Not for their reasons but calling the cops as a prank is infinitely worse than messing with someone by disappearing after getting their attention. One is a finable offense ensured by the government, the other is a punchable offense under subjective views (my own). @@brianlevine249 It is a matter of 'worse or better' when the difference is between breaking the law (which the old man did if this was indeed a prank) and not breaking the law (which the kid didn't because a single tap on the shoulder isn't against the law). I don't know that I can explain to some one why prank calling the cops shouldn't be done, I'm ill equipped to explain real life to children in productive manner. Both were jerks for different reasons. If you ever have to wait for the cops to show up to your emergency try to remember this video, it could help explain your question better.

I got sued by someone who made up a story about me hitting their car (in reality he ripped my windshield wiper off and the police charged him for destruction of property). Anyway, despite all this, he was still able to make up a story and haul me before a judge. All the while the courts were treating me like a criminal cause they only had his claim to go on. I brought the police report for the night in question and the judge tossed the entire thing out after screaming at us for a half hour. All this over a totally made up story. Win or not, it was stressful and exhausting.

I was playing Yakuza 6 the other day and there was a sidequest where a youtube prankster was doing idiotic things for content and ended up being held upside down from a third story window by a yakuza guy, begging for his life. You promise to help him if he promises to delete his channel and the youtuber agrees but by the time you get up there the yakuza has already pulled the dude inside and apologizes for bothering you. The youtuber starts cackling and talking about getting so many views and when you remind him of his promise he says hell no. So you then beat the shit out of him together with the yakuza guy and you can even use his own selfie stick to beat him. Best side quest ever!

I'm surprised no one ever corrected you even after getting over 170 likes, but it's up to the cops for criminal charges. The old man can file a civil suit but there wouldn't be a misdemeanor. It's not like the cops will arrest him just because the guy wants them to. Most likely all that happened is the police took down a report of the incident and everyone went on their own way. Highly, highly doubt the old man ever followed up on that civil case when he realized that the kid is not getting arrested, he'd likely have to get a lawyer that would actually take the case, and no one would take a case like this without getting paid upfront because a judge is very likely to throw it out as soon as he sees it. Most people don't actually understand the difference between civil and criminal proceedings. This going to court would be a waste of everyone's time and someone's money.

Unless you've got a really valid reason to *Lightly* touch someone in an *appropriate* spot, it can be decided by a judge whom might decide either way. Stuck in a mosh pit? It's expected to have contact. Stuck behind people and need to pass? A very light tap on the shoulder and motioning as you pass through is fine *if they're distracted.* Why is this important? Working Sec can be a hazard on its own, and you don't want to be your own worst enemy by getting caught on camera while doing something inappropriate, and it can be *very difficult* when noise levels are high and attention is low. You learn this rapidly when people try to accuse you of things that you don't do, might as well never give anyone a reason. Things do happen in the heat of the moment, but extreme situations sometimes have extreme outcomes.
