I remember that. I think a lot of people have their emotions tied up in validation, especially aspiring entertainers… Fair has nothing to do with attention you want from other people…

You're so right about reaction videos. I generally detest react videos because it's just some personality who's watching video on TikTok and they just go "Wow!" or "No way!" and all they do is make a series of facial expression and funny remarks. I learn absolutely nothing new, and there's nothing to take away about the video other than it's trending on TikTok. I do enjoy watching "Expert reacts to" or "Professional reacts to" videos. Whenever I watch a lawyer react to Better Call Saul, or U.S. Air Force pilot reacts to Top Gun, or former mobster reacts to The Sopranos, I get to learn from their perspective how Hollywood portrays their profession. I get to learn from their personal experiences in the field and how accurate the characters and story are depicted and what did Hollywood get right or wrong. I also enjoy debunking videos. Not everything you see on TikTok is true or good advice. I love it when an auto mechanic rips apart bad advice on repairing cars, or when a chef has to explain that there's a better way to cook this meal, or when a tech expert has to point out that this video is just giving worthless advice and is trying to sell you a product.

I have 5k subs (took me five years) but I tend to make 1k views per video. If I put 100% effort into my channel, I will have 10k subs in a couple more years! A play button is a future dream 😃

Did you delete old videos? I can’t find a video in the channel with over 20K views? Edit: oh I see it, you grew with SHORTS! Your shorts videos pull but you’re having a hard time transitioning to long form!

@@RobertoBlake Yes. My shorts built my channel but when I tried to transition to long form content I threw the whole page out of whack and my shorts starting recording less than 1k views

I saw this guy many years ago and said to myself "he's never going to make it on KZbin. He's too soft-spoken." LOL! Turns out I was the one who didn't make it on KZbin! Congrats for sticking with it and getting a half a million subscribers! PS - I saw you on that commercial! That's what made me look for your channel again. I would give you some advice to make a motivational video, but what the heck do I know.😆

I have 22k subs, am monetised, and i've been doing KZbin properly since 2015, it is an insane amount of work, and i've posted over 3k videos during that time period as i upload content almost daily. My channel growth is a lot slower now, but i've improved my techniques over time, and i will continue to give it my all.

I rarely click on these videos because they all say the same thing. This was by far the best video for struggling channels or new KZbin channels. I love the stats you give at the beginning! The entire video is informative.

Thank you. I know many creators are tired of hearing the same things. I think fundamentals matter. But also there are things people aren’t talking about that need to be put out there and that is my current focus. Filling in those gaps.

Thumbnails, my one weakness. What a world, what a world! fr, though, a lot of this is stuff I've been doing, a lot of this is very good advice I'll certainly take to heart. Thank you for this video! Also, speaking of distasteful tactics, I absolutely detest red arrows in thumbnails, especially when they're accompanied by a red circle around something.
