I promoted a couple of my videos and I am feeling that shame because I feel like it's all bots. I get views and likes but never comments so I was like hmmmm that's strange and must be bots...and then it makes me feel even worse cause my AVD is like 50 seconds 😭

i just ran youtube promotion but after 3 days, I stopped it. I gained 300 subs but when I saw those who subscribed, they are not from my country and I don't think they will understand my videos. They probably will not come back to watch other videos in my channel.

I see a lot of KZbinrs talking wonders about promotions, it had me tempted but then I came across a few people that like you have had a terrible outcome out of something they spent money with. And by sharing your experience more people will think twice before launching a promotion.

The problem that I found with promotion is that, none of the views or subs helps to get you to the monetization. It is best to just try and make decent videos and consistently post and let time work its magic.

Here is what I did: I created a 15 second "intro" video, uploaded it as unlisted, and then ran a 200 dollar promotion on it. I didn't care about the views and such in that video at all, all I was looking for was engagement. I also targeted "video views" instead of "growth", so that the AI wouldn't focus on botties subscribing to my channel and not do shit. What I wanted was for the viewers of the 15 sec "trailer" to go into my channel to watch other videos. At the time I did this promotion, I was hovering around 1k views a day over all my videos. So, as I was running this promotion (which was 20 dollars a day for 10 days), my views in the channel spiked with about 4000 more views. Remember, the views from the unlisted video doesn't count. So, after 10 days, I had about 200k more views, about 1k more watch hours, about 300 more subscribers and I was a happy camper. All organic, except many of the subscribers I think, but they are irrelevant anyway. This is how you can use the promotions for something useful on KZbin. You just need to know HOW to run them properly. Also, my promotion didn't affect the AI at all with the audience I got from it. I think all in all I had about 800k impressions or something over those 10 days. The views were pretty awesome, as well as the CTR and the retention, but they were irrelevant. I got a lot of nice things from my promotion. If you do it like this, it may help you as well. However, I am not fond of blanket promotions like this though. Much better to use Google Ads where you can target your keywords and get audience that likes you and your channel genuinely. But the same principle there. Make sure the video is unlisted, use a very short video and make the viewers off shoot to the main channel. Just make sure your intro is pretty sweet and alluring, and off you go. So not all bad about these promotions either.

Argh! I wish I saw this video earlier! I'm an acrylic paint artist and I ran a few promotions on some shorts and 1 longer video. My subscriber count went up from 500 or so to 1700. I don't have a ton of videos, but my latest video is hovering around 20 views so it hasn't really been helpful other than a higher sub count. Did I screw up my channel by doing this? Should I just restart on a new channel and stay organic? Thank you - great video!

I experimented with 2 channels, before I go full nuts on my main project and it works, but you need to be careful to not get "cheap accounts". i.e: India and any other country that they "speak english". If you want english speakers, then choose the top 10 A Tier countries, DO NOT put India or any other country like that. It will just get you pure BS. Now, you will notice that there are 2 types of promotions in regard to the channel main pillars, views and subs. Choose the one you are looking for, or run both. Don't use all your BUDGET in 1 video. Split that budget at least between 10 videos and each video with a 3 day difference, so when a promotion ends, the other one starts and so on. This will help you maintain the curve of new views and subs, so each previous promoted video will get viewers from the new one. Also, this videos should be consecutive, so then your videos will look attractive in numbers, and not like a 3 views video and then a 1500 video. Use AI video editing software to generate amazing transitions, subtitles that follow the voice and other stuff. This will help you save some time and make great videos from the beginning.

I would stick with the channel you have and double down on organic growth with quality long form videos. Most channels have lots of "unengaged" subscribers. Channels that get most of their subs from shorts have that problem a lot. In time the channel gets back on track ...

I don’t mind seeing the promotion on my other channel as I use it as a business and after doing this for three years, hardly anyone watches a full video and I think we all know this platform is a bit saturated. If you love it, do it believe in yourself, create relationships, and hope for the best.no guarantees

thank you that was clever. I'm going to do this. My thinking is you get people to the door of your shop who wouldn't know your shop was down that little alley way. Its not cheating its plain old simple advertising used everyday in business and on the high street. Then its up to you to get them through the door to the different departments of your shop and thats where you will see your organic growth. It basic advertising.

