Trainees sacrifices their youth, education and family. Trains hard all day long, everyday for years in numerous fields like singing, dancing, language, variety skills, interview skills and plenty more. And they are doing all of that for free without even the guarantee of debuting and even if they do debut success is still not guaranteed. It is not for free for the large majority of trainees, just a deferred payments(at an expensive interest rate) where companies require payment if you do not debut and cancel your contract, and if you do debut, they will withhold idol pay and take revenue until the payment has been covered. Companies are often not transparent about fees and what the debt pay off plan is upon debut. SM has plans to start monetizing their training too, and I'm sure if that's successful other companies with follow too.

As one of the journalists said in one of the previous episodes: "idols are a reflection of Korean society, they just want to see the best of the best". Idol contracts and her contracts are completely different. In the 1990s, Korean singers were fooled by a typical Hollywood contract in which money was taken away from their aides. There is no problem like her because idol is a 7-year standard contract. The problem that idols don't get paid these days is due to the negative system of trainee expenses. This is also changing positively as we move on to investment issues that are not burdensome to individuals. The two are completely different cases. I want to correct it because you are interested in K-pop and believe that the tragedy of the past is reaching the present.

I'm not American but the way that speaker said self made artists and talent that discovered not created is just wow, kpop is something we need in our daily life.
@kayesm55183 жыл бұрын
Yeah I felt that 😭. And also one of the speaker said that being a K-Pop idol is an occupation where one's true self needs to be hidden. It's painful to see tho 😟

It's so sad to see this. The wrost thing is that a lot of people keep hating on idols, there's a lot of inmature people that just say things without knowing the person. It makes me feel anger. They're just humans. They're not perfect. And you're no one to judge them.

Nurture that empathy inside, always being grateful, appreciate others to truly see the humanity in us for every line of work on this earth. If its really that hard for you, i am really sorry for you. Be kind, that is the least we could do.

What is really sad is that the one of the only times that an idol gets a break is when they do their mandatory military enlistment. I know when Onew, Key and Minho of SHINee were discharged, they looked so healthy and well rested. They were able to get away from being in the public eye 24/7 for 20 months and were able to find their true selves. Key in fact said how he was trying to get Taemin to enlist earlier because of how much rest he was getting being enlisted into the military band. I remember him saying on his welcome back Vlive that the most rest he had ever gotten was in the military. That yeah sure he missed being able to go eat whenever and whatever he wanted and being able to see his fans all the time but at the same time it was really refreshing having a steady schedule instead of having to work 20 hours a day on only 3 hours of sleep.

The female idols don't do military service though. In fact they end up doing all these free gigs to entertain the troops added to their schedule if they become popular...

I don't know if this was just pure chance/ fate that who we know now as STAYC (alongside with their co-trainees) was part in this Kpop evolution documented series for the episodes 5 and 6. I mean its just so great to see stayc here being able too see their start as idols. ps. the whole documented series is interesting and amazing.

Yes idols are human too ! Stop bullying your idols . Even though you didn't like some group , just keep it with you , no need to spread the hate , no one want to know it . And also for the fans , don't leave your idols suffering alone when something bad news happen to them . Show your support to them , don't come when they only got a win or else . be with them when they happy , sad , excited . Its frustrating to see some of fans leave when the group is in bad situation 🤦

If that dance instructor was responsible for the choreography in ASAP she's a genius. There's so many details in it that you don't notice until you see it many times.

At 9:25 I’m pretty sure Minnie says about a year before debut, instead of the subtitles saying a year after

aaah..... that's why I'm so confused about that

Idk, if i'm not mistaken, it was after debut the could live in the dorm with korean members. In one of their i-talks, i think it was in the time they were promoting uh oh on music shows, Soyeon or Minnie talks about moving into a new dorm and then one goes to say that she's excited bc foreigh and korean line wasn't going to be split anymore
