In fact the' Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia'(FYROM), formerly 'Vardar Banovina' was Turkish for 500 years, which is why FYROM is often referred to as Europe's Islamic emirate. By the way, Ancient Macedonia is a provine of Greece, Macedonia was an ancient Greek kingdom, and the ancient Macedonians were a Greek race.

We Greeks call ourselves "hellenes" which is a diction used since after the end of the Troyan war about 4000 years ago...and it means "those that are from the land where Gods were born"...you call us Greeks from a diction of ancient Illyrian, W.Greece and this word was not made up by the British since it's met even at Latin scripts "Grecae" :P

Yunan stands for Iones, one of the major prehellenic tribes (the first that Turks faced thats why they call us by that name) Aeoleis Dorieis (the real Macedonians and Spartans) Achaeoi Iones (mostly in Asia minor and Athens) You can call me what ever you want Greek (Greakos is one of the oldest tribes established in Greece) Yunan(Ionian) Dorian (possible the more accurate to describe my origin)

Mainly that was because every time the Percians invaded Greece Macedonias and Thracians never achieved to stand alone against them Aethenians managed to trick Persians and win their fight Spartans were also victorius when they opposed them both achieved to save their homes and lands but Macedonians never did He united (by force) the Greeks to start a campain against Percians, he never had this chance, Alexandros did it.

Yeah there was no Greece as a nation thats absolutely true. However if you had that tiny little bit of education and if you hadn't that large bit of ignorance you would read up and understand that the notion of being Greek was well before Christ. If you want an example read up on the battle of Thermopylae or Troy or the campaign of Alexander the Great. The connection between Athens and Macedonia is that they were/are/will be Greek..