@@MariaFashion-Niqab Hello. After the promotion ends, I just delete it. It serves no purpose to keep it in the channel. Also, if you make it public, then the stats once again will count, and the whole thing is useless. It's very simple. Create a small intro video, upload it as unlisted, promote the hell out of it (views only, not subscribers), then when the promotion is done, just delete it. Your goal is to "funnel" people from your intro video into your main channel, or to any video you put in the end screens. That is all. Once the promo is done, there is no more use for it. Also, setting it as unlisted makes it so whatever traction you get on it won't obscure the AI when it comes to "your" audience, which is the most important part.

I’m glad that you mentioned this. I thought about trying it out. I’m just nervous about feeling like a fraud. However, on some videos I’m only averaging like 8 views. The thumbnail is the same typically. I may try it on one video that I just did last week and see what happens.

Promotions are good if you are trying to get a fast start. I would not recommend it though unless you are bundling it with affiliate marketing. Like if you have amazon affiliate links in the description, it is a great way to get exposure for those links and maybe make some money that way. Otherwise, just grow organically.

The promotion is only good if you want more followers, it does nothing to help views or watch hours which is vital to your channel’s growth & monetization. Its Such a shame the promotion feature is useless.

Is the promotion of video views counted in watching hours? I have realized audience growth is really rowing the subscribers but doesn't add anything to 4000 watching hours. So if I choose video views is it works?🤔

looks like this is a good starter but as soon as your channel "rolls", you don't need it anymore. edit: you saying "I paid for this, so it does not feel real" is kinda not true. you paid so others can SEE the video BUT they then decided on their own to subscribe to you. am I missing something here?

It literally broke my views, i was getting a minimum of 600-1k views a video and now i’m getting 20! Gained about 500 subs from it and it was and still is the worst thing i’ve ever done.

@@adgepeterb well you see I got two channels where that may be possible the two I was re-uploading on but for my main Channel I'm about to hit 10K I can't just start from scratch but I am hedging my bets on one of my backup channels I just changed it into a different type of Storytelling Channel where I'm telling different stories now that are like Paranormal instead of mystery and true crime. Hedging my bets that's all I can do but a lot of times 99% of people I would say give up on things too fast. And then the people that don't look back a year or two or even three years from now and say I'm glad I stuck it out. I'm hoping that is this scenario LOL

I got a lot of subscribers but I feel like they are extremely poor quality subscribers compared to my handful of organic viewers. Maybe I didn't use it right. i was getting steady 100-150 a day on my "best" videos. I got about 1500 subs for $275 I think. isnt there a way to not show new videos to followers? after uploading you can de-select "Publish to subscriptions feed and notify subscribers"

looks like it ruined this video lol I am weeks way from starting my page all over. I promoted and lost my azz. I was slowly growing and vids went from low 100's, to low 1,000's but I wanted more subs so I promoted my next video. My subs shot up from 450 to 3500 in a week and that video hit 15k views, but ave duration on the 55 minute video was 12 secs. My page has never recovered. This was 60 days ago.

Pretty sure since it’s all Google now, their systems know it’s the same user regardless of which Gmail is used and YT Channel.

It just has to be done at the right time with the right intention like if you have affiliate marketing links or if you have an etsy store and you are trying to bring brand awareness. He should work through what he has learned because the algorithm is always changing so starting over is not smart.

Dude why would you promote a 55 minute video? Make a channel trailer that's around 45 seconds long, and promote THAT video. Promote that video to the countries that watch your videos the most, that's how you'll find subs and people interested in your content. No one is going to watch a 55 minute ad, remember the promotion shows up as an AD.

There's nothing wrong with promoting to home feeds, your content must get in front of people for them to consider engaging. However that's not what KZbin's promotions are doing. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but those subs aren't real people and that's why your engagement is low. Now yt thinks your content sucks because the algo sees you have 3k subs who don't view or engage with your new content. yikes.

You may have a point, but I have over 700 subs, and 99% of my views are from non-subs. My subs are not viewing at all. I think this is true for many channels anyway. Nobody should care so much about subs, since they are the worst to engage with your content. Sure, it helps to boost your channel, but the majority of your views comes from non subs. So, in that respect, I see nothing wrong with a small promotion for videos that performs poorly.
