Welp, KZbin got even much worse this year. A lot of channels have been demonitized and a lot of videos got limited in ads, even though most of them don't even contain profanity or violence. KZbin is not supposed to be a babysitter.

Rewards were even better in Spring 2020, but have been steadily declining over time. As of May 2022, not only have rewards dried up, the value of the LBC token has dropped to less than 1.5 cents. Odysee has introduced advertisments to videos, but unlike YT, there is no ad revenue sharing with creators.

True, a lot has changed since I made this video. Ad revenue for content creators is coming this year on Odysee. The value of LBC has fallen drastically since this video was made too, partly because of the ongoing SEC investigation (which caused many 3rd party sites to drop support of it) and crypto in general is not doing so well. I think things will be on the rebound soon though. We’ll see. I still love the platform and it’s gotten much better overall.

What is transcoding?

@@mosshivenetwork117 transcoding meaning when you upload a video in 1080p, it will convert it to 240p, 360p, 480p and 720p as well making you able to select which quality you want to play. Not all video platforms have this by default, although most do :-) I think Odysee has it now as well.

Is it better to sync channels, or simply reupload old videos I have on my YT to Odysee, in terms of views and earnings? I don't suppose Odysee does retro-active view earnings based on how well I'm doing on KZbin?

When you sync your channel, Odysee doesn’t take into account how successful a video is on KZbin. It’ll just be on your channel. The view counts on Odysee are separate from KZbin so they’ll always start at 0, even if you have 50k views on KZbin already.

I'm the same, have been using LBRY since it came out, and eventually transitioned over to Odysee (but, I still have my LBRY app for the purpose of splitting up channels, Odysee limts you to 5 channels, LBRY has not restrictions. They source the same video files, so... little trick if you want to post stuff unrelated to video games and ran out of channels). But, I love Odysee. Like you, I am seeing, just as a viewer, the value of getting paid for my time. I actually found you on Odysee, and when I was doing something on KZbin, decided to see if you were on here as well. I'm already using Odysee first, and KZbin as the second choice.

Content creators and viewers get paid in LBC crypto currency. Just using Odysee or LBRY generates LBC. You can then use a currency exchange to switch out LBC for BTC. I might make a video on that specifically in the future. The bad news is that the value of LBC (and crypto in general) has gone down significantly since I made this video. I think it will eventually bounce back up though.

Odysee is a great platform, but a lot has changed since I made this video. For example, the LBC crypto isn't worth nearly as much as it was and you don't earn as much per view. This situation is a byproduct of the ongoing legal battles between the SEC and various crypto currencies. A lot of what makes Odysee special is up in the air and changes are coming to the platform. Part of the reason I haven't made a follow up to this video is because so much is changing so quickly. However, I still love Odysee and it's still my preferred platform.

There is a way but it’s a pain in the butt. Also, the value of LBC has gone down significantly since I uploaded this video. For example, when I uploaded this video, 1,250 LBC was worth about $120. Today, I have 1,730 LBC and it’s worth $20. Most of the money I make on Odysee at the moment is through tips and memberships, although ad revenue is supposedly on the horizon. If you want to exchange LBC for USD, you have to exchange the LBC for Bitcoin (or another mainline crypto) at an exchange site like CoinEx. Then, move that crypto to another service that lets you sell it like Bittrex. I really hope this process becomes more streamlined in the future.

The wallet generation occurs automatically when you sign up. Of course, you’re not obligated to do anything with the LBC credits. You could just let them sit there or donate them to your favorite creators 😉 The only thing you need to create an account is a valid email address.

If one operator has almost the monopoly position in the industry, it easily produces all kinds of problems, such as the censoring of "wrong opinions" and the shadow banning of content producers who the administrators find unpleasant. A sufficient amount of competition is the best way to keep the game fair. When there is enough competition in the industry, everyone in the industry knows that if we start playing a dirty game, customers, content producers and viewers alike will move to the competitor's camp.

Unfortunately the SEC is still investigating LBRY Inc so selling LBC requires you to jump through some hoops. What I did is use CoinEx to exchange the LBC for BTC. Then, I transferred the BTC to my Bittrex wallet. Then I sold the BTC for US dollars. A major pain in the ass for sure but it works. It won't always be this hard.

I want to make an update to this video soon but there’s so many changes being made on Odysee’s side of things. The value of LBC dropped dramatically since I made this video but Odysee has added the ability for viewers to tip creators in dollars, and will start letting creators earn ad revenue. I don’t make very much on Odysee at the moment (or KZbin) but I have a lot of fun regardless. I make roughly $10 per month at the moment from Odysee from LBC earnings.

Yeah, $LBC isn’t profitable at the moment. I cashed out my 1250 LBC about 1.5 years ago for $120. That same amount today is worth only about $25. Very volatile market. There will soon be more ways to earn on Odysee and is still a very good and solid platform.

There's only one Odysee 🙂. There are more than just conspiracy videos. Gaming, vlogs, muckbangs; everything KZbin has but without ads or political censorship. Also "Qanon" is a term invented by mainstream media. It's just "Q". I don't believe in all that stuff but it's interesting.

@@denis480 yeah, KZbin is notorious for demonetizing or just plain deleting channels for their political commentary. Two of the biggest examples I can think of are Alex Jones and Steven Crowder.

@@denis480 it's not normal when these channels do nothing to deserve the punishments put upon them. The've broken none of the platform's rules but it doesn't matter. Alex Jones is not dangerous lol. Also, his products work really well (I've purchased several of them).

Regarding the 3 alternatives, I ended getting the impression that Rumble is the best when it comes to political orientated content and creators who want to make such. The other two seem better for the more general audience.

Odysee has a strong amount of political content on it also, but has a more wide appeal than Rumble. I still think it’s the best one.
