Not a problem on modern CPUs but i am aware majority of people dont run modern CPUs.

Testing was done on Firefox. Forgot to test chrome before posting video. Tested on Chrome, power consumption is not as bad but still increased by around 30%

it was on for me. so I quickly looked it up, and it says you have to be in dark mode before it defaults to on, are you running dark mode? "Ambient Mode is only available with KZbin's Dark Theme enabled. This means you'll need to enable Dark Theme first. Once Dark Theme is turned on, Ambient Mode will automatically be enabled. 21 Nov 2022" If I open an incognito window on youtube, the ambient mode disappears, so it seems this is still the case
